A Week Full of Fun

More than 50 years may have passed, but I still remember the wealth of music Ringo Starr and Sir Rod Stewart provided the world during the 1970s. I was a huge fan of both Faces and The Beatles, but the solo careers of Stewart and Starr also had a huge impact on my music sensibilities, and I keep them in heavy rotation to this day. My Pandora radio stations feature heavy doses of classics like Starr’s “Photograph,” “It Don’t Come Easy” and “No No Song” and Stewart’s “Maggie May,” “You Wear It Well” and “The First Cut Is the Deepest.” Their stuff just never gets old.

Clearly I’m not the only one who can’t get enough of these two titans. Both of them are performing in Las Vegas this week, and both of them are expected to pack the house. In Stewart’s case, it could be the final time, as he’s titled his Caesars Palace performance The Encore Shows. In other words, if you’ve never seen the man perform live, you might want to get those tickets now (“Last Call?” p. 38). And Starr returns to The Venetian Resort with his All Starr Band to deliver not only his own songs, but hits from individual band members as well (“The Beat Goes On,” p. 36 ).

The live music fun doesn’t stop there; Mötley Crüe, a band that helped define the sound of the 80’s, brings a series of concerts to Dolby Live at Park MGM (“Find Your Wild Side,” p. 32)

A Breakfast to Remember

Celebrity chef’s Las Vegas Strip restaurant gave this writer one of his favorite dining memories

I’ve enjoyed plenty of breakfasts up and down the Las Vegas Strip, but one in particular really stands out in my memory: Brasserie B Parisian Steakhouse at Caesars Palace. This newest venture by celebrity chef Bobby Flay probably won’t be his last in Vegas, but even if it was, he would have reason to be incredibly proud.

The first thing you’ll notice about this stand-out restaurant is its exterior, with a sign that playfully bends toward you, beckoning you inside. Designed by Olivia Jane Design, the restaurant transports guests from the heart of the Las Vegas Strip to a timeless brasserie in Paris.

The space features an L-shaped, 20seat bar with weathered marble, fluted wood and zinc accents. The lounge flows into the main dining space, which includes a showstopping raw bar with a lit canopy that spills over the tables below. The intimate, 175-seat dining room features blown glass chandeliers, cane-backed cafe chairs and handmade subway tile.

Enjoying the décor while sipping a coffee is part of the fun here, but oh the food! Flay’s restaurant serves all meals throughout the day, including brunch on

Saturday and Sunday, but I’m here to talk about that breakfast in this particular space! I shared almost everything with my vegetarian compatriot, and while there were a few things she could not have, she enjoyed it as much as I— maybe more so.

We started with the assorted pastries, each one a unique and flavorful morsel and worth the price of admission alone. (No joke!) From there, we swooned over the omelet, accented by wild mushrooms and goat’s cheese, after which we tore into the French toast with seasonal berries and whipped crème fraîche.

And yes, I know it was breakfast, but I had to order the Bar Americain Burger, piled high with Gruyère, American cheese and bacon. And guess what? Even with everything else on the table beckoning me to return for seconds, I housed this burger—as the French would say—tout de suite!

If you’re a fan of breakfast—and c’mon, who isn’t?—you’ve gotta put this dining destination on your must-visit list. –Ken Miller

Timeless Talent

This legendary musician breathes new life into his catalog when he resumes his Strip residency this week

In the hands of Carlos Santana , a guitar becomes a conduit to the divine. For 13 years, the virtuoso has transformed the House of Blues into something approaching a temple, where his An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live residency has turned from mere entertainment into something approaching a musical pilgrimage.

The September and November dates follow a triumphant May run, giving fans more opportunities to witness Santana in his element. What makes this residency endure isn’t just the hits, though Santana has an arsenal of them. From “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Como Va” to “Maria Maria” and “Smooth,” each track arrives timeless and electric. Santana doesn’t perform these songs; he channels them, letting each solo spiral into uncharted musical territory.

His return to the Vegas stage feels perfect. March brought Sentient, his latest album—a career-spanning retrospective featuring previously unreleased collaborations with Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Smokey Robinson and his wife, drummer Cindy Blackman Santana. “I’m always driven by passion, emotion and inner instinct,” Santana states

on his official website. “When I first heard these tracks floating around in the house, I said, ‘Why don’t we put these all in one place?’”

In the House of Blues’ intimate confines, fans witness a master craftsman locked into grooves that feel both ancient and futuristic. When Santana establishes the night’s tone with “Jingo,” “Evil Ways,” and “Black Magic Woman/ Gypsy Queen,” he’s creating sacred space. The 1,800-capacity venue becomes a temple where boundaries dissolve between performer and audience, between past and present.

Unlike legacy acts content to coast on past glories, Santana refuses farewell tour mythology. “I don’t think like that,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I’ve seen people who retire every year. Every tour for the last 20 years has been their last tour. When I’m done, I’m not even going to tell anybody. I’ll just do the last concert.”

For now, that concert is in the faroff future. What’s here is the chance to witness an artist who can make a roomful of strangers feel like they’re communing with the divine power of music. –Genevie Durano

Can You Stay On Your Feet?

Attraction’s newest challenge is a mix of adrenaline and laughs

One of the Strip’s most entertaining attractions just got a whole lot more fun. Play Playground, a facility that contains life-sized versions of the games you used to love when you were a kid, now features a last-person-standing challenge that’s sure to have customers lining up for their turn.

It’s called Duck Duck Boom!, and it’s going to get your adrenaline going in a way few experiences can: Two rotating boom arms sweep across a 30-foot-by-

30-foot inflatable arena, and participants have one mission—stay on their feet as long as possible. Whether you’re playing or simply spectating, be prepared for breathless action and whole lot of laughs.

“With Duck Duck Boom!, we’re expanding our footprint to meet that demand for purely analog experiences with a high-energy, laugh-out-loud challenge that’s as fun to play as it is to watch,” said Jennifer Worthington, CEO and co-founder of Play Social Inc. “Whether

guests are jumping over spinning arms or wiping out in front of their friends, it’s the kind of experience that gets people off their phones and coming back for more.”

You’ll truly feel like a kid again at this 15,000-square-foot nostalgia headquarters. And with two bars, VIP mezzanines and private event spaces, you can continue the romp down memory lane well into the night. –Ken Miller

Beauty From Above

This attraction combines a virtual helicopter ride with a sightseeing tour unlike any you’ve experienced before

If you’ve always wanted to take a helicopter flight but haven’t quite achieved that goal, we think FlyOver Las Vegas might be tailor-made for you.

This combination of an amusement ride, a movie and a simulated helicopter flight makes for an experience that may leave you breathless. In Las Vegas, you have your choice of four shows: Wonders of the American West; Believe Chicago; Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies; and Legendary Iceland: Landscapes and Lore, each with special features. Each show begins in a room where you get your seat number and watch a short intro video. A recent showing of Legendary Iceland: Landscapes and Lore begins with a scene of a small, seemingly deserted cabin. Snowfall through a hole in the roof imparts calm and readiness for your adventure. Soon, you’ll head to a second chamber where a unique set of scenes play out. With Legendary Iceland, oceans, ice, lava and an elder troll (trolls are part of Icelandic folklore) tell the story of how Iceland emerged. It’s a captivating story that really gets you ready for the next step of the attraction.

After you head into the movie theater/ride portion, you’ll sit, belt in and get basic safety instructions. The screen stretches in a massive arc, and you’ll rise gently into the air before the lights dim. Then be amazed as ice floes and lava fields fill the screen and hikers, bikers, horses, fishermen and farmers trek through your field of vision. Swoop over immense fields of purple lupine and wend your way through canyons and ravines and past cascading waterfalls.

Glide over the ocean, examining rock formations and craggy islands. (Perhaps a troll caught by the dawning day?) The impressive sight of Hallgrímskirkja, the Lutheran church that is the second tallest-building in the capital of Reykjavik, is joined by fireworks. All along the way, you’ll feel the mists kissing your skin.

FlyOver Las Vegas is located center Strip in the Showcase Mall. Get your tickets inside the expansive lobby (or online), then grab a drink or snack while you wait for the magic to begin! –Nina King

Soul of the City

New festival brings functional art to Las Vegas

When the long beloved Life Is Beautiful festival ceased to exist, it left a hole in many Las Vegans’ hearts. It was a weekend of revelry that filled our lively downtown district with talented musicians, unique vendors and plenty of pop-up entertainment, and since it’s been gone, the last weekend of September isn’t quite the same. This year, all of that changes. Paradice launches its inaugural fest Sept. 27, and brings a full day of rich soul and R&B music to Vegas. The lineup includes Thee Sacred Souls,

known for interrogatively named tunes like “Can I Call You Rose?” and “Will I See You Again?” and R&B singer Ravyn Lenae, whose airy coos convey stories of love and light. Also on the list are all-caps crews LA LOM, JMSN and BALTHVS and local band Johnny Ruiz & The Escapers. Paradice isn’t just another fest; it celebrates local art and culture. And to support that mission, the festival organizers have created Paradice Pianos, an initiative that refurbishes a piano to working condition, has

a local artist paint the instrument and then eventually donates it to the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. The first was donated by the Winchester Dondero Cultural Center, painted by Las Vegas-based Daniel Esparza and is currently available to play at Main Arts District Gallery until the festival. –Em Jurbala

From Italy, With Love

Three top mixologists celebrate the Negroni

Let’s go all the way back to the early 1900s in Florence, Italy. A man named Count Camillo Negroni visits his favorite bartender, Alfonso Scarselli, and tells his friend he wants a stronger drink than his typical order, the Americano (Campari, sweet vermouth and seltzer). Maybe the Count had a rough week? So Scarselli swapped out the seltzer for gin and, lo and behold, the Negroni was born. Today, it’s rare to come upon a bar menu that does not have the classic cocktail listed; and it’s become so popular it received its own week of celebration—National Negroni Week from Sept. 22-28.

In recognition of the holiday, we checked in with three of Las Vegas’ top mixologists as they share their knowledge on the cocktail and offer up a version of the classic.

Over at Velvet Bar at Westgate Las Vegas, beverage development manager Yelena Anter explains what drinkers will experience when trying the classic Negroni. “Imagine stepping into a citrus grove at dusk while someone spritzes an herb garden nearby, all wrapped up in a velvet cloak of bitterness,” she says. “You’ll taste bright citrus, deep botanicals, herbal sweetness and that

Campari bite—the kind of bitterness that makes you feel a little sophisticated, even if you’re drinking in flip-flops.”

But Anter does one better—for National Negroni Week, she uses her extraordinary skill set to create a twist on the classic, available throughout the week.

“At Velvet, Negroni Week isn’t about rules—it’s about rewriting them,” she says. “This year, I’m marrying two of my absolute favorites: the Negroni and the boulevardier. The result is a decadent autumn romance in a glass. Imagine Fords Gin dancing with An-

Velvet Bar

gel’s Envy Rye, kissed by Plymouth sloe gin, Campari and rich Vermouth di Torino. Add a whisper of Avuá Falernum and a mischievous splash of pickled fig brine ... Suddenly, you’re in a candlelit orchard at dusk. We finish with a spritz of orange zest, a sprig of rosemary, and a Black Mission fig—because drama deserves a garnish. And since joy doubles when it’s shared, this cocktail arrives not as one, but as two—presented in a crystal decanter tower for guests to pour and savor together.”

Francesco Lafranconi, vice president of beverage and hospitality culture for Carver Road Hospitality at Carversteak at Resorts World Las Vegas presents a newer version of the classic Negroni—the Negroni bianco (made popular over the past decade). Enjoy a mix of Fords Gin, Italicus Bergamot liqueur, Luxardo Bitter Bianco and Verjus Blanc. “The Negroni bianco typically substitutes the traditional Campari with a white apéritif, such as Luxardo Bitter Bianco or Suze, a gentian root-based liqueur,” he says. “This alteration not only changes the color, giving it a pale gold hue, inviting appearance, but also results in a more delicate flavor, often with floral and citrus-herbal notes.”

More Negroni Love

Head to Rosina Cocktail Lounge at The Venetian Resort to enjoy the hot spot’s Negroni Week Celebration from Sept. 22-28. The specialty menu offers seven distinct variations of the classic cocktail, priced at $20 each. The menu offers recipes with slight twists to the classic recipe of gin, Campari and sweet vermouth, including the classic, boulevardier (Wild Turkey), black Negroni (Averna amaro), Rosita Negroni (Espolòn blanco), grapefruit Negroni (grapefruit juice), Gloria’s Negroni (Grand Marnier) and Cynar Negroni (Cynar). Each cocktail perfectly balances the Negroni’s calling card of bitter, sweet and botanical notes.

Lafranconi also loves the classic Negroni recipe for its simplicity while urging guests to try the modern version served at his bar. “Throughout the years, the Negroni has solidified its status as a classic, inspiring numerous variations such as bourbon, tequila and mezcal to name a few (in lieu of gin), while staying true to its core ingredients: gin, Campari and sweet vermouth, usually garnished with an orange slice and served over ice,” he says. “Ultimately, the Negroni serves as a symbol of Italian cocktail craftsmanship, embodying both sophistication and simplicity. … The Negroni bianco is a testament to the cocktail community’s creativity and adaptability. It offers a unique taste experience while preserving the legacy of the Negroni. If you’re ever at Carversteak or a similarly styled bar, ask for their version of the Negroni bianco and enjoy the modern twist on this classic cocktail.”

Lastly, head downtown to Vegas Vickie’s at Circa Resort & Casino, where mixologist Tim Weigel created his own special Negroni. “For the bartender, (the Negroni) is easy to make,

and for the guest, once they overcome the bitterness (it grows on ya!), they go further down the Negroni rabbit hole,” Weigel says.

Take that trip down the rabbit hole with his creation, Negroni of the Desert, a mix of Hendrick’s Orbium gin, yellow Chartreuse, Cocchi Americano, Luxardo Bitter Bianco, saline solution, muddled cucumber and thyme, and is garnished with sprig of thyme that is torched, “allowing the smoke to entice the drinker,” Weigel says. Take it even further with these other recipes that Weigel suggests. “The white Negroni is a tasty number and opens up the drinker to new and unique aromatic wines and bittered spirits,” he says. “Also, the Negroni format lends itself well to other base spirits like the boulevardier (swap whiskey in place of the gin), the Kingston Negroni (swap a Jamaican rum in place of gin) and the sublime mezcal Negroni.”

So, go classic or try one of the tasty options offered up from these top three mixologists. Whatever route you choose, toast to the occasion and have a good time. –Kiko Miyasato

Mixologist is manifesting his destiny

Fifteen years ago, Las Vegan Christopher Littles was working his first bartending job at a local bar. “And I’d think, ‘One day I’m gonna be a bartender on that Strip,’” he says. “Every day I’d write down on a card, my goals, ‘One day I’ll be a bartender on the Las Vegas Strip.’ It’s insane because I manifested that; I really wanted that and now I’m here.”

And the “here” is The Cabinet of Curiosities at Horseshoe Las Vegas, where Littles has been a mixologist for

three years. Before he joined the curious bar and lounge (and speakeasy; ask about The Lock), he worked his skills at properties like Caesars Palace, Park MGM and Golden Nugget, but it’s at the Cabinet where “I sharpened my skills and gained a lot of knowledge,” Littles says. “I feel so comfortable here.”

You’ll never know what to expect when Mötley Crüe returns to the Strip

If we told you Mötley Crüe recently released a track featuring Dolly Parton, would you believe us? It seems unlikely, but the glam metal rockers totally teamed up with the country music gem to release a version of “Home Sweet Home,” in which Parton lends her vocals to the sentimental power ballad.

While it seems like an odd collaboration, it really works! Parton’s bright soprano tone perfectly cuts

through Mick Mars’ electric riffs and complements Vince Neil’s raspy vocals. Even better, a portion of the proceeds from the revamped 1985 hit will benefit Covenant House, an organization that battles youth homelessness. The Covenant House is clearly near and dear to the band’s heart; it also recently held an auction of stage-played instruments in an effort to raise $250,000 for the organization.

You won’t see Mars take the stage with the band in Vegas (he was replaced by John 5 in 2023 after a bit of controversy), but you probably will hear “Home Sweet Home” along with many other favorites from the band’s catalog. After all, fans might riot if the band took the stage and skipped “Kickstart My Heart” and “Girls, Girls, Girls.”

Naturally, the music industry’s most infamous bad boys come with plenty of exciting onstage antics, so concertgoers can certainly expect to see a show like no other. Perhaps Nikki Sixx will pull out his iconic flame thrower bass, or Tommy Lee

will once again speed around on his 360-degree drum roller coaster. Maybe the band has concocted a totally new set of surprises for this limited-run residency. Only time will tell, but with a stage as beautiful and adaptable as the one Dolby Live provides, the options are limitless.

It’s certainly safe to say that this will be an explosive, high-energy spectacle. How could it not be, coming from the group that put out hits like “Wild Side,” “Live Wire,” and “Looks That Kill?” Not to mention, the Crüe’s fans tend to be a rowdy bunch in the best way possible. Anyone familiar with the band’s live

performances through the ’80s can recall riotous moments where fans couldn’t be quelled by security and occasionally found their way onto the stage. We wouldn’t recommend trying that here; Vegas has some strict rules, but the energy in the room will be palpable.

Dolby Live at Park MGM is the perfect venue to make a total night out of seeing a show. Stop into Eataly Las Vegas to taste around various vendors serving pizza, pastas, salads and more, then sip a preshow drink at Juniper Cocktail Lounge. After the show, head to On The Record to dance the night away.

Hidden behind a record store facade, this club has Industry Wednesday popping off after the Sept. 24 show, Shadow Red and Jkrazy playing Sept. 26 and CLA and Shalvoy on Sept. 27.

Pro tip: If you hang out outside of Dolby Live for just a moment, a club promoter will likely hand you free entrance to OTR.

It’s always a good time to visit the Neon Museum and explore Las Vegas’ fascinating history through its signage, but this week there’s an exceptionally good reason to visit—they’re lighting a newly restored sign. This Friday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m., the historical hot spot will relight the Dunes Hotel & Casino sign, a piece of artwork that represents the first major Strip property to leave us by implosion. Talk about a trendsetter!

This restoration was no easy feat. In fact, our friends at the Neon Museum said it looked like the sign itself had come straight from the wreckage when they acquired it. That’s where Jesse Hartlauer and his company, Hartlauer Signs, come in. They make all kinds of

displays, from the road signs you see to the directional signage that helps visitors navigate casino floors, but by far the most intriguing area of the workshop (and one Hartlauer clearly feels passionately about) is the neon workshop.

“The new styles are really modern and really basic and standard colors, where the old signs were fun,” Hartlauer says. “They were colorful with neon all over them. They flashed, they just came alive when you looked at them. I prefer the old ones, myself, a little bit. The craftsmanship and everything along with it is a part of our history.”

The sign that’s being relit is a 10-foot entrance sign from the property. It mirrors the shape and style of The Dunes’

grand, 150-foot neon sign, but actually doesn’t feature any neon. It’s lit by three internal lighting units to create a backlighting effect and about 100 candelabra lights that flash to create the classic sparkling effect many marquees have.

“When we take these signs down, usually we’re not thinking of Neon Museums and stuff like that,” Hartlauer says. “They hook a crane on it and sling it out of there. Throw it on a truck, lay it on its face, and take it to the back of the yard. It sits around for years until somebody realizes that it’s got a home and we can bring it back to life again.”

The metal structure is entirely original and had all of its bumps and bruises tapped out by Hartlauer’s crew before

being repainted. It would be logical to assume then comes the struggle of trying to fix the electrical components that made the sign shine, but in reality 95 percent of the original sockets were in working condition before restoration.

The real struggle came when trying to refurbish the rich orange bottom half of the sign, which needed to be replicated and installed.

Remarkably, this isn’t the first run-in Hartlauer has had with the Dunes signage. His company, which opened in Vegas more than 30 years ago, frequently repaired the massive main sign that greeted people as they came to town.

“When I moved to this town in 1979, off the I-15, there was an exit called Flamingo Dunes, and when you got off there, it didn’t go west. It only went east to the Strip. And that was one of the first things you’d see when you came into town and you got onto the Strip …

The Dunes was always intriguing, you know, kind of a fun hotel. It always had a lot of action going.”

Ringo Starr returns

to

Vegas with his All Starr Band

If only we could be as energetic as Ringo Starr at any age. At 85, the musician maintains the same philosophy that’s carried him through six decades in music. “It blows me away,” Starr told The New York Times this summer, reflecting on his birthday. “I look in the mirror and I’m 24. I never got older than 24.”

album also marked his Grand Ole Opry debut on Feb. 21, proving that age really is just a number and makes all of us wonder what we’re even doing with our lives.

8:30p.m.Sept.24and 26-27,startingat$69.95 plustaxandfee. ticketmaster.com

It’s a sentiment that perfectly captures why the former Beatle continues to tour, record and create with the enthusiasm of someone a quarter his age. This September, Starr brings his All Starr Band back to The Venetian Resort for the third year in a row. The current lineup—Steve Lukather (Toto), Colin Hay (Men at Work), Warren Ham (Toto), Hamish Stuart (Average White Band), Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth) and Buck Johnson (Aerosmith)—reads like a rock history textbook.

The All Starr Band, now in its 36th year, operates on the premise that “everybody on stage is a star in their own right.” Starr performs songs from his Beatles and solo catalog (expect “With a Little Help From My Friends”) while each All Starr member typically contributes two to three of their biggest hits. With each member carrying their own catalog of hits, it’s less like a concert and more like musical conversations among old friends. Starr’s recent creative surge defies any notion of slowing down. His country album Look Up, produced by T Bone Burnett, became his first solo No. 1 album in the U.K., unseating Taylor Swift on the country charts. Now there’s a feat that ranks right up there with being a part of the greatest band of all time. The

That same fearless creativity has defined both his career and his approach to life. Despite claiming to be a “failed retiree” in a March Atlantic profile, he can’t resist the pull of good music and good company. “I’ve had enough; I’ve done enough,” he told the magazine before admitting that when the phone rings with tour dates, he heeds the call of the road.

Beyond music, Starr continues expanding his artistic reach. Fans can catch his STARR ART exhibition at Animazing Art Gallery in the Grand Canal Shoppes through Oct. 15. His latest book, Beats & Threads, combines his passion for music and fashion, two interests that have followed him since his modeling days in the 1970s.

The artistic diversification speaks to something deeper about Starr’s enduring appeal. His “peace and love” philosophy, which he’s promoted globally since 2008 through his July 7 birthday campaigns, is even more meaningful in today’s fractured world.

“The beat goes on, and you’re here as long as you’re here,” Starr told the Associated Press earlier this year. “Life is great.”

And when you spend an evening with a legend who still believes in the transformative power of music and kindness, it is indeed.

Whether Sir Rod Stewart’s ‘Encore Shows’ are

his goodbye to Vegas remains to be seen

Is there such a thing as retirement for Rod Stewart? After celebrating his 200th performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in March, the raspy-voiced rocker, knight of Buckingham Palace and owner of the most famous shag haircut in rock history is returning for six additional dates for The Encore Shows. Each performance promises hits spanning six decades, deep cuts for the die-hards and no shortage of Vegas glitz.

The musician, who once declared, “I shall never retire! I was put on this Earth to be a singer and will keep doing so for as long as the good Lord lets me,” has survived every genre swing from folk rock to disco to crooning the Great American Songbook. He’s sold more than 250 million records worldwide and still struts across the stage in leopard-print jackets. Stewart need not ask, “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” because his fans clearly think so.

If retirement is imminent, even if far in the future, the possibility of a Vegas sendoff is poignant and fitting. His relationship with Sin City, going on 13 years now, has been pure romance. “I mean, I can’t imagine not going back there again,” he told ABC Audio. “Caesars are the best. I mean, they really looked after me. Best place to play.”

ticketmaster.com

When retirement rumors swirled in 2023 after a BBC interview, Stewart quickly set the record straight. “I could never turn my back on the songs that I’ve written and sung over the last six decades. They are like my children. I created them and I love them,” he clarified on Instagram.

Still, Stewart has been signaling major changes, noting on the social media platform last November: “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”

Whether this marks your first encounter with Sir Rod or your hundredth, his music has undoubtedly been the soundtrack to our lives. We’ve slow-danced to “Have I Told You Lately That I Loved You,” fist-pumped to “Hot Legs” and belted out “Maggie May” into hairbrush microphones. Few artists can claim a catalog lodged this deep into our collective memory. He’s also among the rare artists to score chart-toppers in every decade of his career, a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer (Faces, then solo), Grammy Living Legend and New York Times bestselling author. In 2016, Queen Elizabeth knighted him for his music and charity work.

So, could this be goodbye, or another farewell tour in the grand tradition of rockers who come back time and again and give fans what they want? Stewart’s own words remain elusive. After all, he signed his November Instagram announcement with “The Ambiguous Sir Rod Stewart.”

If you’ve ever wanted to see Stewart in full live glory, this Vegas run might be your best shot. And if it is his last, you’ll brag forever about witnessing the knight of rock ’n’ roll leave everything on that stage.

The palatial Imperial Sky Villa at Westgate Las Vegas celebrates icon Elvis Presley

This year would have been Elvis Presley’s 90th birthday, but since the King of Rock ’n’ Roll passed at just 42, the pelvis that belonged to Elvis is only a fond memory. But in his short tenure, he is still the biggest-selling solo artist of all time. And besides Graceland, no other place in the world is synonymous with Elvis more than Las Vegas. It was his 1969 concert series that helped open The International hotel (that is now the Westgate Las Vegas) and established Elvis’ reign over the city—with 636 consecutive sold-out shows over a span of seven years. In honor of his 90th birthday, the property recently launched its “Year of Elvis” celebration, and that includes the unveiling of the Imperial Sky Villa that has been decorated with Elvis images and storytelling plaques throughout. The four-bedroom, five-bathroom, 13,200 square-foot suite sits on the top floor of the hotel and was once called the “Elvis Presley Suite” because it’s where the superstar lived during his historic run of shows. Not only will guests get to explore the new design touches dedicated to Elvis, but they can walk in his footsteps.

Walking through the double doors to the suite, guests are first greeted with a beautiful, huge living space. Fun fact: The suite has since been reconfigured since Elvis slept there, but the living space is where his bedroom once was, so guests get to literally stand where he once slept. (What is now the giant fireplace was where his bed used to sit.) Another cool feature in the living space is a plaque of the original blueprints of the top floor of the hotel, including Elvis’ suite. You can see where the bedrooms were, the kitchen and dining room, terrace and where his bandmates slept. There was even a lounge on the top floor called the Skyroom, where Elvis and friends would spend time partying and performing. This space is also where you’ll spot the first photograph of Elvis—from July 28, 1969, a backstage shot of him prior to his first show at The International.

For a movie night, settle into the media room. For a dip, there’s a private pool with deck for sunbathing, lounging and eating. Each room has a gas-lit fireplace and hand-painted murals on the walls. Multiple floor-to-ceiling windows allow for unbeatable views of the city and beyond.

Spa-inspired bathrooms in the two master suites are huge and unbelievable in their design with marble-walled showers, double vanities, walk-in closets, step-down Jacuzzi tubs, his and her water closets, fireplaces and luxurious toiletries.

Check out the series of three photographs of Elvis at a press conference after his first performance at The International. It includes a transcript of questions from reporters, and his responses. Questions like, “How long do you rehearse for these shows?” “How do you choose the songs for the show?” “Why have you led such a secluded life all these years?” “Is it true you dye your hair?” and the question, “Elvis is there any other individual you’d rather be?” and his answer, “Are you kidding me???”

More Elvis photos and factoids to enjoy include: Elvis at his Aloha From Hawaii concert special where he performed at the Honolulu International Center Arena—the show was beamed live through satellite across the globe on Jan. 14, 1973; Elvis performing onstage at the International Hotel with fun facts about his run of shows; Elvis smiling during one of his press conferences after one of his shows at The International. When asked how he felt performing live again he responded, “This has been one of the most exciting nights of my life”; and a black-and-white photo of Elvis blowing fans a kiss.
