For Your Taste Buds Only
Strip steakhouse offers bar-exclusive burger—but only for those in the know
At Las Vegas Magazine, we’re always looking for inside info. After all, our main goal is to help enhance your Vegas experience, to give you experiences not all tourists may have access to. And with that in mind, may we suggest you do just that by bellying up to the main bar at Carversteak at Resorts World Las Vegas? Because that’s where you’re going to find one of the best “hush hush” food items on the entire Strip.
The Carver-Steak & Egg Burger, which is, indeed, available only at the main bar (because it’s made in small numbers each night), is the brainchild of Daniel Ontiveros, corporate executive chef of Carversteak’s parent company, Carver Road Hospitality. It was originally created not for guests, but for Ontiveros himself, a “reward” at the end of a hard shift. But as with all great things, he couldn’t keep it a secret—word soon got out to the staff, and pretty soon he began making them on a regular basis.
Now you get to taste this opus for yourself. It starts with a light and fluffy sesame brioche bun, on which is smeared a light dab of horseradish cream. Then it’s piled high with a quarter-pound Mishima Reserve smash burger, an unbelievably tender 4-ounce American wagyu rib cap, a sunny-side up egg, Gruyère, crispy shallots and chimichurri. It’s served with perfectly prepared french fries and a variety of dipping sauces like chipotle aioli. (Do what I did: Get some ranch. It’s made in-house and seriously rocks.)
I want to stress this: You will not find this burger on the restaurant’s main menu; you need to ask for it. And after you’ve experienced this exclusive item for yourself, you’re going to have a choice to make: Shout it from the rooftops of social media, which could increase its popularity and jeopardize your chances of ever getting it again; or just keep quiet about it. Because trust me—once you’ve had this, your priority will be making sure it’s always available every time you grab that barstool. –Ken Miller

A Legacy Defined
One-of-a-kind experience celebrates the life, music and culture of one of music’s biggest stars
Bob Marley Hope Road is a powerful, immersive experience that uses electrifying music and live performances to celebrate a man that used his music to not only entertain but to make a positive social impact on the world. Now is the perfect time to experience the peace and love Marley embodied and his hope that, through music, he could change the world for the better.
“To actually see Hope Road come to life, vision to reality … I just feel excited for everyone to experience it,” said Cedella Marley, Bob Marley’s daughter and executive producer of BMHR. “I’m not sure if Daddy ever performed in Vegas but Vegas is the mecca and everyone wants to perform here, and unfortunately he could not be here, but when you come to Hope Road you’ll feel his spirit. … You’ll say, ‘I felt Bob.’ It’s the best we could do to bring you his spirit and experience him.”
Bob Marley Hope Road is a ticketed 75-minute show, coming to life through a cast of dozens of singers, actors and dancers, many direct from Jamaica. The nonseated show begins inside Dance Hall, where
you’ll learn about Jamaican culture and language. The group then moves through the rooms to watch amazing performances, including aerialists that fly and twist around the huge tree structure inside Jammin’ Tree to hit songs like “Turn Your Lights Down Low” and “Is This Love.”
Inside the streets of Trenchtown, you’ll catch the DJ playing inside a 1973 VW bus that was restored to match the original tour bus of Marley and The Wailers. Inside Cathedral, you’ll witness a moving performance by dancers that seem to shake the room with powerful vibrations set to “No Woman, No Cry” and “Exodus.”
Inside the last room, guests are given 3D glasses to experience high-tech magic that brings Bob Marley to life as he takes the stage and performs his music, with the mind-blowing visuals seeming to encompass the room.
Bob Marley is reggae music’s biggest star. And now Las Vegas celebrates the superstar, his music and his life. –Kiko Miyasato

This rooftop lounge not only sports the most incredible views of the Las Vegas valley, but the indoor-outdoor lounge offers a top-notch cocktail program, plush seating, groovy live music and DJs and themed parties throughout the year, so there’s always a reason to go back.

will enjoy a table on the expansive patio while sipping on handcrafted cocktails. When the sun starts to set, you’ll get a glass of champagne in hand to toast the day turning into night. You can also book the fireplace seating option for six—a firepit surrounded by oversized club chairs, views of the city and a dedicated VIP server for the evening.
Some sights around the lounge to make note of are the 1,000 ounces of real gold in the form of 500 custom bars that are stored in a special see-through
sealed case and a room adorned with metal busts of some of Las Vegas’ most notable founding fathers of the city. Some extras include the nonalcoholic cocktails—the bar staff at Legacy Club loves to whip up delicious recipes for nondrinkers, and the cigar menu offers such brands as Montecristo, Ashton Monarch, Cohiba, Rocky Patel and Patron. –Kiko Miyasato

Reach New Heights
Gaze at the valley and beyond in a luxury helicopter ride
There are a lot of reasons to make frequent visits to Las Vegas: New shows, restaurants, bars, attractions … the list goes on. But there’s another aspect of the city that makes return visits exciting: The changing skyline. In just the last 10 years, Las Vegas has added a mind-boggling array of intriguing structures, and there’s no better way to view them than with a state-of-the-art helicopter flight courtesy of Maverick Helicopters Board one of Maverick’s ultra-comfortable conveyances and get ready to see Southern Nevada like never before. And even if you’ve taken a flight or two in the past, have you seen aerial views of the enormous Sphere? Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Vegas Raiders? The F1 Grand Prix Plaza? T-Mobile Arena, the home of the Stanley Cup-winning Vegas Golden Knights? Talk about an experience that keeps on giving!
But don’t stop there. While you listen to inspiring music on headphones, Maverick can whoosh you seemingly immediately to some of the most gorgeous sights in all the Southwest, from Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to the Bowl of Fire. And, of course, the Grand Canyon. If you’ve always wanted to see this natural wonder, consider one of Maverick Helicopters’ trips to Grand Canyon West. –Ken Miller
The One Where ...
Take a trip back to ’90s television with this interactive attraction
“Do you remember the one where ...” If you’ve heard those words before (the ones fans of a certain ’90s megahit show use to identify their favorite episodes), you’ll be thrilled to know The FRIENDS™ Experience has opened in Las Vegas.
This interactive exhibit is a bit of a cross between a museum and a television studio set. You’ve probably got the iconic opening sequence to the much-beloved sitcom etched in your brain—the fountain, the couch, the lamp, the dancing—and that’s the
first thing you’ll see as you enter. Plop down and re-create the scene as you take some sweet pics or selfies.
Other locales are often tied to specific episodes, like “The One in Vegas,” where the gang heads to a classic Sin City chapel. You’ll also find the hall outside Monica’s and Rachel’s apartment (where the infamous cheesecake scene took place). The women’s living room is there in all of its unbelievable expansiveness, with a spot-on replica of Monica’s kitchen and a sweet balcony outside. Hit up Joey and Chan-
dler’s apartment, where the chairs live in all their glory.
Along the way, you’ll see costumes, a timeline of dating scenarios, graphics and a wealth of details and trivia, like how many cups of coffee each member drank at Central Perk during the run. Speaking of Central Perk, that’s where you’ll end up, an impressive re-creation of the set (even Phoebe’s guitar is here). –Nina King

Bottle It Up!
Nevada spirits offer a unique view to the past and future
If local sounds good to you, and you enjoy a slightly stiffer side to your drinks, check out the distilleries operating in Las Vegas. Each produces a delicious product (or products), and you’ll find them in drinks all over the valley.
If you’re downtown at The Mob Museum , one of the coolest historical exhibits around, stop into The Speakeasy in The Underground, where you can get house-made beer and cocktails like the Moonshine Mayhem, which features pineapple, tea, cardamom and moonshine. The Distillery Exhibit in The Underground is not only a cool glimpse into 1920s Prohibition culture, it produces The Mob Museum Moonshine—Las Vegas corn whiskey, which is the moonshine used in Moonshine Mayhem. (A distillery tasting can be added on the Deluxe and Premier museum passes).
The Las Vegas Distillery in the Artisan Booze District in Henderson also showcases the history behind the company, where tours take you through the distillery with your guide explaining what’s going on in each of the shining tanks. You’ll sample different spirits at different stages, engaging your tactile and olfactory senses. Stacks and stacks of barrels await bottling on the small line before you exit to a plush tasting room to chill out, have a cocktail and enjoy some tasty eats. The distillery recently released its first gin, which you can find in the Temple of Bloom, a cocktail for two with elderflower, lem-
on, rosemary, cucumber and lemon plus Fever-Tree Sicilian lemonade.
And if you can’t make it to one of those, you can try another Vegas distillery’s product in cocktails all over the Strip. Nevada H&C Distillery ’s Smoke Wagon Whiskey, found in the Arts District, is a spirit with a distinctive, delicious flavor. Head to Prohibition Bar 1923, where you can sip on the uncut, unfiltered bourbon alone, or include it in a flight. (Although H&C does not currently hold tours, hopes are that this year will see that happen.)
You’ll also find other distilleries throughout the great state of Nevada. Close to Las Vegas (about an hour or so away, depending on traffic) in Pahrump is the Desert Cane Distillery, where rums are the star, all distilled with sugar cane grown on the family farm. The
super-cute tasting room offers a variety of inventive, rum-based cocktails like the root beer float and daiquiris.
Farther north in the state is Frey Ranch , where the grains and corns used in the popular spirits (a release of its Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition, 121.14 proof with whiskey as old as seven and a half years, sold out in minutes), are also grown on a family farm. On the farm in Fallon, you’ll find a sweet tasting room where 30-minute tours are offered Saturdays from noon-4 p.m. In Las Vegas, Frey Ranch is a favored spirit in many cocktails, and you can sample the rye in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian in Rockhouse’s Oak Room. This is definitely worth a few minutes, or a few hours, of your time. –Nina King

It’s all about travel and comedy for this general manager
Kara Hatzinger has wanderlust in her heart—the globetrotter has been to 65 countries and counting, with favorites like Cambodia, Bosnia and Israel. She has plans to hit all the national parks, too, and has racked up 28 to date. Her future travel goals include Madagascar and Sri Lanka. So, what does Hatzinger do when not on an adventure? She’s the general manager of Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club at The Linq Promenade.
“The No. 1 part of my job is the cus-
tomer experience,” she says. “Reach out to guests that come in, get to know them and make sure they have a great experience.” And Hatzinger is well schooled in the customer experience, as she’s spent two decades in retail management across the country. “I’ve done everything, I’ve learned everything in retail management, so I needed a new challenge and needed a new place to learn something different, and this was it,” she says. She joined the comedy club a few months ago.

Before heading upstairs to the showroom, hang in the comedy club’s bar and lounge and indulge in some libations that Jimmy Kimmel helped create—like the Top of Sahara. The great summer sip is mixed with Bacardi Superior rum, Myers’s Original dark rum, Cointreau, lime and pineapple juices, and passion fruit purée. –KM
Now it’s her job to help deliver the high standards of the club when it comes to food, drink and stand-up comedy. “I like to think we start the jokes and the fun down here, and then the comics upstairs take it home from there,” Hatzinger says. “I get to joke around with the guests. I’m a little sarcastic so I get to play around with them a little bit. I get paid to make people happy and have a great experience and joke around with me. This job is amazing.” –Kiko Miyasato

Just when you thought The Bedford by Martha Stewart couldn’t get any better, it did
If you’ve never eaten at The Bedford by Martha Stewart, please do something about that. Designed after Stewart’s Bedford, N.Y., home, this restaurant has an elegance, but is drenched in comforting, homey energy. And if you have already eaten there, it’s time to return, as the culinary team has just overhauled its menu to have a more seafood-focused approach. Before we dive into what’s new, there are some musthave mainstays that are totally worthwhile. First and foremost, order the housemade bread basket, because if you don’t, one will arrive at the table next to yours and it will be painfully apparent that you’re missing out. Another great way to start a meal here is an order of Big Martha’s pierogies. Share an order or

two with the table and savor the delicious fluffy potato filling that’s been wrapped in delicate dumpling dough and smothered in brown butter sauce. For a sneak peek of the fresh seafood infusion, order the lobster rolls appetizer. Each roll overflows with Maine lobster meat, gets a coating of Meyer lemon aioli , and is then topped with tarragon, celery, capers, chives, and frisée.
Much of the menu comes
from Stewart’s own cookbooks, and the entrée section is where you’ll find some of her finest fish dishes. Order the lemon risotto with sea scallops for something extremely satisfying yet bright and citrusy, or consider the honey mustard salmon, served with wilted spinach and confit shallots, for a rich and savory dinner.
If seafood doesn’t quite tickle your fancy, find a favorite bite in the steak options.
Consider an 8-ounce wagyu filet or a 16-ounce prime New York strip steak for a single portion, or share the 38-ounce tomahawk for two. All steaks are served with braised leek and watercress for a bit of green and with the option of bordelaise or béarnaise sauces.
With mains so satiating, it’s hard to imagine needing side dishes, but after seeing the options, the dishes on this section of the menu might just be too irresistible to skip. Ooey-gooey four-cheese mac and cheese, Big Martha’s potato purée, blistered shishito peppers … no matter which dish you choose, it’s guaranteed to be a hit.

the Meyer lemon drop, a mix of Tito’s vodka, Cointreau and Meyer lemon juice (served in a glass with a sugar rim, of course). For something more spirit-forward, try the Martha-tini, made with Zubrówka Bison Grass vodka, dry vermouth and a lemon twist, or Martha’s Perfect Manhattan, featuring Woodford Reserve bourbon, sweet and dry vermouth, Angostura bitters and Luxardo cherries.
Don’t forget to sip a refreshing cocktail with the decadent meal you’re sure to enjoy here. For something simple and easy to drink, have

The Las Vegas Songwriters Festival explores the origins of hit songs
BY GENEVIE DURANO
done this here? If we were going to bring the best songwriters in the world, we wanted to do it in the best venues in the world.”
Every chart-topper has an origin story, and this summer, Las Vegas becomes the place to hear them all. The Las Vegas Songwriters Festival, running Aug. 2124 at Mandalay Bay, promises to pull back the curtain on country music’s creative process.
The four-day event is the brainchild of Rob Hatch and Mike Every, Nashville songwriters who saw a gap in the festival landscape. Hatch, who has crafted hits like Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance” and Justin Moore’s “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,” had been to songwriter festivals across the country when the obvious question hit him:
“Vegas is the place for entertainment in the world,” he said in an exclusive interview with Las Vegas Magazine “My thought was, why hasn’t anyone
Working with MGM Resorts International through their company Entersong Entertainment, Hatch and Every have assembled something unprecedented: more than 300 No. 1 songs represented across 100 live performances on five stages throughout Mandalay Bay. The approach here is refreshingly different. Instead of elaborate staging, it’s rooted in intimacy and storytelling, with performances beginning daily at 11 a.m. and

featuring the writers themselves sharing the often-untold stories behind their biggest hits.
Lee Brice sets the tone Thursday night at House of Blues with “Lee Brice: Stories and Songs.” The multiplatinum artist, whose catalog includes nine No. 1 singles and more than 10 billion career streams, will perform alongside the songwriters who helped create those hits, including Billy Montana, Bobby Pinson, Brian Davis, Jerrod Niemann and Liz Rose, among others.
“Lee’s one of the best artists in the country,” Hatch says. “When you look
at his setlist, almost every song he performs was written with one of the writers at this festival. Bringing up these writers to perform their songs should be unbelievable.”
Perhaps the festival’s most compelling element is its re-creation of Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Cafe experience. The House of Blues B-Side venue will be transformed into a replica of the iconic songwriting room, complete with the intimate “songwriter rounds” that made the Bluebird famous. Award-winning broadcaster Storme Warren will host Q&A sessions featuring heavyweight writers like Dean Dillon (George Strait’s “The Chair,” “Tennessee Whiskey”), Paul Overstreet (Randy Travis’ “Forever and Ever, Amen”), Charles Esten (“This Town”) and Rose, who has the remarkable distinction of co-writ-
ing 17 songs for Taylor Swift, including “Teardrops on My Guitar.”
“The Bluebird Cafe is the first thing to come to mind when people think of songwriter rounds,” Hatch notes. “We’re bringing that intimate atmosphere to Vegas, even though it’s on a big stage.”
With tickets starting at $69 for single-day passes and extending to four-day VIP packages, the festival aims to make the experience accessible to a broader audience while maintaining its down-home authenticity.
As for Hatch, the festival represents something bigger than entertainment. It’s about giving credit where credit is due for these songwriters who work behind the scenes. “We would absolutely love to make this an annual thing in Las Vegas,” he says. “I’m super-optimistic about the future.”

Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood celebrates 25
years of fashion and fun
By GENEVIE DURANO
Pop the champagne (or pass around the scorpion shots)! Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood is 25 and feeling fine. Born as The Shops in Desert Passage inside the original Aladdin, the shopping destination underwent a 2007 rebranding that introduced the “Miracle Mile” name, referencing both its 1.2-mile walkway and the famous Los Angeles district.
These days, you can easily spend a full day wandering Miracle Mile’s 475,000 square feet, getting
lost among more than 170 shops, restaurants and entertainment spots while splurging on something special or finding just the right concert fit, regardless of budget.
The silver anniversary celebration runs all August long, with participating retailers, restaurants and entertainment venues offering $25 deals and 25% off discounts, because nothing says “happy anniversary” quite like retail therapy.
To celebrate this milestone, here are 10 fun facts about the Shops:
The Killers got their start here. Before Brandon Flowers was belting out “Mr. Brightside” to sold-out arenas, he was serving up meals where Blondies Sports Bar & Grill now stands. Meanwhile, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. was cruising the mall as a pedicab driver. It has Hollywoodlevel special effects.
The famous rainstorm display has performed more than 150,000 shows since opening.
The newest addition, The Lost City Show, uses 30
projectors to make fire, water, ice, earth and wind dance across V Theater’s walls hourly from 10 a.m. to 11p.m.
Daddy has served 53,000 scorpion shots. That’s nearly 500 shots with
Nacho
actual scorpions every single month since 2016. Better on tourists’ shot glasses than in our shoes, we locals say.
Sin City Sindy is basically the Statue of Liberty of Las Vegas. Standing 31 feet tall in front of V Theater, Sin City Sindy is officially the tallest showgirl on the entire Las Vegas Strip.
Robots mix your drinks here. Tipsy Robot was the nation’s first land-based robotic bar when it opened. These mechanical mixologists don’t judge your drink choices, never have a bad day and definitely won’t cut you off early.
Chester Bennington’s tattoo legacy. Club Tattoo, co-owned by the late Linkin Park frontman, has tattooed celebrities including Jonah Hill, Steve Aoki and Olympic champion Simone Biles.
540 million shoppers served. Since opening, the shops have welcomed nearly 540 million visitors. Meanwhile, Chicago’s Garrett Popcorn Shops—Nevada’s only location—has popped nearly 2 million gallons in its famous copper kettles.
A debut worth standing in line for. In 2007, when H&M opened its first Nevada location here, over 600
people lined up for the grand opening. Apparently, affordable Swedish fashion causes quite a stir.
Art installation overhead. The Rain Show’s sky-painted ceiling got a fresh makeover from local artist Rob Wilkerson, who helped create the original ceiling masterpiece at Paris Las Vegas.
OG tenants. Twelve stores have been there since the beginning— Aldo, Bath & Body Works, Loft, Lucky Brand, Magnet Max, Sephora, Steve Madden, Sunglass Hut, Tommy Bahama, White House Black Market and Wyland Galleries—beating Vegas odds.

Kaskade talks life, music and his residency at Ayu Dayclub and Zouk Nightclub
By KIKO MIYASATO
Photo by Christopher DeVargas Grooming by Sheena Zargari Clothing provided by ACNE STUDIOS
Kaskade is waiting for a phone call from Sade to collab on a song. He was a different flavor of weird growing up. He’s currently working on a full-length album and world domination. Plan B was being a Kinko’s manager. And he wants you to buckle up, ’cause he’s about to take you on a ride when he takes the stage at Ayu Dayclub at Resorts World Las Vegas. A world-renowned EDM DJ and producer, Kaskade lets readers into his life, his music and his thoughts on both as he answers some of our questions and has some fun in front of our camera when he gets into the pool at Ayu Dayclub where, this season, he performs his special blend of mixing familiar songs with melodic, hard-hitting beats. Don’t pass up your chance to see the man in action, be it by the pool during the day or at night at Zouk Nightclub. Until then, get to know more about the man behind the decks.
TELL THE STORY OF HOW YOU FIRST HEARD ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC. WHY DID THE SOUND STICK WITH YOU? I was a weird kid growing up around other weird kids, but a whole different flavor of weird. I had friends, but was drawn to video games, the choir, breakdancing and New Order. I wasn’t a partier, but I wanted to be at the party. I made my way to Medusa’s in Chicago, which was an all-ages club. That was the flash point. I went there and danced; I listened to what was being played and found people whose expressions on their faces looked like mine when those late-’80s 303 acid lines kicked in. I knew those were my people.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR FIRST DJ EQUIPMENT AND DECIDE TO DJ?
WAS IT A HOBBY OR PASSION, OR DID YOU KNOW YOU WANTED TO MAKE A CAREER OF IT?
I had no business DJing when I began. It was more function than form in the beginning. I was in college and was mentally pulling music apart as I listened to it. Certain cadences and chords reminded me of other songs, and I would think, “This song would be cool to layer over that song.” I cut my teeth on playing before I even touched the decks. Once there was an opening, a party that was missing a DJ, I took my passion out of practice and put it into performance. There was so much that went into it back then. Figuring out the BPM of a song. Matching that to the next, which one should slow down, and can I squeeze the spindle just enough so the crowd can’t hear it slow down? Many train wrecks later, it got better
and better. Apologies to the crowds that I learned in front of, but that was the only way to do it, and I appreciate your aural sacrifices.
ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY NEW MUSIC?
I am currently working on a fulllength album release, titled undux Outside of my Christmas albums and Redux EPs, I haven’t released a solo studio album since Automatic in 2015. I’m really excited for people to listen again from top to bottom to hear the entire story. Singles are great, and I’ve enjoyed releasing only one-offs for the last decade, but this is my true love language. Just sit with me for 12 or 13 or 14 songs and let’s dig in.
WHAT’S ON TAP FOR 2026?
World domination, no doubt. There
are a lot of things I can’t talk about yet, but I think 2026 is going to be another year of challenges accepted.
ANY COLLABS COMING UP YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT?
I’m still waiting for Sade to call me.
WHERE DO YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM WHEN CREATING SONGS?
Everywhere I visit. I can be in line waiting for my favorite salad and hear a few people talking about a date the night before, or experiences they’ve had that relate to experiences I’ve had. It gets cataloged in my memory, then when I’m running chords and melodies in my studio those things will visit like ghosts. Not everything I write is self-referential. Most of it is not. If I’ve been around you, even strangers—I just might have written a song about or for you. (This does not apply to any time I’ve been to the DMV. I’ve never been inspired there.)
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS? WHAT SONGS ARE ON REPEAT ON YOUR PLAYLISTS?
I continue to visit my favorites from the New Wave days—New Order, The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode. What they put together had undeniable impact on what everyone creates today in this genre. I’d suggest everyone just deep dive in those libraries. For newer artists that I’m enjoying, I’ve recently found Chiiild, Jace Cameron, Kenya Grace and ROSSY.
YOU PLAYED THE LARGEST CROWD AT COACHELLA IN 2015; YOU JUST PLAYED EDC—WHAT IS IT ABOUT FESTIVALS THAT YOU LOVE?
There’s the obvious part where I get to show up, chill in my trailer, then stand in front of hundreds of thousands of my best friends. But it goes deeper than that. Festivals have morphed the attention paid to electronic music. Some of that is not positive attention, but the side I love is that a lot of people who need that type of acceptance and community get to find out about it and take part in it.
OUT OF ALL YOUR SONGS, WHICH ARE YOUR FAVORITES AND WHY?
Things to Know About Kaskade
He speaks fluent Japanese
He loves to organize his garage
He’s never DJ’d a bar or bat mitzvah, but has DJ’d a wedding
He will not DJ your wedding, but might DJ your bar or bat mitzvah
It depends on the minute of the day that you ask me. I really cannot answer that in an honest way. There have been a few times where I haven’t heard one of my tracks for years and then it pops into my head and that will be my favorite for the next four hours. But then a butterfly flaps its wings and that song falls out of rotation.
Every time any social media platform changes its interface, he cries
on surfing. It has become my main off-work activity. It never gets boring and continues to challenge me no matter how I advance. There is something so humbling about being in the ocean and creating a relationship with it where we both participate.
IF YOU WEREN’T A DJ/ PRODUCER/PERFORMER, YOU’D BE DOING WHAT?
There was never a plan B. It was this or possibly being a Kinko’s manager.
WHAT ARE IMPORTANT LIFE LESSONS YOU’VE LEARNED BEING A FAMOUS MUSICIAN?
BESIDES WORK, WHAT OCCUPIES YOUR LIFE; WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO? HOBBIES, INTERESTS?
During the pandemic I really focused
I don’t know if I’ve learned this or it’s just been reinforced, but I’ve really learned to respect the strength and fragility of the human body. I’ve been sober my entire life, and while I would never push it on anyone, when I see my friends around me celebrating their sobriety, it makes me so happy for them that they’re paying attention to what their body is telling them. I’m convinced that my longevity in this industry is reliant on me showing up for my audience with a

fresh mind. There’s a lot of people who can pull it off and even thrive in any chosen lifestyle, but for me I’m grateful that younger me made that choice early on and older me has benefited from that path.
WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT FROM YOUR PERFORMANCES AT AYU DAYCLUB AND ZOUK NIGHTCLUB?
When I play in Las Vegas, it’s a different conversation with the crowd each time. Typically, if you’re playing in front of a large crowd, they all have geography in common. Everyone lives within a 20-mile radius of the place you’re playing, the collective usually has a common appreciation of a vibe. Las Vegas is so mixed up because the crowd is showing up from all over the world. We have Ibiza, Idaho, Iceland and Iowa. Everyone is pulling from a different context, so every week is different. I try to introduce new music, but I like to pull them in by playing a few universal favorites. When you hear the guitar from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge,” it’s me saying, “Hello, may I have your attention please.’ We all know this song. Now trust me to take you on a ride. Buckle up.”
