Trenton Celebrates The Christmas Season
WINTER IN MISSOURI
3 To 9 Inches
5 Die Due To Snowy Roads BONNE TERRE, Mo. (AP) — At least five people have died in weather-related crashes in Missouri and Kansas amid a storm that dumped nearly a foot of snow in places, forced schools to close their doors and snarled traffic, authorities said. The wintry weather was part of a storm system that hit parts of the Midwest and was ex-
pected to extend into the Northeast through Tuesday, the National Weather Service said. In Missouri, the storm dumped 3 to 9 inches (7.6 to 22.9 centimeters) of snow across a large swath of the state. Much of Missouri was under either a winter weather advisory or winter storm warning Monday.

The Christmas feeling was evident in Trenton over the weekend as holiday celebrations were held throughout the community. The Grand River Valley Choir and Orchestra, pictured in the top photo, celebrated 10 years of performing with its annual Christmas concert, “Joyous Sounds of Christmas,” at the First Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon. Recognition was given to several individuals and businesses who have provided assistance to the GRVCO over the years, including charter members, founders, conductors, accompanists and monetary contributors. Special recognition went to Leslie Hixson, a member of the orchestra who has performed in all 21 concerts. Downtown Christmas activities were held on Saturday evening. After the traditional lighting of the Sesquicentennial Park holiday lights by Mayor Linda Crooks, 22 parade entries made their way down Main Street, showing off their holiday spirit with lights, decorations and, of course, Santa Claus. Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, pictured at left, captured top honors in the parade with an entry from Dorothy Taul and Delores Kuttler taking second. Other events on Saturday included a soup supper, children’s crafts and entertainment provided by the NCMC Dance Wave, SuperStars Studio and Midwest Synergy Dance Group. The team of Wes and Jenny Barone and Rob and Kelly Eller was the winner of the Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt held on Friday night. The team collected 33 of the 34 possible points. A total of 11 teams took part in the activity and were required to find and take pictures of 15 lighted decorations around Trenton as well as find and bring back 10 Christmas-related items. Bonus points were given for three additional tasks. The winning team received a $220 cash prize.
