Due to a serious lack of skilled labor in the field of restoration and invasion of new industrial building materials, many extremely rich vernacular architectural heritage sites, including the ones in the Mediterranean countries such as Tunisia, are under threat of degradation. This project comes from the case study of the old Shusira; Kesra, a village in the governorate of Siliana, whose strikingly beautiful landscape stone, an abundant natural resource, has gradually disfigured. In a context where sustainability becomes a necessity, the use of local materials is essential.

This is the final project for the the elective seminar entitled «vernacular architecture» taken during the first semester of the fifth year. The prompt included choosing a site studied during the research trip entitled «Environment,» defining a problem and addressing it through a project.

A cultural transplant
Design in a contemporary vernacular architectural style constructed with local stone. Know more and make known the riches of the territory. Transmit knowledge and expertise
approach involves " This creation of an architectural proposal that will support the upgrading of the village, its history, heritage and architecture, and revive its reborn crafts.
The idea is to restore an abandoned house with a dry stone vernacular architecture and a heritage dating back to centuries, and turn it into a space for crafts and insert a perched library, attracting the residents, especially the youth, to come and cultivate themselves.

Detail of a stone wall, an abundant local resource in Kesra. It is removable and translucent, and acts as a filler material to be placed inside metal boxes, as a revisited gabion. Section detail of the structural system (load-bearing stone and wooden frame roof), the roof is vegetated.

The prompt was to design a multifunctional building; an initial study concerns the choice of a program. With the intention to work the project in its various phases (APS , APD, Execution). Level: Fourth year. Teacher : Dora IsmaĂŻl. Theme : bioclimatic architecture. Location : The lakeshore, Tunis, Tunisie.
Bend to the BIOCLIMATIC to bring a cultural dimension to the site by offering a library and an auditorium for a rather well-off society hungry for culture. It also contributes a commercial dimension by instilling quality organic food stores, all on the ground floor.
This project was for me an introduction to an architecture respectful of the environment; the design was done according to the bioclimatic chart taking the solar orientation and prevailing winds into consideration, and also included a natural ventilation system. The building has a metal structure, made out of recyclable steel.

Agency : Khammash architects Duration : 4 months. Location : Wadi Rum, Jordan. The current massing of the building in separate blocks has created orientation and circulation hierarchy problems, which required placing large signs marking the reception block and other facilities. (“good architecture needs no signs�) The continuous entering and exiting of blocks has also created annoying dramatic shifts of light from the indoor artificial lighting to the outdoor sun glare, as well as climate-control, security, and visitor management difficulties. As a result, the current building fails in its most important functions:

- A proper reception, which is too small and difficult to find. - Interpretation space, which is isolated in a far separate block. Visitor centers should always start with reception/ interpretation, preferably as one continuous space that is visually connected to a refreshment area, and administration is normally hidden behind reception and research and other offices can be tucked away anywhere away from direct visitors traffic.

The monumental frame functions also as a shaded area and strong guidance to the indoor reception, which functions as both; reception and interpretation, keeping in mind that some interpretation starts outside under the frame, or even the large courtyard Before.

couple in a pleasant living space with a cheerful, boosting atmosphere. The idea is that all the spaces benefit from a view, hence creating two microclimates, in order to integrate the garden inside the house and to multiply the shaded spaces. The project aims to respect nature, it takes shape in relation to the bioclimatic curve with the openings on the east and south-east.

Self-sufficient project is equipped with a heat pump powered by solar energy and a system of rainwater harvesting. The house uses the local stone as a building material, trying to integrate the reflection of a showcase architecture encouraging visitors to do the same in order to reduce the harmful impact caused by the industrial materials.

a very young age in the detail, which often lead me to rethink some devices, far and wide. My working approach is to be a part of sustainable development, including the design phase as well as the implementation phase through the material choice.
2016 These are demountable table legs, easily transportable and ergonomically adjustable on any flat surface. The advantage of its use is its lightness, flexibility and design. This is a response to the great mass of industry, whose products meet expectations, yet no longer hold any identity.
Thus, those, who will use these table legs, can vary their support and thus, choose the design of their board work. This is the result of a long research, a unique design and local manufacture in Tunisia. With a little help, I finally founded Loubia Attacks, the product brand.

Often one has old objects loaded with symbols and history in his garage, this table leg revitalizes and restores the chance to communicate them. Thus, each table object tells a story. With this project in December 2015, I was the winner of the national competition Nijma’t Dar Deco, as a young Tunisian designer.
