Good afternoon everyone.
Firstly, I’d like to wish a warm welcome to the supporters, players and management team of Cherry Burton FC , the match official and also to our loyal supporters.
So we return to league action this weekend after two recent disappointing results in the local cup competitions.
We’re currently on a very good run of form in the league and we’ll be looking to build on that today.
We’ll be going into the game looking to continue to build on our recent league performances and results and to also move on from the recent cup defeats..
The lads know we need a reaction and we’ll do everything we can to continue putting points on the board.
I hope you all enjoy the game today, please make use of the full facilities
and look forward to hearing you cheer the lads on.
Thank you for your continued support.
Burkey. We can announce that the Hall Road Rangers first team will no longer play from Haworth Park after the end of this current season. This comes after Hull United announced it as their new home for the 2023/24 season.
We’d like to place on record that we haven’t been forced out of Haworth Park as it’s a decision that’s been made by Dave Reader and Chris Burke. We wish Hull United good luck in their new home and also all the best to LIV Supplies.
Club Chairman Dave Reader provided the following statement:
“After my decision to step away from Haworth Park and Hall Road earlier in the season, myself and Burkey sat down to see what the future held. We both had reasons for stopping, but we also had some very good positives to continue.
We both put our points and ideas forward regarding the future and what it’d look like. With this in mind, myself and Burkey have been in various meetings with many clubs and grounds to see what, if anything, could be a new project we could possibly get involved in and add to the existing structure.
After many discussions, we’ve agreed with Westella & Willerby to move to Hilltop. This’ll see us play under the Westella & Willerby banner from the 2023/24 season.
We spoke about everyone who we wanted to come across which’ll see Burkey, Matt, Alex and Mike all continue as the management team. I’ll also stay within football, which I didn’t originally envisage doing, but with Hilltop comes a ready made project with the pitch, clubhouse, dugouts and so on. We also have all the lads coming over which was a big stipulation of Burkey’s as they’ve been great all season.
Ollie Harsley will also move across and continue with his work on the social media
and match previews/reports. We’ll also be on the lookout for more people to join and provide additional help on game days.”
Hall Road manager Chris Burke had this to add:
“After Dave’s decision to step down as Chairman and my recent health issues, I was unsure what I’d be doing come the end of the season. Myself and Dave have become good friends since we first met at East Yorkshire Carnegie.
The thought of carrying on at Hall Road without him didn’t sit right with me after all he’s done for the club as a whole and also for myself, Leon and the lads around the first team setup. We had a tongue in cheek conversation one Saturday after a game of what if there’s a new project?
I know Westella & Willerby very well as it’s where I started out in the management game after joining Leon in the dugout. They have some very good people around the club including Pete Whinham, Jez, Rich Brown, Nobby and I’m especially looking forward to seeing Fidds and Phil Wood again.
It’s a shame what happened previously, but that’s part of football. I’m looking forward to the new start and going back to where it all began. I’d like to thank the committee for putting their trust in myself and my coaching staff, Dave and the lads. Hopefully, we can bring the good times back.
I’ve had some wonderful times at Hall Road and I thank the club for everything they’ve done. I wish it well in the future and moving forward.”
The Hall Road Rangers junior teams will continue to run with a new Chairman and Committee. This’ll ensure that the Hall Road badge is still represented and Dave is working tirelessly to ensure that everything is sorted before departing.
For further information please message our page or call 07719716167.
From the conclusion of this current season, our Chairman, Dave Reader, will step down from his role and it’s worth noting that Dave has done a fantastic job in his time as Hall Road Rangers Chairman.
Since this announcement, we’ve all been working hard behind the scenes to set up a new Hall Road junior section to enable the club to continue as it has done for 64 years. At the last managers meeting, we elected a new committee and they are as follows:
Chairman - Paul Innes
Vice chairman - Matt Vass
Vice chairman - Darren Bowness
Club Secretary - Simon Stevens
Club treasurer - Simon Stevens
Welfare officer - Paul Innes
All of the above will be supported by current managers in a secretarial role assisting where required.
We’re currently working with all our youth and ladies teams with Hull United and Neill Dransfield (Haworth Park leaseholder) to ensure where possible Hall Road play from Haworth Park next season and will ground / pitch share with some Hull United teams.
Hull United have two other grounds which may see some games, where these clash, play from also but as the current Chairman I can say that Hall Road will play football and will have pitches to play from.
I know some coaches and parents have wanted to seek some clarification about the future of our club, but can assure you we’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes with everyone under the Hall Road banner to secure the future of this fantastic football club.
I’d like to thank all the managers, volunteers and staff for their hard work on and off the field and will continue to support them all until I leave at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Kind Regards

Hall Road Rangers made a winning start to 2023 as they secured a 1-3 victory against Reckitts AFC at Hull University.
Tom Oliver had an opportunity for Hall Road inside the first minute which was comfortably saved. Immediately after this, Reckitts took the lead when they capitalised on a mix up within the Rangers defence.
In the 15th minute, a fantastic pass from Jordan Hall picked out Tom Iversen who slotted the ball home to get Rangers back on level terms with his third goal of the season. Iversen almost had a second goal in the 26th minute when he met Luke Bullement’s cross and sent a header over the bar.
Rangers continued to carve out chances as the first half wore on. This included efforts from Mason Chaffer and Iversen which were saved. Chaffer would put Rangers in front with his first goal for the club in the 38th minute after latching onto a long pass from James Murray.
This lead could have been extended in the 64th minute as a lay off from Iversen picked out Oliver who fired an effort over the bar. Rangers made it 1-3 in the 73rd minute when Rob Hall produced a thunderous strike from distance which perfectly flew into the top corner of the Reckitts net. This was Hall’s first goal for the club.
Hall Road Rangers: Withill, Pulford (Davies 87’), Murray, J. Hall, Bullement, Andrew (C), Wray (R. Hall 64’), Shepard (Salter 74’), Chaffer, Oliver, Iversen.
Subs Not Used: Waud, Miller.
Having secured a third successive league win, Rangers find themselves occupying fourth position in the Humber Premier League Premier Division table.
When asked for his thoughts after the game, Rangers manager Chris Burke said:
“To be fair, it’s a bit mixed really. Being realistic about it, it’s the first game back after the Christmas break and we’ve had a few weeks off.
The lads have been ticking over and were back in training on Wednesday with a good session, but there are a lot of things we could’ve done better today. I’ll give them a little bit of dues as they got the three points which is the main thing.
If we’re going to pick up on fine details, there were very good chances that we’ve created which we should be putting away. Again, I think that maybe comes down to a bit of rustiness and having that little bit of a break over Christmas. Maybe one too many mince pies, but it’s come good.
The main thing is we’re now three out of three with nine points out of our last three games which is the important thing for us to keep moving up the table. It puts us into a positive stead going into next week.”
Hall Road Rangers made it four successive league wins on the bounce as they secured a 0-2 derby victory against Hull United at Steve Prescott Sports Centre on Saturday. Rangers dominated the first half and carved out a good number of opportunities on the Hull United goal. In the 10th minute, skipper Lewis Andrew bagged his second goal of the season and put Rangers in front with a sweetly struck effort which found its way into the bottom corner of the net.
Ellis Miller fired an effort over the bar in the 14th minute. Eight minutes later, Tom Oliver saw his shot saved by Citizens keeper Harry Milner. Rangers doubled their lead in the 26th minute when Tom Iversen pounced on a loose ball inside the Hull United box and slotted home to get his fourth goal of the campaign.
Andrew put a free-kick just wide in the 32nd minute before both Rob and Jordan Hall had efforts saved by Milner. In the 39th minute, Milner pulled off another good save to prevent Iversen from bagging his second goal of the game.
A few minutes into the second half, Rangers nearly made it 0-3. This came through a Fin Pulford effort which was saved as Milner continued to keep the Citizens in the game. There were a couple of Rob Hall efforts which went over the bar whilst a shot from Joel Shepard was also saved.
There was late drama when the Citizens were awarded a penalty, but Rangers keeper Haydn Withill produced a great save to prevent them from converting the spot kick. This ensured that Rangers picked up a much coveted and well earned clean sheet.
Hall Road Rangers: Withill, Pulford, J. Hall, Davies, Bullement (Shepard 71’), Andrew (C), Wray (Spinks 86’), R. Hall, Miller, Oliver, Iversen (Harrison 75’). Substitute Not Used: Waud.
After the game, Rangers boss Chris Burke said:
“To be fair, it could’ve and should’ve been a lot more. Even by half-time, it should’ve been game done.
First half, we controlled it from the first minute to the half-time whistle. We obviously scored the two good goals, but we created umpteen chances. It’s just that little bit of calmness and a little bit of confidence sometimes in front of goal. It could’ve been five, six or seven by half-time.
Obviously, we went in at half-time and had a chat with the lads. Told them everybody knows two nil is the hardest scoreline in football and the next goal is critical.
The second half was a bit frantic really. We didn’t really get our foot on the ball and try and control the pace of the game. To be fair to the lads, they’ve seen the game out.
I told them all that they owe a big debt of gratitude to Haydn. Two minutes to go, don’t lose possession. We gave away a stupid throw in, turn over the possession, it goes down the other end and they get the penalty. To be fair, Haydn’s dug them out to keep that clean sheet in tact.
The main thing is the clean sheet. Obviously, the three points are nice as well and that’s four in a row now. We’re on a good run and those results breed confidence especially going into next week.”
Sculcoates Amateurs 2

Hall Road Rangers secured a fifth successive league victory on Saturday afternoon as they toppled Humber Premier League Premier Division league leaders Sculcoates Amateurs with a 3-2 win. Rob Hall fired an effort wide inside the first minute. In the fourth minute, Scullies came close to going in front with a cross come shot which cannoned off the bar.
The visitors took the lead in the 31st minute when Liam White was played through and subsequently tucked the ball home. Just before the break, Tom Iversen got Rangers back on level terms with a wonderful finish and secured his fifth goal of the season.
Rangers created a couple of good opportunities to take the lead in the early stages of the second half. Rob Hall sent a header over the bar after meeting a Lewis Andrew set piece delivery whilst Iversen put an effort wide.
However, Scullies restored their lead in the 64th minute as White converted a penalty to bag his second goal of the game. Rangers equalised in the 68th minute when Rob Hall fired home after Scullies failed to deal with an Andrew corner.
Jordan Hall crashed a header against the bar in the 72nd minute and Iversen saw a shot go wide a few minutes later. Late on,
Hall Road Rangers: Withill, Pulford, J. Hall, Davies, Bullement, Andrew (C), Shepard, R. Hall, Miller, Harrison, Iversen.
Subs Not Used: Wray, Salter, Waud.
Rangers earned all three points courtesy of Rob Hall’s second goal of the game as he got on the end of a superb Luke Bullement cross and produced a fine header.

Giving his post-match thoughts, Rangers manager Chris Burke said:
“To be fair, I’m buzzing and more so for the lads. They thoroughly, thoroughly deserve that three points today.
2-2 could have been a fair result as well, but we did everything and more that was required to get the three points. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a last minute winner?
Myself, Matt and Alex set up the training to put things into practice and we have a chat before the match to work out how we’re going to set up. At the end of the day, it comes down to the players and how they follow that through. Today, to a man, they were brilliant.
We’ve gone a goal behind twice. Not only have they got themselves back in the game, they’ve then kicked on and scored a brilliant, brilliant goal.
Bully’s whipped in a cross Beckhamesque from the right hand side, Rob’s met it with complete aplomb, buried it in the
back of the net and topped it off with a wonderful celebration. It shows the togetherness from the lads and that’s the main thing.
When I took over this job, it was obviously a hard decision to make in not doing it with Leon given all the years we’ve worked together. However, we’ve kept the same morals and the same standards that we’ve always worked with together and that’s one thing I’m a big believer in.
You keep your standards and your morals and you work together and for each other. I have this little saying one in, all
in and today it was that. From one to 11, they were brilliant.
It wasn’t pretty at times, with Haworth as it is and especially in Winter, but they just dug in. Go behind, dust yourselves down, go again and get the equaliser. That happened in the second half and we kicked on.”

Hall Road Rangers are again inviting supporters and local businesses to support the club by sponsoring a player in the Hall Road Rangers squad. This is a great way to show your support for the club as well as to advertise your business for the rest of the season.
You will be associated with your sponsored player for any announcements made over the tannoy system for the rest of the season. That will include during the announcement of the team before the kick-off, and of course if your chosen player scores a goal!
If you would like to find out more information or to take one of these packages please contact Dave Reader at the club.
Something very special is unfolding right before our eyes in the National League –and it’s likely to raise the bar for many years to come.
For the last few weeks at NLP Towers, we’ve cautiously held off talking about a “two-horse race” for the title but gripping late drama on Saturday felt like a decisive moment.
The first twist in the tale came at Huish Park where, held 1-1 by Yeovil Town, Notts County appeared to be struggling in pursuit of a sixth straight National League victory.
But, with five minutes to go, the ruthless league leaders managed to find a way through, courtesy of Ruben Rodrigues, and then clicked through the gears in stoppagetime with top scorer Macaulay Langstaff adding two more to complete a rather comfortable – if not flattering - 4-1 victory.
It was the same also at Aldershot Town’s EBB Stadium where Notts’ title rivals Wrexham were similarly not having things their own way.
Two-nil and 3-1 leads were quickly cancelled out by the stubborn Shots but the Hollywood finish was pure box office - a 96th-minute winner from substitute Sam Dalby helping the Red Dragons to a dramatic 4-3 victory.
Defeat for Woking at Altrincham and Chesterfield’s failure to beat Solihull Moors meant that the gap between second and third was extended to a mind-boggling 17
points and, given the form of these two big guns, it would take a huge turnaround in order for that deficit to be clawed back.
Saturday’s finale also put the National League statisticians on red alert.
As it stands, no fewer than FOUR longlasting league records could potentially be broken this season – and maybe even by a team who could still be playing Non-League football next year!
With only one automatic place up for grabs, it is still very much all to play for. Failure to finish on top of the summit will not only mean that the runners-up will have a psychological setback to recover from, but also a gruelling two-legged play-off semifinal and final to overcome if they are to, at long last, fulfil their promotion aspirations.
The first major National League record in sight of the top two is for Most Points in a Season.
Crawley Town’s best of 105, set in 2010-11, is in grave danger of being surpassed by both Notts and Wrexham, who are closing on three figures with a quarter of the season still left to play.
As it stands, County led the way with 83 points from 34 matches, while Wrexham trail by five with two games more to play.
They are still a way off but on current points-per-game ratio both would end the season on 112 points.
The last time the top two ended on the same points was way back in 1991-92, while no two teams have ever finished the season with 100+ points. History may well be beckoning.
Another long-standing record under serious threat is most Wins in a Season.
With the total of 31, first achieved by Aldershot Town in 2007-08, has stood for 15 years. Crawley, in 2010-11 and Fleetwood, in 2011-12, both took a share, but it has never been surpassed.
County, currently with 25, need just seven wins from 12 games to take the record outright, while Wrexham need eight from 14.
With wins and points come goals – and that is another area which separates these two from the rest.
A hat-trick at Huish Park on Saturday and two more against Southend United on Tuesday night, took Langstaff’s tally for the season to 32 – an incredible feat for a striker enjoying his first season in the topflight since joining from Gateshead in National League North in the summer.
Closest rival Paul Mullin followed up his brace for Wrexham at Aldershot on Saturday with two more against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night, taking his league tally for the season to 26, although the 28year-old former Cambridge United hitman has bagged eight more in the FA Cup.
Both are in pursuit of Ricky Miller’s incredible total of 40 for Dover Athletic back in 2016/17. Langstaff needs eight goals from 12 games, Mullin a goal a game from Wrexham’s remaining 14.
With these two hitman, and others, on fire, it’s no surprise to see both Notts County and Wrexham chasing the team goal totals too.
This is the record which stands longest of all with no one able to topple the total of 103 set by Barnet in 1990-91 and equalled by Hereford in 2003-04.
However, with Notts County currently on 88 and Wrexham on 83, this the one mark most likely to be toppled.
It’s been almost a decade since any side hit the 100-goal mark but, at the current goalsper-game ratio, both Notts and Wrexham would bag 119!
It’s fair to say both of these big guns have given the National League plenty in the way of entertainment this season – but their lasting legacy to the Non-League game may offer English football’s fifth tier a whole new dimension for the future.
The EFL chief executive Rick Parry revealed this week they are finally considering introducing a third promotion spot for National League clubs.
These ridiculous numbers can only help strengthen that argument.
