How do tugboats move big ships through busy waterways? Find out by exploring pushes and pulls. Investigate with balls, toy cars, and wooden block boats. Work with models on land and in water. Discover what it takes to make a ship move, speed up, slow down, turn, and stop. Then use what you learn to keep a tugboat from bouncing too far from its dock.

In the Spotlight: Is it windy today? Use a wind tool to find out. Measure temperature with a thermometer. Analyze data to describe weather changes over seasons. How does weather affect the choices you make each day? Along the way, ask yourself, How does my new knowledge help me understand the world?
