在佛教中，果代表结果、圆 满。佛教十分重视因果，万事 万法不离因果。其中，供鲜花 ，代表善因; 供水果，则代表善 果。佛教修行的境界也用果位来 表示，最高的境界就是成就佛果 ，也即是能够“自觉、觉他、觉满 ”。为了提醒自己达到这个圆满的 佛果，佛弟子常把鲜果供在佛前。
In Buddhism, fruit represents result and completion. Buddhism attaches great importance to Karma (cause and effect), Sentient beings’ action driven by intention (cetanā) which leads to future consequences. Among them, Flower Offering represents good cause, and Fruit Offering represents good effect and consequence. The attainment of highest realm in Buddhism practice is to achieve Buddhahood of “Conscious Awareness of Self, of Others and of Practices" (Fullness of Awareness). As a reminder upon oneself towards achieving this complete Buddhahood, devotees make Fruit Offering to the Buddha.
