Staying Ahead in an Ever-Changing Digital World

Supporting homegrown policing solutions

Alberta’s government is providing $7 million in additional funding to Grande Prairie to help the community transition to a municipal police service.

The province is supporting the City of Grande Prairie with an additional $7 million in funding as it transitions to a municipal police service.

This new funding reinforces and builds on the province’s initial $9.7 million two-year commitment.

Since 2023, Grande Prairie has made significant progress in hiring officers and civilian staff, procuring equipment, and beginning the development of essential IT infrastructure for a municipal police service. This support from the province ensures that the city can keep the momentum of its transition going as it lays critical groundwork for the Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS).

The funding will support the projected start-up costs associated with building and implementing the new service, including salaries, benefits, recruitment, equipment and training. The GPPS is expected to become the primary police service of jurisdiction for Grande Prairie in 2026.

Emergency evacuation support for Albertans

Alberta’s government is providing one-time emergency evacuation payments to help ease the financial burden for those forced from their homes due to wildfires or other disasters. Tariff support for your business

As of April 2 until June 30, 2025, the CRA is deferring corporate income tax payments and GST/HST remittances. Interest will also be waived on new and existing GST/HST and T2 instalment and arrears payments due between April 2 and June 30, 2025. Interest will resume on July 1, 2025.

Businesses do not need to be directly impacted by tariffs to benefit from this relief, but are still required to file by their due date to remain compliant.

Businesses, are you ready for your CRA mail to go online?

The CRA has started the transition to online mail as the default method of delivering most business correspondence. Businesses will receive most business notices and other correspondence through CRA’s secure online portal, My Business Account, instead of by mail.

New business and program account registrations started May 12, 2025

Existing businesses start June 16, 2025

Bear Creek Dam Site Tours

Event date: June 19, 2025

The City of Grande Prairie is conducting a feasibility study to explore long-term options for the Bear Creek Dam and surrounding reservoir.

As part of the public engagement process, residents are invited to attend guided site tours to learn more about the proposed options and provide feedback.

Date: Thursday, June 19, 2025

Time: Tours run every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Location: Reservoir walking trails, south of 104 St & 107 Ave. Click here to view a map of the meeting point.

These tours provide an opportunity for the public to view the dam, ask questions and share input to help shape future plans for the site.
