letter from the editor
G
oodbyes are always a bit hard and nostalgic for me, but it’s time for me to pass the metaphorical torch to someone else. During this year with Canvas, I’ve fought for her. I finally got her an office to call home, as well as put in place more structure for the next Editor-in-Chief. I’m terrified to leave but immensely excited to see what happens next.
This magazine has taken huge strides towards really becoming something during the time I’ve been here. First as Design Chief, and now as Editor-inChief, I’ve been able to watch Canvas grow and share so much from the lives of my Piper peers. This magazine has given me something to be proud of. I’m so proud of the relationships I’ve made through this and the students we’ve been able to publish. I’m so proud of how each issue looks better than the last. I’ve been able to work with some of the best individuals here at Hamline. But, it’s time to focus on the here and now. In this issue, we’ve got dorm recipes and study abroad sketches. We’ve got musings on the college experience and highlights of student workers and hobbies. We’ve got life and color and loss. We’ve got senior staff who have contributed their last pieces in this issue and students who have never contributed before. We have a strong staff of women who kick ass. Until we meet again, stay strange.
