Blue Water U15 Girls’ Development League
Atotal of eight secondary schools in Linden, Region 10 jumped at the chance to be a part of the B l u e W a t e r U 1 5 G i r l s ’ Development League. The Guyana Football Federation (GFF)’s competition officially kicked off on April 30 in Linden, with two dynamic games between Wisburg Secondary School, McKenzie High School and Christianburg-Wismar SecondarySchool.



The afternoon matches were held on the Wisburg Secondary School pitch in Wismar and attended by students, teachers, parents and residents. “It’s fantastic to see on the first day we have all the schools out here. I am also happy that the spectators came out. The launch has been a tremendous success. We are happy to see the support from the community as we seek to ensure football is accessible to girls in Linden,” sharedGFFActingTechnicalDirectorBryan Joseph.
The league was launched in Georgetown in May 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and is now being played across Guyana, including in the Rupununi, Region Nine(UpperTakutu-UpperEssequibo) It was created to promote football development amongst girls in communities across Guyana with an aim to develop young talent for the national teams and to give coaches and match officials more opportunitiesonandoffthepitch.
