THE HARROD SOUTHWOLD COLLECTION
At Harrod Horticultural, we believe any outside space deserves to be an extension of the inside space. Whether a patio, balcony or a sprawling country estate, the furniture outside should be every bit as stylish and well-designed as any interior piece. And with our exquisite, handcrafted Southwold Collection on pages 4-13, you can do just that.
From chairs, benches and sofas to large and small tables, with the Southwold Collection you can create seating areas, dining spaces, corner nooks for reading and expansive set-ups for entertaining. Elsewhere, our Southwold pergolas, planters, plant supports, obelisks and trellis allow the delightful antique finish to be flowed throughout the garden.
ENDURING COMFORT
Much thought has gone into the ergonomics of the seat design and careful selection of the material sections used to ensure just the right amount of ‘give’ is coupled with the required structural strength. The chair designs are tapered front to back and the back rest has a curved form which combined, improves aesthetics and comfort. The legs use 8mm thick strip steel for strength and rigidity whereas the seat base uses 3mm thick strip to give comfort and spring. Cushions can be ordered with your furniture for ultimate comfort but we are confident from customer feedback that even without padding our chairs are kind to the behind.
HANDCRAFTED PRODUCTION
All of our furniture is handcrafted by skilled technicians and finished in our workshops in Suffolk where we have been manufacturing for 70 years. Due to the handmade nature of the products all pieces are unique. Parts are cut, rolled, hand assembled and then precision welded to form the whole – no customer assembly required. Before final finishing, all of the products are hot dipped in a bath of molten zinc which envelops the steel in a blanket of sacrificial rust protection. Each piece of furniture is therefore extremely tough and durable, and with a substantial weight, so will withstand the most extreme British weather.
HAND ETCHED FINISH
Each piece of furniture is chemically etched by hand after the zinc coating is applied leaving an antique finish. The joy of these hand processes means that every piece has its own character that evolves with age and improves as the product weathers. Colours can vary from light to dark grey. The finish is always varied, it is not a paint and is not intended to be completely uniform, which adds to the charm of these unique pieces.
MINIMAL CARE
Steel is the perfect material for all-weather furniture. When steel is hot dip galvanised it gives robust rust protection and one of the many advantages of the Southwold collection is that the nature of the patination ensures the surface will improve as it weathers. There is no need to cover it over winter, instead the stylish furniture can be enjoyed all year round.

All furniture pieces in the collection are covered by a 25 YEAR STRUCTURAL GUARANTEE. Our testing suggests that due to the level of quality of manufacture and materials, coupled with the timeless style, the collection can truly be considered as heirloom pieces that will last for generations with our care instructions.

HARROD MODERN PERGOLA
Available in 3m and 4m wide sizes up to 9m long with either a simple wire climbing grid roof or with a retractable awning.
Its main structural section is 63.5mm square extruded aluminium, 3.25mm wall thickness and it has been high temperature powder coated in anthracite grey and bolts together with discreet stainless steel fixings.
Supplied with foot plates which can be fitted above ground for patio or decking or can be bolted to a concrete pad foundation for below ground fixing. Self assembly with floor fixing bolts available separately.
Wire Grid – roof area covered with 8 x 3mm diameter stainless steel wires – 4 in each direction in which climbers or ramblers can create a living canopy.
Retractable Awning – high-grade marine canvas awning in ivory or grey, suspended from 3mm diameter stainless steel cables which allow it to be retracted and opened with the supplied pole. Easily removed for storage, it has integral aluminium battens and is attached to the support wires by stainless steel carabiners.

Constructed using high strength solid steel rod - 12mm diameter for the uprights and curved rails; 10mm diameter for the cross linked horizontals. Four fully welded assemblies make up each arch that are beautifully connected using precision turned solid steel joiners which lock the sections in place with stainless steel set screws.

HARROD CONTEMPORARY ARCH & PERGOLA 15
High grade aluminium arch and pergola design that is made from substantial 10cm square aluminium uprights and cross bars with 38mm square linking bars. Framework is powder coated anthracite grey.
Steel “L” plate electroplated corner joints are secured with discreet bolts.
We recommend that the structure is attached to cast concrete foundation pads using optional stainless steel fixing bolts that are available separately to secure the floor fixing plates. Alternatively the structure can be screwed down to timber decking using appropriate wood screws.

These cages seamlessly blend strength and durability with graceful sweeping roof lines that have the added advantage of withstanding snowfall.
Made from extra strength 1.5mm thick wall x 25mm square steel box section with steel reinforced connectors. They stand 2m above ground in height to the top of the door.
Cage kits also include 19mm square premium knotted roof mesh, 16mm square mesh side netting and door kit.

HARROD SUPERIOR METAL RAISED BEDS
UK engineered and manufactured using 1mm thick galvanised steel with super strength ‘double folded’ plank construction to resist bowing. Simple bolt together construction. High temperature powder coated inside and out - anthracite grey or heritage green.
Larger size beds feature cross braces for added strength.
Beds do not include a base as standard but are available separately.
All metal raised beds available in 0.6m, 1.2m, 1.8m and 2.4m sizes, square or rectangular. Heights 20cm, 40cm and 60cm.

HARROD METAL PLANTERS
UK engineered and manufactured using 1mm thick galvanised steel with super strength ‘double folded’ panel construction that bolts together.
High temperature powder coated inside and out in anthracite grey. Now available with a hand etched finish for a unique aged patina that continues to improve with age.
10 YEAR STRUCTURAL GUARANTEE for anthracite finish.

Larger size planters include additional internal strengthening ribs on the inside of side panels to prevent bowing.
The planter bases have drainage holes with bungs supplied. They can either sit level with the ground or can be reversed to create a shadow gap.
