A Message from the PTA President

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Staff,

As the end of the school year approaches, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we have shared together It is with a mixture of gratitude and pride that I write this farewell letter as the President of our PTA

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest appreciation to each and every one of you for your unwavering support throughout my tenure Without your dedication, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit, our PTA would not have achieved the remarkable successes we have witnessed over the past few years

Together, we have worked to enhance the educational experience of our children, support our hardworking teachers, and foster a nurturing environment that encourages growth and learning. It is truly awe-inspiring to witness the positive impact we have had on our students' lives.

I would like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our PTA committee members and volunteers who have selflessly devoted their time, energy, and expertise to make our initiatives a reality. Whether it was organizing fundraisers, coordinating events, or advocating for our school's needs, your dedication has been instrumental in our accomplishments. I am immensely grateful for your commitment and the friendships we have formed along the way.

To the grownups who care for the children of Hage, I am deeply grateful for your active involvement in our PTA Your continued support and participation in our events, meetings, and initiatives have demonstrated your commitment to your children's education By working together, we have fostered a sense of belonging and community that has enriched the educational journey of our students

As I pass the torch to the incoming PTA President, I am confident that our association will continue to flourish under her leadership I encourage you all to extend the same level of support and cooperation to the new President and their team as you have shown me Together, you can accomplish even greater things and continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our children

Thank you once again for allowing me the privilege to serve as your PTA President It has been an honor and a joy to work with each and every one of you I am confident that our PTA will continue to thrive and make a lasting impact on the lives of our children.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer break filled with joy, relaxation, and cherished moments with your loved ones.

With heartfelt gratitude,

APRIL/MAY EVENT WRAP-UP

The Spring Book Fair was a huge SUCCESS thanks to the students and families who stopped by. The total number of books purchased during the Fall and Spring book fairs is enough to fully fund Scholastic classroom magazines, add new books to classroom libraries, provide new material for the STEAM lab, and restock the book vending machine! A special thank you to Amanda R. and Irene S. for overseeing classroom visits during the day and all of the volunteers who ran the store before and after school. The fair could not have happened without your amazing help!

The final Readers Reception of the school year was held last month, and many classes enjoyed book readings by parents, grandparents, or other family members.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to participate in this event! Guest readers were treated to a PTA-sponsored reception with refreshments in the staff lounge.

High fives to all who attended the past two restaurant fundraisers! Both dine-outs brought in over $750! Our monthly dine-outs are a great way to bring in extra funds for our school while taking a night off from cooking.

And a special thank you to our partners at Chipotle and The Kebab Shop for hosting and each giving back 33% and 50% of proceeds, respectively.

Thank you to students and families who showed gratitude and kindness to our teachers and staff during Appreciation Week! Even the simplest expressions of appreciation can mean so much.

PTA showed additional appreciation with a grab-and-go breakfast as well as a lunch catered by Urbane Café. And new this year, the PTA provided each student with a flower to bring to their teacher.

Sponsored by Hage Elementary PTA

Last month, Hage students and their families had the opportunity to flex their creative muscles with guided lessons by Art Corps. This included exploring the works of Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and Eric Carle. It was so much fun to bring families together!

We are especially grateful for the student volunteers of the Food and Nutrition Club from Mira Mesa High School for their extraordinary volunteer support of this event.

Campus Beautification Day

Sponsored by Hage PTA

to all who helped make this day a success!

Saturday, May 20th was a day of hard work AND fun! Many Panther families attended this campus-wide service initiative and---in the process---infused Hage Elementary with pride

Students with their families school staff and community volunteers came together to beautify the campus and model being good environmental stewards

The work included

Installing Memory Tiles

Installing Fence Cups

Garden Maintenance Perimeter Delittering

Adding Positive Messages to Student Restrooms

...to the many parent & family volunteers who committed their time and energy to this program. YOU helped make this a huge success!

We are so grateful for Mr. Keith Kaneko, Ms. Lynn Barnes-Wallace, and the City of San Diego swim instructors for helping Hage Panthers find confidence and ability in the water... and for keeping them safe while doing it!

Finally, Hage PTA would like to recognize grants received from San Diego Community Projects Program & Services and the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego for their generous financial support to make the Hage Swim Program possible.

calling all fourth grade families...

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

As this school year comes to an end, we are faced with the bittersweet reality that our kids will be next year's 5th graders. This will be a special year for them—one that will offer them many special memories for years to come!

Each year, a new Promotion Committee is formed in support of promoting students. There are many ways to be a part of this fun experience—one that will directly impact your child. The more participation there is, the more our kids stand to benefit!

The Promotion Committee plans activities for Promotion Week and makes those plans come to life through a variety of fundraising efforts. Whether you are able to volunteer regularly, once-in-awhile, or even just once, your support will be welcomed and appreciated!

To learn more about how to be a part of next year's Promotion Committee, join us for a Zoom meeting on Thursday, June 1st from 6-6:30pm at https://sandiego.zoom.us/j/92706476004

In the meantime, take a look below at a few upcoming volunteer opportunities STARTING THIS YEAR, and sign up if you can! If you have any questions, please contact Kristyn Pittenger at promotion.hagepta@gmail.com.
