Secures Concacaf Gold Cup

Prelims Spot For Second Time
Guyana’s Senior Men’s National Team qualified for the Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims in March following a second place finish in Group C of League B in the 2022–23 Concacaf Nations League. This is the second time the male squad has made it to the Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims, following one ofthemostcompetitiveNationsLeaguecampaignsina group with Haiti. Haiti finished top of the group with 16 points and advanced to the Gold Cup, while the Golden Jaguars three wins, one draw and two losses added up to a total of 10 points with Bermuda and Montserrat on four points each. The team,ablendofyouthandexperiencewiththreegoalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders and six forwards, showed an improved defensive organisation throughout the tournament. The 2023 Gold Cup Prelims will take place between June 1620 in the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States. Twelve participating teams have been divided into six pairings for two direct elimination rounds. Guyana will play Grenada on Saturday, June 17 in their first match. Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz said he has selected a competitive squad for the upcomingmatches.
