Head of Prep School’s Message
Ms K UmplebyI hope you have all had a super week, we certainly have in the Prep School. It has also been lovely to reconnect with so many of you during the Year 4 and Year 6 Curriculum Evenings and the Year 3 and Year 5 Parent Drop-ins.
Mrs Best’s fantastic assembly this afternoon was focused on what she referred to as ‘The Toothpaste Phenomenon’. Imagine a tube of toothpaste – once it’s squeezed out, you can’t put it back in. In the same way, words and actions, once released, can’t be taken back. Our children need to understand the impact of their words and actions on others and take responsibility for them. Additionally, when they see their friends crossing lines, they should feel empowered to speak up and prevent harm from spreading further – we need to ensure we do not allow a culture of bystander silence. In our society, there are times when people, including our friends, may exhibit behaviours or make comments that are hurtful, disrespectful, or harmful to others. It’s crucial that we encourage our children to find their voice and have the courage to speak out when they witness such situations.
Toxic masculinity and misogyny are issues that persist in society, and it’s our responsibility to equip our children with the tools to combat them. Encourage your children to critically evaluate the behaviour and attitudes of their friends. If they disagree with something a friend says or does, they should feel comfortable addressing it respectfully and constructively. This not only helps to break the cycle of toxic behaviour but also fosters healthier relationships and a more inclusive environment.
Teaching our children to stand up against toxic behaviour requires open communication and modelling these behaviours ourselves. Let’s lead by example, and if we work together, we can empower our children to be courageous and compassionate individuals, who contribute to a more inclusive and respectful world.
Have a great weekend!

Reception to Year 6 Fantasy Premier League - Message from Mr Miller
SATURDAY 16 SEPTEMBER
I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new head of Prep P.E and Games. It has been a pleasure meeting the boys this week and I eagerly anticipate teaching your sons throughout their time in the Prep School.
The football season is back, and I have created a new Fantasy Football league for our school community, which includes the Prep School pupils, staff and parents (Reception to Year 6). It would be wonderful to have as many participants as possible in the Habs Prep Fantasy League which will commence on Saturday 16 September. After joining, I’ll provide regular updates on your team’s performance throughout the season. Plus, there’s a trophy in store for the champion! Please follow the details and link below if you wish to join in the fun.
For the 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League why don’t you join my mini league “Habs Boys’ Prep Fantasy League?”
Joining the league couldn’t be easier. Click here and you’ll be added automatically after you’ve entered the game.
League Code: gfqw2s
Our school league will start from the first game on Saturday 16 September. If you already have a team set up on this Fantasy Football platform, you can join our school league using the details above. However, any previous points you have already accumulated this season will not be added to your team in this league. Everyone starts afresh from Saturday 16 September.
I am looking forward to playing against you this season!

Family Photos
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In Reception we are excited to create a ‘Our Class Families Book’ to help to learn about each other and celebrate what makes us unique. To help with this, we ask that you please send in photos of people who are special to your child. Each child will have an A3 sized page in the book and therefore, you are welcome to send several photos.
Your child will draw and annotate around the photos and present/discuss their page with the class. You can send in photos as a hard copy; if so, please drop us a note in the message book to say they are in your child’s bag in case they forget to retrieve them. Alternatively, if you would prefer to email them, please email Miss Pearson at pearson_n@habsboys.org.uk or Miss Lewis at lewis_l@habsboys.org.uk. Thank you for your help with this.
