In 2024 , American sports entertainment company Topgolf broke ground on a new three-level driving range facility in Woodbury, with plans to open in late 2025 . The site will also include the construction of Main Event , an entertainment center opening in 2026 that will offer bowling, arcade games, laser tag and more.

Ojibway Park, one of Woodbury’s largest parks and host of multiple annual events, is also the site for outdoor movies. Made possible by Starlight Cinema, the summer series features not only family-friendly films, but also other activities like face painting, hula hoop contests, trivia and more. For movie lovers, head to one of Woodbury’s movie theaters. Woodbury 10 Theatre features 10 screening rooms, concessions, an arcade room with vintage video games and more for the whole family. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema—while known for its on-site bar Glass Half Full—offers family-friendly screenings and showtimes. Every July 4, the city hosts the Fourth of July Hometown Celebration at M Health Fairview Sports Center. In addition to fireworks, attendees will be treated to live music, food trucks and nearby playgrounds open for use.
Woodbury Days —a free family event at Ojibway Park showcasing all that makes Woodbury great—is held annually in August. Hosted in the spring by the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, the Woodbury Area Community EXPO showcases over 150 local businesses and organizations across various local industries. If you love golf, Woodbury has two indoor simulator options that offer an alternative way to play the sport. X-Golf features six state-of-the-art simulators as well as instruction for young beginners. In addition, golfers will enjoy darts and other games on-site. Try out courses from across the globe including the PGA National at BIRDI GOLF. The attraction also features a driving range as well as arcade-style games.
With over 180 miles of trails, 3,600 acres of green space and eight lakes, Woodbury offers outdoor recreation for every type of nature lover.
One of the most sought-after outdoor destinations in Woodbury is Tamarack Nature Preserve. The 169-acre location allows visitors to walk through wetlands and woodlands via two nature trails. Hikers may also get a glimpse of some of the vegetation and wildlife that call the preserve home, like hummingbirds and ducks.
For the hikers, runners and bikers wanting scenic trails near other amenities, look no further than Ojibway Park . The park’s 2 . 4 -mile loop is both paved and unpaved, passing through tall prairie grasses and dense forest. Visiting in the winter? Some parts of the trail are available for cross-country skiing, too.
Edgewater Park is a beautiful park located on the south end of Colby Lake. Colby Lake Loop is a popular paved trail with road bikers. Prairie Ridge Park Loop is slightly shorter than Edgewater, sitting at 1.5 miles and passes through woodlands and wetlands. Carver Lake Park is an excellent option for bikers, with both a bike park playground and an off-road cycling trail.
Enjoy an afternoon on the links at Eagle Valley Golf Course’s 18-hole course. Offering programs for youth and adults and boasting a practice course, Eagle Valley is ideal for beginners and advanced golfers alike. Prestwick Golf Club is popular not only for its beautiful course and grounds but also The ’Wick Pub, which
serves a diverse food and cocktail menu. Minnesota and Woodbury offer great opportunities for fishing and water sports, thanks to the state’s many lakes. The City of Woodbury is committed to creating inclusive outdoor spaces for people of all abilities. Madison’s Place Playground is a 16,000-square-foot wheelchair accessible playground featuring swings, covered play decks, sensory play equipment and ramps.
Located on the M Health Fairview Sports Center campus, Madison’s Place Playground opened in 2016 via funds from the Madison Claire Foundation—a nonprofit organization created in memory of Madison Claire Millington.
Additional adaptive recreation is available through the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department .
