A History of Excellence Inspiring the Future Bob Goodall, Jr. began building homes in 1983. Locally operated, Goodall Homes builds single family homes, cottages, townhomes, condos and villas throughout Tennessee. The Goodall Homes team mirrors Bob’s commitment to service and excellence in homebuilding. This commitment has been recognized through various awards throughout the years.

However, our largest indicator of success has always been based on customer satisfaction. The Goodall Homes Customer Care Department is managed in-house, allowing us the opportunity to deliver you the best quality service on your home both during construction and afterward. We also use Avid® Ratings, to measure, monitor & optimize the homebuyer experience.

In 2016—Clayton, one of America’s largest homebuilders, announced it acquired Goodall Homes. Goodall is the second site-built housing company to become part of Maryville-based Clayton, a subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.

Clayton, through its site-building arm, Clayton Properties, entered the site-built housing market to expand its portfolio of housing options to homebuyers.

In 2021 Goodall Homes acquired Legacy Homes of Alabama, the largest private homebuilder in Huntsville. The addition of Legacy Homes will allow Goodall Homes to continue to expand its new home footprint in North Alabama. The two companies also share a deep commitment to creating a positive, impactful culture for their Team Members that is based on their shared core values of honesty and integrity.

Open-Book Management Goodall Homes reviews its operational results regularly with the entire team, including financial statements and gross margins, and rewards strong financial performance through the use of “Great Game of Business Bonuses,” which are tied to the pre-tax profitability of the company. The Open Book management style was derived from the book, “The Great Game of Business” by Jack Stack.

Goodall Gives Back As part of living out our Core Values, Goodall Homes believes in giving back to its community. Recently Goodall Homes built 2 mortgage free homes for local disabled veterans through the non-profit Operation Finally Home. Other recent projects include Gallatin Miracle Park, Second Harvest Food Bank’s “Hunger Free Summer” campaign, Sumner County Food Bank, and Habitat for Humanity.

ON THE ROCK: A GOODALL HOMES FOUNDATION In 2021, Goodall Homes established On the Rock—a faith-based non-profit organization, dedicated to helping build prosperous lives within the special needs community. Our Mission is to serve and impact our communities through providing support, establishing resources, and creating opportunities for individuals with special needs.
