Cozy “More-than-enough” Morning Stop Colossal Cafe (Grand Ave Location) St. Paul Minutes from campus: 6 minutes Colossal Cafe is a near-to-campus breakfast spot that can get busy. However, it’s worth it as long as you don’t visit on the weekend during the breakfast bustle. Colossal has a similar feel to Neighborhood Cafe, but with a little bit more room and cinnamon rolls (bonus!). The room is warm and energized. When we went, it was literally packed. The portions leave a little bit for leftovers and more than enough to feel full before you’ve even left! Service could have been better, but I think they were a bit tired from the brunch rush.
The Casual (plus Mimosas!) Breakfast Neighborhood Cafe St. Paul Drive time: 5 minutes Just south on Snelling lies another popular neighborhood brunch spot, appropriately named Neighborhood Cafe. A fairly small eatery, Neighborhood Cafe offers a wide selection of sweet and savory breakfast options. They usually have a featured pancake and mimosa special of the week, look for it on their large chalkboard wall in the main dining room. Their prices are fairly affordable, and you get a healthy amount of food for what you pay for! Their egg dishes, pancakes, and French toast are all winners. Don’t shy away from a boozy breakfast either; their large mimosa is huge and refreshing with your breakfast choice.
The “Do it for the Gram” Brunch Lynhall Minneapolis Drive time: 15 minutes

Lynhall’s sprawling cafe includes a full bar and plenty of different places to sit. They have different textured tables, from dark wood to modern marble, to serve as the perfect backgrounds for photos or Sunday brunch spreads. You can never go wrong with a side order of fluffy scrambled eggs or one of their coveted pastries. The weekends can get busy during prime brunch time (10:30-1:30) so that extra time in line will give you an opportunity to eye up their pastry and dessert case before the register. I recommend the scrambled eggs, a coffee or morning cocktail, and a pastry. Pictured: Lynhall’s scrambled eggs ($3.50), bacon ($5), and their new spice cakes ($7) with clotted cream and lingonberry.
