SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL 2019

…IT WAS GREAT TO STAND THERE AND WATCH ROB MAKE HISTORY BY WINNING THE FIRST ROUND OF THE 2017 BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP. FORMULA ONE DRIVERS HAVE BEEN CREATED IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP, YET NONE OF THEM HAVE ACHIEVED WHAT ROB HAS. HE HAS A BIG FUTURE IN THIS SPORT IF HE CAN ACHIEVE THE HELP OF SPONSORSHIP. CHRIS MCCARTHY,

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, KARTING MAGAZINE 2018

I am 17 years old from Ipswich, Suffolk. I only started karting in 2013 at Anglia Indoor Karting aged 11. I progressed through the YoungStarz Cadet Club at Red Lodge and Ellough Park Junior League before buying my own kart to race and obtaining my MSA National Kart Licence. In 2017, still relatively new to the sport, I took part in the prestigious Super One British Kart Championships, previously won by the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson. I MADE ‘SUPER ONE CHAMPIONSHIP’ HISTORY becoming the first driver in 35 years to win on their debut.

MORE THAN A RACING DRIVER I volunteer every fortnight (race meetings permitting) at Red Lodge Karting, Newmarket at YoungStarz coaching those new to the sport, supporting them, teaching them racing skills and building confidence on track and off it. I coach a 10 year old driver at various tracks around the UK preparing him for racing in his own kart, teaching race craft, preparing him mentally as well as supporting his family as they begin their own racing journey. I also assist my team Precision Racing coaching the younger drivers. I have also been accepted into Suffolk One where I will be continuing with further education in the form of a one year BTEC Mechanics qualification.

HOW I PREPARE TO WIN I work hard to prepare for racing. I make sure I keep myself at peak levels of fitness both on my own and with my personal trainer/sponsor. I also do Pilates to increase core strength, flexibility and recovery. I study footage of different race circuits, familiarising myself with the driving styles of my competition which helps me on race day. I also review videos of my own driving to assess where I can make improvements or see where I have got it right. I utilise the Izone Driver Performance Facility at Silverstone, taking advantage of their simulator, fitness suite and psychometric exercises. In my spare time I relax by playing tennis, fishing, listening to music and watching films.

WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUE I am extremely competitive and very much a perfectionist when it comes to my own performance!! I am also known around the paddock for being well mannered and respectful. I am dyslexic and have had to adjust my style of learning to cope analytically. I believe dealing with dyslexia in my younger years and being made to feel below standard played a massive part in my utter determination to succeed. I am no longer scared to travel a different path. I don’t have the budget of some, which means I have not been able to spend as much time on track as my competitors, despite this with hard work and the support of those around me I have still achieved considerable success in a short amount of time.

ABOUT ME…

I describe myself as cheeky with an outgoing personality but I am completely driven and fully prepared to push my limits to ensure I achieve my goals. I don’t expect anyone to do it for me!

I was also highlighted as one the favourites to win British title in 2018 by Motorsport TV commentators.

2018 Featured article in AUTOSPORT MAGAZINE (UK’s leading motor racing magazine with an International online following of over 3 million). Featured article in MOTORPSORT NEWS. Rob Welham first came to my attention back in 2015 when I was tasked to select a ‘One to Watch’ for Karting magazine where I had just started working at the time. Being a commentator as well as a Journalist I had seen Rob racing and with five years’ experience behind the wheel myself I have an eye for spotting future talents. It was Rob’s pace combined with his superb race craft that had me telling my Editor, this kid is going places. I then had the pleasure of meeting Rob who has the best attitude of any junior driver I have come across over 10 years in the sport. Whilst others played on bikes and scooters, Rob was cleaning his kart and thinking of ways to improve on track the next day. Two years later and it was great to stand there and watch Rob make history by winning the first round of the 2017 British Championship. Formula One drivers have been created in this championship, yet none of them have achieved what he has. He has a big future in this sport if he can achieve the help of sponsorship. I’ve tested the F1000 car and I think it’s a perfect first step for Rob. The car is fantastic and is the best junior single seater series to develop race craft. He’s broken one record already, if given the chance I think he’d break another in 2019!”

2019 PLANS‌ The rest of 2018 I will be preparing for next year’s full F1000 Championship season. Without being able to test at the circuits I have raced at in F1000 to date, I have still managed to earn a 4th placed finish and a 3rd place podium as well as a fastest lap at Donington only 2 tenths off the lap record. I will spend the winter months training and testing to gain as much seat time as I can to ensure I am ready to make the most of every opportunity next year. I have already been featured in Autosport News, the largest motorsport magazine in the UK and on BBC Local Radio who both want regular updates to publicise my progress. I also have a team of media and design experts within my team to help maximise both my own and my sponsor’s profiles. I am actively seeking support from commercial partners to join me in this fantastic opportunity, to enable me to progress in motorsport and fulfil the potential I, and others know I have. It is also an opportunity for you to become involved in the addictive and exciting world of motorsport at some of the best circuits in the UK. I look forward to creating long term mutually beneficial relationships with my sponsors and see what we can achieve together! If you are interested in joining my team and have me represent your company then please get in touch. I have attached further details as to how you can get involved and how this partnership may benefit you.

WORKING WITH SPONSORS Requesting assistance through sponsorship is a responsibility I don’t take lightly as I will not only be representing myself, my team and my family but also those who have chosen, through both financial support and specialist expertise, to join our racing family. I have built relationships with my current sponsors through delivering on promises and also trying to find different ways to promote their business as well as myself. For example I invited one of my sponsors for an afternoon of karting which was filmed and this has since had several thousand views online. I attended a trade stand for another at a local Motorsport show to talk about how I started karting at their facility and my achievements to promote new business. I was also invited to a Q & A session for new starters and their parents and to present end of year Championship trophies. I spent ‘a day in the life’ with my personal trainer/sponsor and completed a 14 hour shift, meeting clients and posting regular social media updates throughout the day. I have paid visits to sponsors premises to find out more about their work and also to discuss ways in which we can help each other going forward. These visits also served to highlight their businesses on social media. These are just a few examples and will look to continuing these and developing exciting new ideas and opportunities in the future

SPONSORSHIP WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU? WHAT DO YOU AS A POTENTIAL SPONSOR GET FOR YOUR MONEY? Motor Racing is an expensive business and it is only with the help and support of sponsors and investors that I will be able to continue racing. Sponsorship packages start from as little as £500 per season. In return I would give your company regular publicity via my social media feeds to nearly 3,000 followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. My Race Suit and Car would feature your company logo and you’ll receive regular progress reports from myself via email. If you choose to invest a larger sum to help my racing career then I will do my up-most to ensure your sponsorship directly benefits your business and our partnership is rewarding for everyone involved. There is no upper limit to the amount of support and sponsorship you can offer. I’m happy to tailor suitable sponsorship packages to suit all your needs and budget. A selection of potential additional sponsor benefits are listed below:

• Company logo to feature on team apparel, event specific promotional material and garage back drops. • Personal visits to your company. This could also include a video shot by Hot Mug Media, which would be promoted through my social media channels. • TV and Radio publicity from races. • The opportunity to be my featured race sponsor. Including a roller banner in the paddock and the opportunity for you to distribute information about your business to racegoers, drivers and teams. • Complimentary tickets and hospitality at selected race meetings. This is just an example of what I can offer potential sponsors. I’m always open to new ideas you might have to maximise the benefit of your investment. I firmly believe in cultivating long term, mutually beneficial partnerships with my sponsors rather than short-term agreements lasting just one season. My ultimate aim is to fulfil my potential and to drive at the highest level possible but I can only achieve this with the right help.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, I hope to speak to you soon. In the mean time if you have any questions or would like any further information please get in touch.
