This basketball tournament was sponsored by the New York Daily News and HARLEM WEEK in concert with Hot 97 FM. Basketball legends, enthusiasts, spectators, future ballers, youth, and families came out to see Each One Teach One high school all-stars of today and tomorrow. A special treat for those in attendance was the annual NYPD All- 1 Stars vs. The Rucker Pro All-Stars game. HARLEM WEEK, represented by board member, Voza Rivers, The Daily News and a Hot 97 representative presented awards for community service to renowned Rucker alums and Each One Teach One supporters including former New York Knick great/ announcer/player and Rucker legend, Calvin Ramsey, former New York Knick player/Rucker legend, Hawthorne Wingo, HARLEM WEEK’s Emmett Causey, and John “Butch” Purcell, former HARLEM WEEK Board Member and Rucker Pro tournament senior manager received the award presented posthumously to Artie Georges. For the third year in a row this outstanding event was coordinated by Brian Adams, the NY Daily News Manager of Community Programs. The Golden Hoops Commissioner, Bob McCullough, Sr., Harlem’s “Mr. Basketball”, continues to produce the all-star games attracting the best teams from the New York region and beyond. In addition Commissioner McCullough was recognized and saluted at Madison Square Garden on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Rucker Tournament named in honor of the legendary Holcombe Rucker.
