We are very excited to be taking some Year 5 students away to the Arbolar Centre at Bea Beach, Murcia for the Year 5 residential in Spain.
On this immersive language trip, the Arbolar group leaders use cultural excursions, Spanish workshops and water sports to encourage students to use their Spanish throughout the trip.
Students will have an invaluable opportunity to converse and engage with native Spanish speakers in real-life situations at every turn. They will learn water and beach sports with fully qualified water sport instructors whilst experiencing Spanish culture and using their language in a supportive and encouraging environment. The children will have the chance to experience an authentic Spanish neighbourhood on a guided visit and 'market mission' to a local town, and they will test their culinary skills by creating a typical Spanish dish.
“To speak a language is to take on a world, a culture.”
Frantz Fanon

We will share photos of our time in Spain on Padlet so you can follow along with our fun activities.
Before the trip, your child’s preferences will be noted and they will not eat anything they have an allergy to or cannot eat due to religious reasons. This list will be given to the centre so they are aware. If you have any concerns or additional questions, please contact Miss King.
This situation is one that we encounter every year. Please have a discrete chat with Miss Jeffries who will arrange for a sheet to be placed on your child’s bed during a quiet moment. This will be checked each morning, when the room is empty, and will be changed without comment if they are wet
Our aim is for every child to have a wonderful week away with the year group. We find it is rare for a pupil to feel homesick, especially with all the activities they will be doing! If your child does begin to feel homesick, please be assured we will support them and call home if needed. Do remember, no news is good news!
