The Fun is Unending
Labor Day Weekend in Las Vegas is an amazing time. Yes, we still have some of that dreaded summer weather to cope with, but the party and entertainment options make you forget all about triple-digit temps. And Labor Day itself (Sept. 1) is cause for celebration as well, and we’ve collected some great ways to get the most out of that special day in this week’s issue (“See Ya, Summer! p. 34). And even after the holiday is over, the fun never stops on the Strip.
If you’re looking for some laughs (and who isn’t these days?), you’ve gotta get your tickets for Jerry Seinfeld, arguably the most accomplished stand-up comedian of this or any other generation, at Caesars Palace. And even as the superstar enters his 70s, he has a passion and drive that guarantee we’ll see him on the Strip for years to come (“Serenity Later,” p. 32).
How about some live music? We’ve got the one and only Bruno Mars, who’s resuming his residency at Park MGM, along with postshow visits to his Bellagio hot spot, The Pinky Ring by Bruno Mars (“He’s Here to Stay,” p. 12).
Speaking of great music, one of the Strip’s newest shows, Bob Marley Hope Road at Mandalay Bay, is a tribute to the legend’s legacy of love, peace and unity (“Time to Feel Alright,” p. 14).

He’s Here to Stay
The music superstar draws fans of all ages to his wildly successful Las Vegas Strip residency
To listen to a Bruno Mars composition is to experience a generational distillation of the music so many of us have grown up with over the decades. And to watch him perform live in concert is to experience an audience excitement perhaps matched only by Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley in their time. It’s a huge reason his concerts feature so many age ranges: Some acts simply eclipse categorization. It’s the energy they radiate, the inner rhythms they engender, the combination of freshness and familiarity. And no current act fills this niche more than Mars.
And in the case of Las Vegas specifically, Mars is also the closest connection we have to the days of the Rat Pack, made famous not only by the antics and music of Frank, Sammy and Dean, but the after-hours shenanigans they’d get into at clubs into the wee hours. Mars is acutely aware of this, as he put his name on a Bellagio hot spot, The Pinky Ring. It’s not just a possibility you’ll find him there having fun after one of his Dolby Live shows; it’s one of the few sure winning bets on the Strip.
When it comes to solo albums, Mars is hardly prolific—he’s had only three since splashing down with Doo-Wops & Hooligans in 2010. But it’s the in-the-margins work that keeps him a vibrant force in today’s entertainment industry. Whether it’s teaming up with Anderson .Paak to create Silk Sonic, duetting with Lady Gaga and Rosé, or being featured on Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” Mars has successfully remained top of mind for millions of his fans.
And he’s remained a force in Las Vegas since performing at MGM Grand in 2013. His ongoing residency at Park MGM remains one of the hottest tickets in a city filled with premier music superstars, a testament to Mars’ strong songwriting that’s produced classics like “Grenade,” “Just the Way You Are,” “Marry You,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” “That’s What I Like” and so many more.
It may take Mars awhile to release a new album, but it simply doesn’t matter. His music is here to stay—and so is he. –Ken Miller

Time to Feel Alright
This vibrant production celebrates a legendary music icon while creating an unforgettable experience
Most Las Vegas shows are designed to entertain, but few will truly move you and resonate long after you’ve left the lights of the Strip behind. Bob Marley Hope Road at Mandalay Bay is one of those transformative experiences that turns the theatergoing experience on its head (or on its feet, in this case). You’re not just watching a show; you’re stepping into a living celebration of a man whose music continues to unite the world across generations and cultures. From the moment that first beat drops, the space pulses with the soul of Jamaica, carrying the warmth, hope and infectious joy that defined Marley’s voice and revolutionary spirit.
Before the 75-minute show begins, guests can explore a gallery of photographs, memorabilia and quotes that offer an intimate portrait of Marley and the Wailers. There’s even a bar in the main dancehall where you can have a drink as you take in the preshow atmosphere.
When the show starts, guests move fluidly with the cast (all unbelievably talented) from one vividly designed room to the next, each space telling a different chapter of Marley’s extraordinary life. Gorgeous sets, vibrant costumes and seamless choreography create an en-
ergy that syncs with the beat of your heart. Whether you’re called up to a small stage to dance or simply sway where you stand, you become part of the story unfolding around you.
Bob Marley Hope Road is a kinetic experience that engages every sense. You don’t just hear the music, you feel it reverberating in your feet, your chest and in the smiles of the people around you. It’s the kind of performance where strangers leave as friends, connected by a shared rhythm and the universal message of love.
The journey flows through Marley’s timeless hits—songs like “One Love,” “No Woman, No Cry” and “Three Little Birds”—with a high-energy blend of live music, dance and powerful visuals. Between songs, intimate moments of storytelling weave the lyrics into Marley’s life and enduring vision of unity.
For lifelong fans, Bob Marley Hope Road is a heartfelt tribute that honors his legacy. For newcomers, it’s a joyful introduction to an artist whose songs still carry the power to inspire. Either way, you’ll leave with the spirit of “One Love” echoing long after the final note fades, and you’ll be feeling alright. –Genevie Durano Mandalay Bay. 877.632.7400

Join the Family
This beloved restaurant has more than 50 years of communal dining and making everyone feel special
You become part of one big family— and a big part of Vegas history—when you dine at Benihana at Westgate Las Vegas. The restaurant, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, encourages communal dining around hibachi tables that can accommodate anywhere from small families to huge reunions. And from the second you sit down to the time you depart, the experience is unlike any other, from the food and the way it’s prepared to the friends you make.
The centerpiece of the 38,000-square-foot Benihana Village (which, when you include Rikki Tiki Sushi and Silk Road Asian Bistro, make this one the largest in the world) is practically an entertainment venue, with skilled chefs whipping up your meal in front of you, serving up New York strip steak and mushrooms (by far the most popular item) to the Benihana Trio of filet mignon, chicken breast and colossal shrimp. The two weeks of intensive training shows in every chef here; they’re quick with jokes as they deftly grill and move items around, never missing a beat.
Before enjoying your chef’s performance, make sure to enjoy something from the specialty cocktail menu. The Baby Blue Ocean, a lovely combination of Malibu rum, New Amsterdam pineapple vodka,
sake, blue Curacao and tropical fruit juices, can be ordered as a “punch bowl” for two or more, or order something for yourself like the Rising Sun Lemon Drop, so delicious with Ketel One Citroen vodka, Cointreau, fresh lemon and PAMA pomegranate liqueur.
We also recommend sampling an appetizer, from a sushi sampler of tuna, salmon, snapper, yellowtail and shrimp nigiri to shrimp sauté served with homemade ginger sauce. If you really want to splurge, the specialties menu offers not only your choice of surf and/or turf, it also comes with flavorful onion soup, a tangy salad and fried rice. Seafood fans will want to order the Ocean Treasure, featuring lobster, scallops and shrimp.
Over its half-century of existence, this Benihana has been enjoyed by some of the biggest celebrities and sports figures in history, from Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga to Mike Tyson and Kobe Bryant. It’s also undergone many phases, from a 1992 remodel to the addition of a sushi bar in 2002. But the basic philosophy of the restaurant has never changed: Make every guest feel like family. –Ken Miller

Beauty and the Feast
Celebrity chef restaurant combines a luxurious experience with stunning views
If it’s a spectacular view you want, it’s hard to beat Lago by Julian Serrano at Bellagio. Whether you are seated outside on the patio or near the floor-to-ceiling windows, the vista of Bellagio’s lake is a view you’ll remember.
Lago offers both brunch and dinner, with a variety of Italian dishes to tempt your palate. From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, enjoy brunch with such items as beef carpaccio; the popular panzanella salad; a variety of pizzettas from black truffle to margherita and pepperoni;
apple pancakes; lobster Benedict; uovo fonduta (with a poached egg and truffle and fontina fonduta); and an everything bagel with smoked salmon, caviar and mascarpone.
Larger appetites may want to try lasagna; seafood linguine with shrimp, lobster and scallops; salmon piccata; or steak and eggs with a Barolo wine sauce. Bottomless mimosas are available for $75. And for an extra special sip, try the new Veuve Clicquot RICH. It’s pretty delicious, as I can attest.
Dinner is delightful, especially after dark with the magically lit fountain shows. Order a half-pound, butter-poached Alaskan king crab to start, or consider seafood risotto with scallops, shrimp and lobster. Fish choices include branzino, John Dory or salmon piccata. There are plenty of pastas and meats, like spaghetti and meatballs, gnocchi with pesto, grilled lamb chops and a grilled, 16-ounce prime ribeye. –Nina King

Chinese restaurant elevates your favorite dishes to the next level
Step into Genting Palace and discover a whole new world of Chinese cuisine. Beyond the elegant moon gate entrance, soft lighting and cherry blossom panels create an atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and welcoming, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable meal.

The Cantonese appetizer combination of barbecue pork, roasted duck and roast pork belly, accompanied by hoisin sauce and
plum sauce, elevates the dishes you know and love. For carnivores, the wok-fried A5 wagyu with black pepper sauce is a must, while plant-based lovers will love the vegan mapo tofu.
If you want to go on a well-orchestrated culinary journey, the fivecourse tasting menu showcases chef Billy Cheng’s impressive range. Meanwhile, good things come in small packages with the dim sum service, from aromatic black truffle dumplings to translucent har gow filled with sweet shrimp.

gance with world-renowned DJs signed to the musical roster. But down on the first two floors, the restaurant deserves equal recognition for its continuous mastering of innovative Cantonese cuisine and a beverage program that
churns out some of the most creative, sapid specialty cocktails in the city. Case in point: Hakkasan’s new summer cocktail menu filled with 10 new libations. Let’s get into it.
Turning heads in the restaurant for
its cuteness, the Pandan Express makes for a fun photo while the recipe is a tropical treat that will get you buzzing with some extra energy. The pandashaped glassware holds a mix of 1800 Cristalino añejo tequila, rum blend,
pandan, Calpico, orgeat and sugar-free Red Bull Pink Edition Wild Berries. The addition of pandan, a bananalike leaf used in many Southeastern Asian desserts, and the Japanese noncarbonated soft drink Calpico add a unique sweetness to this tikilike cocktail.
Hot, sweet and spicy just like the dudes that created the tequila brands used in the Scorched Melon cocktail, the mix of rock melon, tamarind, lime and habanero sets the taste buds ablaze with the addition of Mark Wahlberg’s Flecha Azul tequila and Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul’s Dos Hombres mezcal.
Egg whites still shine in the cocktail realm, and with the addition of lemon verbena, citrus and mint, the Lü Bu Sour is a divine, fresh and silky sip with spirits that include The Botanist gin, Rémy V cognac and Belle De Brillet, a pear liqueur. And sometimes a simplistic mix of ingredients makes for a delicious cocktail that is light and refreshing, like the Hakka 2.0. The blend of Código 1530 blanco tequila, lychee, coconut and pineapple results in a clear, very drinkable concoction,
but the addition of lychee and coconut leaves a velvety mouthfeel.
For those that like brown-spirit cocktails with a smooth, strong finish, go for the Cantonese Cowboy with SirDavis American whiskey and Hennessy VS. And with the espresso martini still stealing the spotlight, try Hakkasan’s twist on the classic, the Black Lotus, a mix of Aspen vodka, Kahlúa, nigori sake and espresso. –Kiko Miyasato

Working in hospitality was always the goal for Alvin Young, a goal he continues to achieve. “I fell in love with management—the idea of crafting teams, leading teams and

Back in the old days of Las Vegas, when you said “seafood,” most would probably think you meant the 99-cent shrimp cocktail that was sold in the millions and helped define the early days of Las Vegas “cuisine.” But oh, how times have changed. Las Vegas is now a city where any cuisine is possible—even fresh
seafood in the middle of the desert. And it goes even beyond just ordering something off a menu; you can pick out your specific fish, thanks to Amalfi by Bobby Flay, a true show kitchen and restaurant that celebrates that region of Italy and its traditions.
The restaurant is impeccably detailed,
with light woods and circular blue-tilelined containers full of ice and a variety of fresh fish (the types of fish will vary depending on the time of year). Fishmongers staff the displays and give you specifics on every single fish, allowing you to make an informed decision. It feels almost like picking out a new car as your salesman de-
scribes the bells and whistles—but without those pesky five years of payments. At a bar curving away from the entrance, you can enjoy your choice of delicious cocktails like the Nerano, made with Herradura blanco tequila, Cappelletti aperitivo and lemon; the Amalfi spritz, with Selim spumante, Cappel-
choice of Meyer lemon and capers, red pepper and Calabrian chili pesto, or salsa verde. There are so many combinations to choose from, you might find yourself coming back for more within the week.

menu, from appetizers like salmon carpaccio with pistachio breadcrumbs, and charred octopus served with burnt orange and pancetta, to main courses like squid ink fettucine with lobster, shrimp, squid and fra diavolo sauce. There’s also plenty of choices for meat eaters with a trio of prime certified Angus beef champs—a 10-ounce filet mignon, 16-ounce New York strip and 24-ounce bonein ribeye. They pair wonderfully with sides like cremini mushroom polenta (made with mascarpone, Parmigiano and white truffle oil) and crispy potatoes with Parmiagiano oregano and lemon.
And fear not, vegetarians— Amalfi has you covered with appetizers like burrata served with red pepper, Calabrian chili and hazelnut pesto, and main courses like orecchiette smothered with eggplant Bolognese, basil and ricotta, agnolotti highlighted by arugula-ricotta, Sun Gold tomato sauce and crunchy garlic, and pasta “rags” with all’arrabbiata, Calabrian chili and bufala mozzarella.

Jerry Seinfeld continues to relentlessly hone his already hilarious comedy
Jerry Seinfeld does not coast. Not on reputation, not on nostalgia, and certainly not on the gravitational pull of Seinfeld, the sitcom that was about nothing but was actually quite something: It was named the greatest television show of all time by TV Guide and made its star a billionaire. The comedian works constantly, methodically, obsessively, because for him, stand-up is not a job you master once and then sleep on. It’s an evolving skill that you constantly hone, no matter how old or how successful you are.
In an interview with The New Yorker magazine last year, Seinfeld spoke about working on his craft in Zen Buddhist terms: “Pursue mastery,” he said. “That will fulfill your life. You will feel good. I know a lot of rich people ... They don’t feel good, as you think they should and would. They’re miserable. Because, if they don’t master a skill, life is unfulfilling. So I work because if you don’t, in stand-up comedy, if you don’t do it a lot, you stink.”
It’s that philosophy that has kept him a headliner at The Colosseum since 2003, making him one of the longest-running headliners in the history of Las Vegas.
In September 2024, he performed his 100th show at the iconic resort. He is currently in the middle of a six-date run this year, with additional dates scheduled for Oct. 10–11. For Seinfeld, these shows are part of the ongoing grind
of a comic who never seems to find an end to life’s comedic absurdities.
Onstage, Seinfeld is a craftsman who knows perfection is theoretical. The Vegas audience may not see the hours of writing, rewriting, testing and discarding behind each seemingly casual observation. But his discipline is visible in the economy of his material—no fat, no filler, just setups and payoffs that arrive with precision. Offstage, his résumé reads like someone who has never taken his foot off the gas, even after Seinfeld’s incredible success: best-selling books (Is This Anything?, Seinlanguage), hosting the series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, producing and starring in Bee Movie, directing on Broadway and creating and starring in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story for Netflix.
But all of it radiates from the same principle: Stay in motion, keep refining. Seinfeld turned 71 this year, and yet he seems to be just scratching the surface of the funny side of life. Luckily for us, the comedian has said that he wants to do stand-up well into his 80s and beyond—to the very end, in fact.
“People ask me about slowing down, and I go, ‘The work part of my life is not stand-up. It’s all the other things,’” Seinfeld told the Associated Press in an interview last year. “Stand-up is an incredible, pure experience. Surfing is the great regret of my life, that I never really got good at it. I did it for two weeks one time, many years ago. But if you were a surfer, you would never stop doing it. That’s what stand-up is for me. Feeling that energy, that natural life-force energy under you and around you—I never get tired of that.”
In his Colosseum shows, you see a man relentlessly honing his skill in an unending pursuit of getting the joke exactly right. Watch a master at work, and laugh.

standout stores that deserve a little extra attention—whether you just browse or decide to buy, they’re worth the visit just for the experience.
Make your first stop at Animazing Gallery, where pop art and classic art collide in a cool retail space that has such interesting pieces it’s like walking through a museum filled with iconic cultural references. Animazing Gallery first found fame in Soho, New York, more than four decades ago. Over that time, owner Nick Leone has amassed a massive collection of art, including the paintings of John Douglas (pictured). Douglas, the drummer for Aerosmith, travels with a blank canvas and acrylic paint. When touring, he’ll use his hotel room as his studio, mixing the paints inside a drum head. He’ll then tack the canvas up, paint and, when finished, lets them drip dry in the bathroom shower.
Jump from one gallery to the next. One can spend serious hours browsing through Regis Galerie. This store is more gallery and showroom than retail, but everything is for sale. “These are not mass-produced pieces, everything is high quality,” says director Lorne “LG” Gostfrand. “What we really base our gallery on is high-quality pieces that you can only find here in Vegas. We display 1,000 different artists from around the world and we’ve been in this spot at Grand Canal Shoppes for 25 years. We’re definitely a destination spot.”
It’s such a destination that celebrities galore have paid a visit—just check out the wall with tons of pictures of famous faces that have made an appearance. Besides museum-quality pieces for the home with everything from bronze statues, furniture and pop art paintings to Disney-in-

Owner Meeta Jethani and her husband opened Miner’s Gems in Las Vegas after the pandemic shut down their storefronts on cruise ships. Since then, they’ve found great success with their shop at The Venetian Resort. The beautiful pieces and rare stones they carry are worth a look, even if you don’t decide to buy. “Our gold selection is our crowd puller,” Jethani says. “But we have a huge selection of diamond baguette jewelry and specialty stones and one-of-a-kind pieces. We have stuff from a reasonable $500 to like half a million.”
Some of Jethani’s favorite pieces (pictured) include a

–Pamela
Raia, salesman at Bauman Rare Books
It’s another shop where one could spend hours browsing the merchandiseƒ, especially lovers of the written word.
“Three things that determine the value of the rare book: the condition and completeness
(is it as close to original as possible?); the scarcity (How many still exist?); and lastly, the title has to be interesting to collectors,” says salesman Pamela Raia. “Bauman Rare Books is very much a bespoke
service. We always say, ‘You’re not only buying a book, you’re buying someone to assist you with your collection over the long term.’ We help with book care, how to build your library, the environment to keep books in, the storage.”
One of the most treasured books is Thomas McKenney’s and James Hall’s History of the Indian Tribes of North America, early edition, second octavo edition from 1854 ($25,000). The illustrations are of indigenous leaders who traveled to government offices to have their portraits painted. (This was prior to photography.) The original portraits burned in a fire, but luckily McKenney and Hall preserved the images by making illustrations of each of the paintings. “They made
the illustrations based off the original paintings and without them doing this, we would not have these images of very important Native American chiefs,” Raia says.
Other special book selections available through Bauman Rare Books include Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice from 1833 ($15,000). Familiar names in literature also include books by Charles Dickens (a first edition of The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club), a postcard and a letter from Walt Whitman and a presentation copy of May-Day and Other Pieces by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Donny Osmond’s latest state-ofthe-art addition to his show will blow you away
By Las Vegas Magazine Staff
Donny Osmond has some favorite segments during his headlining show on the Las Vegas Strip. There’s the “Donny Rap,” the “Request Segment,” and the climactic part of the performance when inflated, blinking Donny Balls are pitched into the audience for celebratory volleying. The latest addition incorporates artificial intelligence, images of him at age 14 and his grandson to make something magical happen: Osmond duetting with his youthful “Puppy Love”-era self.
“That’s becoming another anchor point to the show,” says Osmond. “People have heard about it. They’ve read about it. They see it on YouTube and in interviews I’ve done. Then when that curtain opens up and you see this three-dimensional character that’s me 53 years ago … I hear the ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ coming from the audience.”
Two years in the making, Avatar Donny is a high-tech combination of Osmond’s face as it looked more than a half-century ago and his grandson Daxton, dressed as his grandfather did in the early ’70s when he was frequently featured on covers of teen idol magazines such as Tiger Beat. He’s even wearing a cap that was a trademark back in the day. A fan sent it to him just for the video recording in New York, after which Osmond promptly returned it.
“When I’m looking into the eyes of myself, 53 years ago, can you i magine how strange that is? I’m looking in the mirror 53 years ago,” says Osmond.
So returning fans have something new to witness the next time they buy tickets for Donny. Due to the technology involved, Osmond
needs to be on point during the segment with split-second timing. Other parts of the show are much more casual and spontaneous by design.
“That segment in my show that I call ‘The Request Segment,’ it’s 20 minutes of unknown,” says Osmond. “I don’t know where it’s

gonna go, and like I’ve said in times past, it’s probably my favorite part of the show because it’s unknown. For some people, that would scare them half to death. That’s why I love those parts of my show, because the audience is entertained in real time, if that makes any sense. We’re making it up as we go, and that’s what’s fun for me and the audience.”
Osmond road tested the segment on tours years ago before his solo residency, which he was not able to do with Avatar Donny. “I first saw it in January, when we were recording in New York in a place called ZeroSpace,” says Osmond. “When I first saw a rough export of my face next to his face, it freaked me out … You can only imagine what that felt like.”
It freaked out fans too, some of whom attended a special Tiger Beat Magazine Preshow VIP Celebration in March, featuring a Q&A with editor Ann Moses. Osmond has come full circle since trying to ditch his old image and can now embrace every era of his career.
He especially appreciates the current phase, in which every performance is now enhanced by groundbreaking use of AI. “What’s really cool is that I was the first one to do this,” he says.
When it comes to off-Strip dining options, it’s really hard to beat
If you want to step away from the Las Vegas Strip for a spell to dine and drink like the locals do, we highly recommend Chinatown, a bustling district with more than 100 different eateries. Each block is packed with amazing options—so where do you begin? We’ve got you covered! Here, we highlight just a few of our favorite spots available to you. Something important to remember: There are no wrong choices!

The original Ichiza is one of Chinatown’s most beloved dining spots, but if you want an extra-special treat, head to this second location, which boasts 11 private dining rooms for you and your party, each decorated with lantern-style light fixtures and bamboo curtains, not to mention a button to summon your server. The options here are too hard to select from, so get a bit of everything, from salmon steak and beef shabu shabu salad to corn butter and pork katsu. Make sure to finish off your meal with Ichiza’s brown sugar pudding, so simple and yet so deeply satisfying.
lamb, pork belly and chicken), seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, handmade noodles and more. Best of all, the menu changes seasonally, making repeat visits practically mandatory. The signature cocktails are equally wonderful, from Harby’s Revenge, made with Ezra Brooks bourbon, black ice tea, white peach liqueur and lemon juice, to Nengmeng Drop, featuring lemon vodka, lemoncello, lemon juice and calpico.
pizzas will ensure you stay for a bite. Try the Salami Rossa, topped with garlic confit, white sauce, preserved lemons, yellow Dorati tomatoes, stracciatella, crushed pistachios, red pesto, lemon and chilli oil, for something exceptionally rich. Or, go familiar with a twist with the pepperoni pie featuring vodka sauce, fior di latte cheese, chili crunch, dry-aged pepperoni and basil.

Even though this is a food truck, you’ll almost always find it in the same place. It’s a true Chinatown institution, and for good reason: The food absolutely slays, and it’s very affordable to boot. If it’s your first time, you gotta order the green chili burrito, full of smoked chicken, pinto beans, bell peppers and cheese. It goes great with prickly pear Cutty juice. One more reason this place rules: When you arrive, the ultra-friendly staff snaps your photo and places it onto a huge collection of customer photos on the awning.

Fine French dining in Chinatown? Believe it! This establishment, with a menu courtesy of chef Yuri Szarzewski, specializes in five- to nine-course tasting menus, all featuring seasonal ingredients, along with a world-class wine-pairing option (so worth the money). You can also opt to add items like seared foie gras with seasonal garnish and caviar or truffles. There’s also a Chef’s Table option facing the kitchen to see your dishes prepared in real time.

headliner Rod Stewart, not to mention Walt Disney and John Waters (both of whom helped inspire the bar’s look). The cocktails here are legendary and often STRONG, especially Navy Grog, a mix of Dominican and Jamaican dark and overproof rums, lime and grapefruit juices and honey syrup. This is a 24-hour destination, but we strongly encourage you to make reservations.

For one of the best Japanese fine-dining experiences in town, this is a must-visit. Start your evening off with small bites like jalapeño yellowtail, chicken karaage (served with negi sauce) or takoyaki skewers. Then work your way to the menu’s various carpaccios, from thinly sliced halibut and uni, salmon and halibut, and yellowtail to beef tataki and seared garlic tuna sashimi. For a truly unique experience, order something from the yakitori menu, where everything is cooked using binchotan charcoal from Japan. Choices here range from chicken thigh and wagyu tongue to enoki mushroom bacon and pork belly.

Vegetarians, vegans and omnivores will all find something to enjoy at this establishment, courtesy of owner Tony Nguyen. The menu hits every palate, all in a comfortable setting full of bold burgundy accents and earth tones. It’s the perfect place to enjoy appetizers like watermelon wontons, angus tenderloin tartare and honey-glazed chicken lollipops, and main courses like wok-tossed five-spice octopus, crispy pesto gnocchi and vegan scallops, marinated in nori broth and served with a sweet potato purée.

One of the more unique restaurants in Chinatown, this Mexican hot spot not only features a delicious menu of street tacos (your choice of al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, hot honey-glazed chicken or barbacoa), it also contains a flower-and skull-adorned speakeasy, accessed through a long, winding corridor. Enjoy exclusive cocktails here like the Okie Dokie, Artichokie, which features Cynar artichoke amaro, mezcal, spiced demerara, pineapple, cherry and oak smoke.

You may think you’ve tasted ramen, but until you go here, where the style served is Kurume-style tonkotsu ramen, you really haven’t. This is absolutely the gold standard for this particular dish, and the options are oh so plentiful. We’d recommend starting with the classic version, featuring pork broth, thin noodles and nori (dried seaweed), topped with two slices of pork chashu, black mushrooms, bamboo shoots and green onions. We highly recommend adding nitamago, a flavored egg, to whatever you try; it adds a whole new
level of flavor to what is already a terrific dish.
3616 Spring Mountain Road. 702.268.8762
Sometimes simplicity is the key to success, and nowhere is that more evident than at this outpost of the San Diego-based franchise, where street tacos are the focus, and all are served on fresh, handmade tortillas. Whether you choose al pastor, pollo asado, carne asada or seafood, you simply can’t go wrong here. If burritos are a little more to your liking, the California is highly recommended, filled with flame-grilled Angus steak, French fries, guac, tomato and cheese. And vegetarians shouldn’t avoid this spot—you can get your tacos with nopal (cactus) or sautéed mushrooms.
