PANTHER PAW PRINTS
Hage Elementary School Newsletter

Hello Hage families,
We are well into the second half of the year and we have much to celebrate. Coming together as a community, we have seen the impacts of our connections on our students and their achievement academically, socially, and emotionally. On behalf of our staff, we appreciate and cherish our partnerships and commit to be alongside all of our families to support.
In the coming months we will be looking to build upon the foundations established up to this point. Our goals center around accelerating our students' learning opportunities especially in the ability to explain their learning. As always, family support will continue to be crucial in this work. Please continue to engage with your students around what they are learning, goals that they have set, and support they may need. Ask them how they arrived at their thoughts and answers. Being able to explain and zoom out to a place of their learning process will help our students make stronger gains and continued growth. Additionally, modeling how we successfully navigate challenges as adults will help our students find success. If you have ideas or wonderings around how to engage in this with your student, our staff will be right alongside you and available through ClassDojo, email, phone, or in person.
Alongside our academic work, we continue to deepen our character work with Leader in Me. We will be focusing on Habit #5 in February, “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood” and Habit 6 “Synergize” in March. These habits will be messaged in classrooms and across our system daily. As our students continue their leadership journey, we encourage all families to engage in conversations about these habits. Speak to your student about how they can show these leadership characteristics in a variety of settings (Ie. Classroom, recess, home, etc.).
Thank you for your continued support and please mark your calendars to join us during

DearHageFamilies,
ItwasabusyDecemberandJanuarybutwemadeitthrough.Withthehelpfroma number of you, we were able to put on a popular Penguin Patch Holiday Shop where the students had a fun time shopping for family members. Families were welcomedoncampustoenjoylunchwiththeirchildrenattheCali-QBBQlunchin December. We had the biggest turnout to date for a reading event on December 4th (a big thank you to all parents who showed up to read) and had a prosperous restaurantfundraiserinJanuary.
A fun time was had by all who watched Ratatouille at Family Movie Night, and an exciting, successful Apex Fun Run on January 30th where the majority of the students hit the goal of 36 laps or more. Thank you to all who helped out at these events to make them happen for our students’ and families’ enjoyment.
As we enter the next couple of months, Spring will be in the air and more events are being planned such as additional restaurant fundraisers, a reading event in March, the Scholastic Book Fair, and family night. These events cannot happen unless we have help to plan and organize a fun event for all. There is always room for more volunteers, helpers, and family attendance to continue to make Hage Elementary School a great place to be.
Another happening coming up fast is the election of Executive Board members for the 2025 – 2026 school year at the PTA General Meeting on Friday, March 14. If you are interested in being on the Executive Board of the PTA or taking an active role of leading a committee or team now or in the future, please reach out. Every member is welcome!
Just as I’m sure most are waiting to welcome Spring, I’m waiting to welcome students and families to all upcoming school events. Hope to see a lot of familiar faces!

This program builds confidence and ability in the water. This not only leads to safety while swimming, but also an overall sense of accomplishment and pride.
HOW?
The program exists because of the Hage P.E. Dept, Parent Volunteers, Teacher & Staff support, funding from the SDPDF, S.D. Park & Rec. Dept., and the Miramar Aquatic Center staff.
