FILM ARCHIVE
SPRING 2021
In order to design a film archive in a former parking garage, I analyzed program, and circulation of the project proposal, which included three theaters, a gallery, and the archive itself. Then, I used collage to communicate the human scale and all the experiential aspects of the design.
03
I decided to make the entire parking garage a film archive itself instead of a bounded program. The shelves were used to shape experience and circulation. In some parts of the building, the archive structure is used as a walls or for seating.
04
For this project, I did a site analysis, research, and explorations using study models to propose a resolved architectural design of the San Luis Obispo Re-cyclery. The fundamental aspect of this project was to integrate form, space, and tectonics to shape an intentional experience.
Then, I conveyed the proposal using 2D architectural conventions and collages.

The building was designed to be an extention of the bike lane by the rails. In this way, it invites cyclists to be part of the building and they can fix their bikes in the repair space. The rounded shape promotes easy circulation within the floor ramps. Public spaces are placed on the roof so the visitors can enjoy the view. Areas with less circulation and access to sunlight are used for storage.

INTERPRETIVE AND RESEARCH CENTER
In this project, I conducted a site analysis at the Salinas Dam, Santa Maria, and designed an interpretive and research center to delevop a strategy to engage the site. I experimented with various strategies through sketches and study models. This design was intended to intensify existing conditions and create likes between human and site scales.

After visiting the site, my goal was that visitors could experience the river below the dam and also see the views beyond it. I created two volumes as interpretive center, and the third bottom one became a research center closer to the site.

DESIGN VILLAGE SPRING 2021
Design Village was an architectural experience that involved group work to design a full-scale, temporary structure. Our goal was to think about the design through drawings, models, precedents, and material experimentation. Meanwhile, we had to deal with site, money, and time constraints. With a lot of work, we were able to come up with a design concept and fabricate it at the studio (sewing) and CAED shop. Wood and donated sails were the main materials used to make the Wind Rose a reality. The structure was used as a dwelling space for a weekend. All the materials that housed us for two nights are being reused as sail bags and wood study models.
12
Wind Rose construction process was not easy. After a lot of sewing done by Malia and hours spent at the woodshop, we had all the materials required to bring to Poly Canyon. We collapsed the sail hammocks with the wood base as a fan and added wheels to them. This is how we were able to bring the bulk structure to the site. We used the central net to transport the braces. Now, we pretend to keep making bags with the left sails and design some wood furniture when we are back in fall.
Work done in collaboration with Lucas Marroquinortiz, Malia Marantan, Grace Gruvermann, Jared Mian, and Dylan Cloonan.

LIVING SPACE SPRING 2021
The Commune Terrazzo is a multi-use housing complex designed to be an urban community in a microcosm. My objective was to design 18 affordable housing units for 45 people considering density, solar orientation, access and parking, privacy, security and territoriality, and the mixing of housing and other retail spaces. We were required to have retail and office space to provide income for the residents. I started the design with a single dwelling unit. I chose the terraced shape once it allows more access to sunlight and cross-ventilation. From that principle, I was able to design the whole building from plan drawings.
