Our internships are designed to give you a preview of both the project management and superintendent roles within Harvey Cleary.
Requirements
• Minimum of high-school diploma or equivalent
• Four-year college degree in construction or engineering with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, preferred but not required
Our Interns can expect to do the following during their internship:
Leadership
• Learn Procore (software management system)
• Participate in subcontractor meetings
• Work closely with the superintendent and project management teams to learn construction operations
• Keep commitments
Estimating / Cost Control
• Assist project management team with change order pricing
• Assist the superintendent team with pricing and purchasing of equipment and materials
• Assist in budgeting and bidding procedures
• Read and understand construction documents

Scheduling
• Assist field team with developing and documenting look ahead schedules
• Work with subcontractors to maintain jobsite schedules
Quality Control
• Field inspections
• Review and response to consultant field reports.

A Day in the Life of Zayne Day, Intern
Zayne arrives at the jobsite in Houston. He spends the first part of her day walking the jobsite and taking mental notes of what he thinks the critical path items for the day are.
7:30 AM
Zayne attends the jobsite safety awareness meeting and takes note of what the subcontractors will be working on for that day. He also performs a head count of the manpower onsite to log the jobsite hours.
8:00 AM
Zayne checks his emails and responds to inquiries needing her immediate attention.

Zayne walks the project and takes progress photos. He uploads the photos to Procore for review by the project team.
9:00 AM
Zayne processes field reports and distributes them to the subcontractors, architects, superintendents, and consultants. He works to get responses of the listed items.

Zayne processes submittals and RFIs in Procore and links RFIs to drawings within Procore.
Safety

• Review and understand jobsite safety awareness protocols from subcontractor(s)

Zayne has lunch with his project team. They discuss the upcoming week’s foremen’s meeting, discuss any safety issues, OAC meeting, and review the critical path items he noted in his morning job walk.

Zayne reviews pricing of field changes and discusses scope clarification with subcontractors.

Zayne attends the Foremen’s meeting and takes notes. Following the meeting, he distributes the meeting minutes for review by the team.
2:00 PM
He distributes punch list items to the appropriate subcontractors in Procore and ensures the completion of those items.

He contacts subcontractors for updated material delivery dates and updates her log.

Zayne attends a jobsite tour of another Harvey Cleary project with his fellow interns. Following the tour, they head to a local restaurant to catchup on what they’re learning on their jobsite.
