Welcome from Goad Family Angus
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to look through our 2023 offering of sale bulls. Our bulls are developed with longevity in mind. We feel that by offering the bulls by private treaty, the bulls are able to slowly develop over a longer period of time. We want our bulls to look their best the day that they arrive at their new owners’ yards. You won’t see our bulls having the heaviest weaning weight or yearling weight as our end result is producing a bull that will work longer for his new owners. We have culled hard once again on our pen of bulls as we want to make sure we are offering some of our best every year and not just keeping a bull for no reason that is not going to benefit us or his new owners. Confirmation, foot structure, birthweight and performance are some of our most critical areas for culling.
This year it was again a huge honour to have bred the Canadian Angus Red Show Bull of the Year, from both a home raised dam and sire. This is two years in a row that Rumble has been able to claim this title. This is never an easy feat and not many bulls being able to claim two years in row. Congratulations to owners Shiloh Cattle Co, Miller Wilson Angus, and Riverside Angus for taking this bull up and down the show road.
The most exciting news that we have to share is Cole and Jolene welcomed a little boy on January 15, 2023. Ryatt Ballard Goad was born in Edmonton at 8:56am. The name Ballard comes from the Goad family and is Ryatt’s great great grandfather. Ballard was the one who originally settled on our current farmstead where we still currently reside. This will make Ryatt the 5th generation to be on the farm.
Thank you once again for having a look and considering our bulls. Please call if you have any questions that we can help out with or stop by any time for a tour through the bull pen.
All bulls will be semen tested, vaccinated for foot rot and delivered free of charge in April/ May.

With Ryatt being due in January we knew late summer that we wouldn't be able to take in any cattle shows or bull congress’ with any of our own animals this year. If we were able to take a group of bulls out this fall and winter, 180 would have been one of our top picks to be in the show pen. 180 takes many attributes from his sire, Statement with massive middle, spring of ribs, natural muscle shape that carries deep into his lower quarters. He's a hard one to miss in the pen. His dam is one of one of our most attractive Barndance daughters and I could have a whole pen of her type. His 3/4 sib in 191 would have been his pen mate if we had shown and would have made a heck of a pair of bulls together in my opinion.

A Lone Star son out of another top producing Reba female. 123’15 is the dam to our co-high selling bull to Double C Angus last year. He was a feature service sire to all of their heifers that sold through their reduction sale this last fall.
A younger bull in the pen but is not lacking performance compared to his earlier born pen mates. This is a bull that I have always appreciated from a young age and he’s gotten better with age. One of my top calving ease picks in the pen. I look forward to seeing who selects this bull as I think he’ll leave a really good set of replacement females

191 would have been another bull that would have been in the show pen if we were showing cattle this last fall and winter. I believe that the combination of 180 and 191 would have been a very cool pair of bulls together being 3/4 siblings and almost identical from the time they were born to yearling weights.
191 stems from another very attractive Barndance daughter, his daughters like 180 and 191 are the reason that we continue to use him selectively in our herd. We don’t truly know the value of these bulls like Barndance until he is long past gone and his daughters are 5-8 years into production.

Finally! I have been waiting for this cow to have a bull calf and being bred to Racer makes him even more exciting. Lucy 178D was purchased through the Ter-Ron bull and female as their high selling female. She’s been a cow that we have always admired and have been waiting for that one bull calf that we can use in our program to make more replacement females like her.
Dragster is a special son out of the dominate show bull Red DKF Racer 8E. We have admired a few Racer progeny over the years so we were excited to try him out on some of our own cows. We want to keep a walking interest in Dragster so that we can walk him with cows each year at the end of April for 2 cycles. We would like to work with partners so that he can walk in two programs each year. Please call for details.

Mission 94A is the bull that has done so much for our herd in such a short period of time. I could honestly use him every year and still never feel like I have enough of his progeny. They are such consistent calves they all calve easy and once they hit the ground they just keep gaining and never slow down.
244 is from our famed cow family, the Reba’s. 244 is just a little bit extra special as her dam would be a maternal sister to Mess. Mess is now working for Larry Rudolf.
I know we’ve had a few Mission calves the last couple of years but don’t miss out on this guy. He’s one of the really good Mission’s that we’ve raised.

As Owen Legaarden would say, this bull he is the meat and potatoes of the bull pen. He's all bull; big hipped and middled, deep muscled, long bodied, all while standing on a solid dark foot. Its not too often that you will find a red angus bull that has as much or more performance than a lot of simmental bulls in the country. I have admired this guy for a very long time, and it has crossed my mind numerous times that we should be keeping him to use on our commercial cows as he wont sacrifice weaning weights and will leave females that you cant get enough of.

I remembered about this bull last year and we had to search for semen as he is an older bull that is getting hard to find. The Count is out of a first calving Mission daughter and a cow family that is really coming on strong the last couple of years in our herd. The Count ranks in the top 5% of the breed for CE and BW, along with being in the top 35% for WW and YW, being a rare combination for a heifer bull. The Count is a bull that we are very high on for a heifer bull and want to work with new owners to be able to use him in our heifer pen the next couple of years. Talk to us about full details
