2025 Goad Family Angus Bull Catalogue

Page 1

Welcome from Goad Family Angus

Thank you for looking through our 2025 offering of 42 yearlings and 3 two-year-old bulls It truly is remarkable how the years pass, and the support that we have received from customers over the years has been phenomenal. I believe this is the 13th year that we have been selling bulls by private treaty off the farm. This alleviates some pressure and allows for all customers to come at their leisure and tour through the pen and take a look through the cows.

2024 has been a year of lots of opportunity and promise for beef cattle that all farmers have never seen before. Cole and Jolene welcomed their second son, Carver Douglas, on May 23 Chores around the farm have sure become more entertaining with the boys around. We’re not sure if Ryatt or Papa love the “help” feeding cows in the tractor together more! We can just imagine what this summer is going to be like when both boys are walking and want to be involved. This summer we did some research on when the Goad homestead was established and turns out 1912 was when Goads first settled on our home quarter. We were honoured to receive our century farm plaque this fall.

Our catalogue is out a bit later than usual Normally we try and picture the first week of January before calving really kicks in but decided to wait a month this year. We feel this has allowed the bulls to mature and fill out more. This group of bulls offers something for everyone. Calving ease and performance backed by maternal dams, good feet, and quiet disposition. Bulls have been culled hard right from birth to semen testing. The catalogue features the actual weights for weaning on September 22 and yearling weights on January 18. Please reach out to us to discuss your bull needs and we can recommend bulls that can work for your program.

RED GOAD BOURBON 183'24

When looking for a true herd bull, it must all start with his dam The 183 cow is our best producing dam hands down! She has raised 3 herd changing bull calves in a row now She raised the Pilsner bull that is making waves at Double C Angus in Saskatchewan, we kept her next son to walk in our heifer pen last year and these calves are looking fantastic at an early age. But Bourbon could be her best effort to date. Our good friends at Corona Creek purchased Merlot out of the stall at Farmfair. Dale offered us some semen on Merlot and we are sure excited about the calves we are getting from it. We sampled 5 straws and Bourbon was the only bull calf. He is the only registered son out of Merlot making him an even more rare sire. If you are a pedigree person, take a look Bourbon’s pedigree and you will find a long list of donor dams for big operations, that have numerous progeny registered for each one of these dams. This is a bull that we are excited to also incorporate into our AI program.

RED GOAD DESIGNER 184'24

SIRE: RED HOWE DESIGNER 63X

RED GOAD REBA 144'15

Long bodied, dark red colour, hairy, and calving ease with some growth We get asked all the time for heifer bulls with all those traits and 184 could be one of the best that we have raised that exhibit all these traits.

Maternal Sib

RED GOAD OUTSIDER 196'24

196 offers a calving ease option from our Outsider bull. Outsider was used as a cleanup bull for a couple of years, and his females have just started to milk and we could use a whole bunch more females like his. If you are looking to make replacement females and have a calving ease option, 196 checks all the boxes. SIRE: RED GOAD OUTSIDER 172'21

RED GOAD MULBERRY 215'24

SIRE: RED FINE LINE MULBERRY 26P

A powerful made Mulberry son, coming from our Reba cow family These Reba cows have helped build our herd from the start. We have 5 full sib females and the dam of 215 is one of them. I like to try older proven bulls on these females and see how they work out. Seems like you can mate these cows any way and they will produce a marketable calf. 215 could be one of our top maternal bulls in the pen.

RED GOAD MULBERRY 218'24

SIRE: RED FINE LINE MULBERRY 26P

A full sib by blood to the 215 bull, but is more of a calving ease option compared to his brother. Mulberry is a bull that has shaped the red angus breed to what it is today, he is a 21 year old bull that is still used with a lot of success to this day, and is one of the best female makers in recent years. It’s hard to find a herd that he hasn’t impacted in one way or another

RED GOAD FORTRESS 220'24

SIRE: RED DURALTA FORTRESS 82H

Fortress is a great calving ease option that we used very heavy the first year that we got his semen and used one of the last straws on 220. We are excited about the future of all our Fortress progeny and we could have a whole pen of his heifers the way that they are milking. 220 follows in the footsteps of his sire, being a great calving ease option. Adding the Dana cow family on the bottom side of this pedigree will make him even more exciting, creating a bull that will have some longevity bred into him.

Sire

RED GOAD ADRENALINE 237'24

SIRE: RED LWNBRG ADRENALINE 28J

An Adrenaline son that we are very high on and showcased at the Medicine Hat Pen Show. Unfortunately, he’s got a droopy ear here in the last month so we did not picture him. We do not suspect this injury to impact his breeding ability and he is fully guaranteed. Maternal brothers are working at Little de Angus, P1 Land & Cattle, and Kochan’s along with maternal sisters at Lust Farms and one retained in herd. His sire was a high selling bull from Leeuwenburgh’s that we were happy to obtain a semen package on and are excited about the Adrenaline progeny

RED GOAD SOLDIER 244'24

SIRE: RED SSS SOLDIER 365W

Soldier 244 has been a personal favourite from an early age This gentle giant is dark red, round muscled, bold spring of rib, and early maturing. Stemming from our Reba cow family, the same cow family that is responsible for producing the sire of Red DMM Rumble 74J that won numerous banners over the last few years. I hope whoever picks out 244 is looking to produce a whole pen of deep sided, soggy made, big ribbed females as I would like to come tour through this group of replacement females in production.

RED GOAD DESIGNER 253'24

SIRE: RED HOWE DESIGNER 63X

Designer 253 impresses me every time I go into the pen with his big rib, wide top and dark red colour. I didn’t know much about Designer when I purchased semen at Red Round Up but had been looking for semen on his sire for a long time Later I was told that the bull produces exceptional females that produce top calves every year 253 will follow in his sires foot steps and produce deep, soggy made females that will have exceptional udders, putting him on my short list to keep for ourselves and walk as a clean up bull on our purebred cows.

RED GOAD RUMBLE 255'24

SIRE: RED DMM RUMBLE 74J DAM: RED GOAD DANA 28'17

After Rumble 74J had such a huge show career, we wanted to sample him as we were proud to have bred this caliber of a bull. Our only problem we had to be selective what cows we bred him to as he’s closely related to a lot of our cows. 255 is a larger frame bull in the pen, and one that I feel confident that could be used safely on heifers.

RED GOAD STATEMENT 259'24

SIRE: RED GOAD STATEMENT 104'20

A Statement son that is muscled up just like his sire was from an early age. The 259 cow has quietly been bringing in some of our top calves every year. There is a daughter working at Iron Sight Ranching that is producing banner winning females for the George’s

RED GOAD KUJO 262'24

RED REDRICH KUJO

The first crop of Kujo calves has us very excited about the impact that he is going to have on our herd We have been told that 262 is as close to the same shape and dimension as his sire was at the same age. I feel that you could choose any of our Kujo sons and they are all stamped the same. 262 is a great choice if you ’ re looking for a bull to produce steer calves that are going to push down the scale at weaning, and females that are feminine but have the capacity to produce the same type of high-performance calves.

RED GOAD OUTSIDER 272'24

SIRE: RED GOAD OUTSIDER 172'21 DAM: RED FCF MISS BARNDANCE 2087E

272 is out of our home raised herd sire Outsider that was kept to have the influence of his elite donor dam in our cow herd. We now have Outsider daughters in production and I could have a whole herd of his females kicking around. The dam of 272 is on a roll in production the last couple of years, producing one of our top bulls in the pen with last years going to Kochan’s. 272 is a younger bull in the pen but one that is going to turn into something special as he develops. I feel this bull could be used on larger framed heifers or second calvers.

RED GOAD KUJO 283'24

SIRE: RED REDRICH KUJO 270K DAM: RED GOAD MARIA 113'18

Another Kujo son that is stamped exactly like the others in the pen Big time performance, wide top and hipped, deep bodied and carrying muscle deep into his rear quarters. 283’s dam is a cow that has been one of our consistent top producing cows for a number of years now.

RED GOAD CONVOY 307'24

We acquired some semen on Convoy from Arntzen Angus after he was a sale feature in the U2Q Bull sale These bulls are calving ease with good growth all throughout the year. Turn a Convoy son into your heifer pen and sleep with ease at night and watch your steer calves push down the scale come fall time.

RED GOAD ADRENALINE 311'24

SIRE: RED LWNBRG ADRENALINE 28J

RED GOAD REBA 184'19

This Adrenaline son is pure raw power and has been a stand out from an early age for his natural thickness and muscle pattern. He has a little more BW than we normally keep in our bull pen. If they are going to be a heavier BW they have to be from a really good cow and perform at the top of the group all summer long leading up to weaning. 311 earned his keep and will blow you away with this performance and bold rib shape.

Reference Sire Red DMM RUMBLE 74J

RED GOAD RUMBLE 319'24

Another Rumble son that is going to look great out with a group of heifers this summer Rumble sons have been a great calving ease options for a lot of operations that have sampled him. 319 is backed by a great cow family and his maternal sister sold through Red Round Up this year to Dersta Farms.

RED GOAD SOLDIER 323'24

SIRE: RED SSS SOLDIER 365W DAM: RED DMM LEAH 90G

A tried-and-true sire that worked extremely well back in his day for a lot of operations I knew when I found this semen that the 323 cow was one that I was going to try him on. We acquired his dam from Miller Wilson Angus as a heifer calf when they were looking to down size their red numbers and she has fit in exceptionally well at our place. A calving ease prospect that is going to leave a whole set of replacement heifers that are going to make all your neighbors drool.

RED GOAD BOOTJACK 338'24

RED BJR C-CHIEF 811

Chief “also know as Bootjack” is an old red angus bull that helped define the red angus breed to what it is today. Being a calving ease specialist and making maternal females that work so well. 338 is going to follow in these lines that helped establish the red angus breed all those years ago.

RED GOAD DRAGSTER 350'24

The first set of Dragster sons exhibit the exact reason that we kept him as a clean-up bull. They are a calving ease option with performance Bold rib shape, deep bodied, carry muscle deep in to their rear quarters and backed by a very strong cow family SIRE: RED GOAD DRAGSTER 225'22

Dana Cow Family

RED GOAD RUMBLE 325'24

325 is the manly man of the group, he’s raw power through and through. He’s been one of our top picks for a Rumble son right from an early age. When we sampled Rumble, we wanted to use him on females that didn’t go back to our Reba cow ’ s and 325 was one of the top picks to use him on. It worked out exactly how we planned on this mating, we love his muscle mass throughout his whole body, masculinity, depth of body, quietness and head shape. We feel that this could be one of Rumbles top sons and there has been a lot of them throughout the country His dam was purchased from Double C Angus, in the first package of females that we acquired from them She has simply worked every year and has worked with every mating that we have thrown at her We are excited about her Barndance heifer calf that is on the ground this year

SIRE: RED DMM RUMBLE 74J DAM: RED DOUBLE C MARSLITE 718G

RED GOAD KUJO 336'24

336 gives you the stop and look at me look every time you walk into the pen He is one proud individual and knows that he is destined to be a big-time herd bull I honestly don’t know what has me more excited about 336, the fact he’s sired by Kujo or he’s from the Serena cow family Kujo was purchased from Redrich Farms after he was crowned Red Angus Show Bull Calf of the year, claimed numerous banners as a calf, and was declared Reserve Champion Bull at the Lloydminster Stockade. He has exceeded our expectations in his first calf crop. The bull calves have exploded from birth and are some our heaviest weaning and yearling weights. His females exhibit this same kind of power and we can’t wait to see them start to drop udders and get into production. If you looking for a big time herd bull have a look. We are excited to see where he ends up and the impact that he will have on his new herd.

SIRE: RED REDRICH KUJO 270K DAM: RED GOAD SERENA 156'20

Paternal Grandsire

RED GOAD DESIGNER 362'24

362 should have a picture in the catalogue but we had thought he was sold before picture day, and long story short, he is still available This Designer son is one that I like a lot with his length of body and wide top I am excited to see what these sons will do long term and the females that they will raise Don’t overlook this bull because he doesn’t have a picture

RED GOAD KUJO 373'24

This Kujo son might not be the most powerful of his paternal brothers but he could be the most complete one. He’s long bodied, carries muscle deep into his quarters, dark red colour, and offers more of a calving ease option. He is backed by a young cow that is going to be one that we build on in years to come.

SIRE: RED HOWE DESIGNER 63X DAM: RED GOAD DANA 245'21
SIRE: RED REDRICH KUJO 270K DAM: RED GOAD MARIA 283'21

RED GOAD OUTCOME 390'24

Outcome was a bull that we sampled on our heifers by AI, and he has more than impressed us with the few calves that we have out of him. They calved extremely easy on heifers, and took off growing all year long and have turned into masculine shaped bulls that amaze you with mass that they exhibit from such a calving ease option. SIRE: RED DAHLKE

RED GOAD COUNT 398'24

Count 398 is out of a first calver and is exactly the type of calf we want our young females to produce We look for them to produce a marketable calf, calve easy, maintain condition, breed back and bring in a calf in the fall that can make the replacement pen. Backed by a cow family that we acquired from Fontaine’s and are quickly building around. SIRE: RED GOAD THE COUNT 328'22

RED GOAD COUNT 406'24

We kept the Count bull to use in our heifer pen as we knew he would be a great calving ease option to not have to worry about a single calf being born from him. He exceeded our expectations of him on his first calf crop with his calving ease. 406 will follow in these footsteps and is backed by a big bodied Statement daughter that is going to raise some exciting calves the next few years SIRE: RED GOAD THE COUNT 328'22

RED GOAD OUTCOME 399'24

Elite calving ease sire out of a fresh pedigree that exhibits outcross genetics and performance sires When we sampled Outcome, we knew his sire as we kind of had a hand in producing the Finished Product bull We saw both his sire and dam at Diamond C in Texas, and said to John that he should breed these two and hope for a red calf. Low and behold Finished Product was produced. Just for knowing these individuals we wanted to sample Outcome. We knew that we would get extreme calving ease but he has more that exceeded our expectations with the growth and muscle mass to his sons. We are going to use more Outcome this year as we have been simply impressed with him on just the few calves that we have.
