Shady Creek Greenway Lorraine Davis Park to Larson Park

“Having a bike/walking path that’s entirely separate from the road would make it much safer. This project as a whole would strengthen the utility of the Great Rivers Greenways by those in Webster Groves, both as a recreation and transportation amenity.”

“I don’t want to see the wildlife sanctuary encroached upon any more than it is. The displaced deer from the Brentwood Park project already terrorize my garden nearby because they have nowhere to go.”

“The project should reduce floods and divert water during rain events. The plan should not increase flash flooding risk.”

“I just love this idea and think it’s really needed in the area for biking and walking safety!”

“Safety always. Environmental including protecting birds & other creatures & added native plantings w/ educational signage.”

“The unequivocal need to expand this safe connectivity to Schools, Community Center, Parks, Webster College and all neighborhoods in Webster Groves.”

“I want citizens to be able to see the creek and surrounding wild areas/riparian corridor as a resource, instead of ignoring it or viewing it as contaminated.”

“My only concern is what will happen to the median greenspace that is currently in the middle of Kirkham. I like that space the way it is and it separates traffic and is visually attractive.”

“Keep pedestrians, bikers, & vehicles separate, Golf carts need to stay out of the bike and pedestrian lanes.”

“Disturbance and destruction of the nature sanctuary in this small area. Undoing the very purpose for which this small parcel was established.”

“This area has a lot of dangerous vehicle traffic so I am in favor of robust pedestrian safety measures (separating the greenway significantly from the road).”

“In addition to being a welcoming entrance to Webster Groves, the existing green medians are traffic calming. I lived in the area before the medians were installed, and they are a vast improvement to the aesthetics and safety of this stretch of Kirkham.”

“Water Flow and I hope that the medians are replaced because that did help with noise and traffic up and down the block.”

“Ensuring that if we get a greenway segment that it will be connected to more greenways in the near future; ensuring that the traffic calming features of Kirkham along that section are not removed; ensuring that green space and porous surfaces for drainage are protected.”

“It makes sense to me to build this section while the street is already torn up vs waiting until it is repaired and starting over. I do know flooding has been a problem along Kirkham but hopefully the work that has been done to the North has helped that.”
