GRAPHICIDENTITYMANUAL

The success of the Greenville College graphic identity depends on the use of consistent standards by everyone involved in Greenville College communications including employees, vendors, students and others who use the school’s name or graphics.

Greenville College is the sole owner of its name and graphics including any logo, signature, symbol, mark, seal, nickname, letters, word or derivative, whether or not registered, that can be associated with Greenville College and distinguished from those of other institutions or entities. Greenville College protects and

enhances its reputation by assuring that its graphics are displayed according to institutional guidelines appearing only on appropriate materials or products.

The Marketing Office will provide production assistance as needed and answer any questions regarding graphic standards, trademarks and licensing. Please send questions to media@greenville.edu.

Official marks should be used on all forms of Greenville College communication. Any attempt to use a logo, symbol, mark, or seal other than those referenced in this document to represent Greenville College will be considered a violation of the school’s graphic guidelines.

GREENVILLE COLLEGE LOGOTYPE

The official Greenville College logotype is the primary element of the school’s visual identity. Two versions are available, Greenville College Stacked and Greenville College Horizontal. Appropriate uses for the logotype include print and digital communication such as business cards, e-mails, envelopes, letterhead, marketing materials, merchandise, publications and web pages.

The typeface used for the logotype has been customized. Do not attempt to recreate the logotype using a standard typeface. The logotype must always be clearly legible. The logotype may not be combined with other words or modified in any way.

Contact the Marketing Office if a specific situation requires the use of an office, department or school within the logotype. Include a deadline, and a description of the desired use (letter, application, web page, etc.).

Orange and black are the official Greenville College colors. Through the years, many colors have been used including several shades of orange. Pantone 166 C has been selected as the specific shade of orange to create consistency in representing the Greenville College identity.

COLOR

Orange and black are strong colors. Their bold appearance is an eye-catching distinctive of the Greenville College graphic identity. However, white is the recommended background for any communication that contains moderate to heavy text. Clarity and readability are key to the overall strength of the Greenville College graphic identity.

The Greenville College logotype should never be printed using colors other than orange, black, or white.

Limit background colors to white, black, orange or gray. A photograph or illustration may appear as a background if it is neutral enough for the logotype to be legible. Do not place the logotype on patterned backgrounds that impair the readability. Conform to the following two-color or one-color options when using the logotype. Please note that all two-color reproductions include an orange line, so an orange background can not be used with the two-color logotype. All other reproductions will be considered a violation of the school’s graphic guidelines.

Two variations of the logotype have been created. To ensure legibility, Greenville College Stacked should never be reproduced at sizes smaller than 1.5 inches wide in print, and Greenville College Horizontal should never be reproduced at sizes smaller than 2.3 inches wide in print.

A prescribed amount of clear space around the logotype should be maintained at all times. Adhere to the measurements shown in the clear space diagram. No type or graphic element may appear in this space.

Clear space should also exist between the logotype and the edge of the page or design area. Minimum surrounding space requirements prevent the Greenville College logotype from being misrepresented or trivialized. Exceptions may be necessary for return addresses, business cards or other small imprint areas. Contact the Marketing Office with any questions. Follow the clear space requirement unless given exception from the Marketing Office.

Athletic and spirit marks serve as bold visuals for Greenville College intercollegiate athletics intended to communicate team pride. Athletic and spirit marks may also be used by intramural sports teams, student groups, sports camps, and other campus departments or groups wishing to show support for Greenville College athletics.

The orange used in athletic and spirit marks matches the orange in the Greenville College Logotype (Pantone 166). Athletic and spirit marks should not be used in conjunction with the official Greenville College logotype. Do not attempt to recreate or alter the athletic logo, athletic logotype, or spirit marks.
