FEEL, THINK, LIVE, BE... WELL!
January 18, 2023, 1:00 pm webinar:
What do Greece, California, Italy, Japan, and Costa Rica all have in common? Each of these locations contain a Blue Zone. Blue Zones are areas of the world where people live the longest. Researchers have long studied these areas to identify what it is about their lifestyle, diet, culture, and routines that allow them to live long, healthy lives. Please join us in this webinar as we “travel” to Ikaria, Loma Linda, Sardinia, Okinawa, and the Nicoya Peninsula to find out!
What do Okinawa; Sardinia; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Icaria; and Loma Linda, all have in common? Longevity! Now known as The Blue Zones, these regions are of growing interest to those researching the patterns, lifestyles and habits of people who enjoy long, healthy lives On your Journey to a Better You, travel to the Blue Zones and consider how the Power 9 might pave the way to a long, healthy life for you and those you love. The Power 9:
Move Naturally. You don’t have to establish an intense power-workout or do marathon running to enjoy the benefits of physical activity.
Sense of Purpose. Why do you wake up in the morning? Knowing your sense of purpose can add years to your life what’s yours?
Manage Your Stress. Routine stress management and relaxation practices reduce the risk of chronic inflammation. And every major age-related disease has links to stress…sounds like now is a good time to learn to relax!
Eat Until You Are 80% Full. If you stop eating when you no longer feel hungry rather than waiting until you feel full, weight gain may become a thing of the past.
Plant Slant. Most Blue Zones seem to share a penchant for beans: fava beans, black beans, soybeans and lentil beans to be precise. Beans anyone?
Moderate Wine Consumption. Don’t forget the word moderate on this one, or friends and food! One to two glasses a day seems to be the magic number.
Find Your Community. Looks like you can add 4 to 14 years to your life by attending a faithbased service of your choice four times a month.
Put Family First Keeping aging parents and grandparents nearby or in the home, committing to a life partner, and investing time and love into your children are Blue Zone priorities.
Maintain a Fulfilling Social Life. This Power 9 attribute is easy to understand, “the world’s longest-lived people chose or were born into social circles that supported healthy behaviors”.
FEEL, THINK, LIVE, BE... WELL!

(You might know her work from the popular podcast “Bite-Sized Habits ”)
We spoke with her to get some tips on how to move toward our health and fitness goals today, tomorrow, in 2020 and beyond. Click here for tips.
