I recently read a social media post that resonated with me. I’m paraphrasing, but it basically stated that in anything you do for fun, what matters most is the experience itself and the memories made from it. Yes, the food is great at a restaurant, and the performances are amazing at a Cirque du Soleil show, but when it’s all said and done, it’s the feelings that linger afterward that matter most. Italian restaurant offers one of the best all-you-can-eat deals anywhere on the Strip
One of the best new restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip, Caramella, now has an additional reason to visit again and again: an all-you-caneat brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. If you’ve not yet been to this amazing offering from the Tao Group on the mezzanine level of Planet Hollywood, this is a perfect way to start.
The space is so elegant yet so fun. The main dining room has plenty of seating, with pink and burgundy cushioning in booths lit by sconces that look like monkeys reading newspapers. Elsewhere, you’ll find a candy shop, a secret door to a hidden lounge and patio dining that offers stunning views of the Fountains of Bellagio.
At $55 per person, this might be one of the best meal deals on the entire Strip. Given that this is all-you-can-eat, you may have a tough time figuring out where to start. We recommend starting light with bites like garlic cheese bread, veal Parmigiano meatballs, tuna tartare arancini, jumbo shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half shell.
Now it’s down to business! The chicken and waffles, highlighted by crispy Mary’s Chicken, candied pecans, Calabrian crema and bourbon maple syrup, will satisfy even the heartiest appetites, while vegetarians can stock up on caprese avocado toast, made with grilled country break, heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella and aged balsamic. For an additional $10, add strip steak and three eggs your way to your order.
If you’re looking for classic house specialties, Caramella has all bases covered, from stuffed chicken Parmigiana and cavatelli Bolognese to spaghetti carbonara and spicy tomato penne. You can also add sides like Nueske’s bacon, Caramella home fries, zucchini hash (sooo good!) and grilled broccoli.
What would brunch be without the drinks? For an additional $39, add your choice of bottomless Bloody Marys, mimosas or Bloody Marias (using tequila instead of vodka) to the experience.
Please tell us you’ve saved room for dessert! Yes, it’s an additional $10, but every single one of Caramella’s offerings are worth it, especially the signature Caramella tart, made with dark chocolate custard and salted caramel. –Ken Miller

The property now known as Westgate Las Vegas has some of the biggest bragging rights of any property in town. When it was the International, it hosted the legendary Elvis Presley residency; Liberace’s longest-running Las Vegas residency was at the property when it was the Las Vegas Hilton; and Westgate Las Vegas now hosts Barry Manilow’s residency, which broke Elvis’ record for most performances. But the bragging rights don’t stop there for the property. It’s also home to one of the best dining experiences you’ll find in Southern Nevada: Edge Steakhouse. Before launching into an appetizer, make sure to check out Edge’s incomparable cocktail menu, with highlights including the Vegas Dream, a combo of Tito’s vodka, passion fruit, prosecco and a huckleberry reduction, all served in a pomegranate sugar-rimmed martini glass. Now your taste buds are primed for the fun to come. Entrées are where choices start getting seriously tough. Yes, you could opt for a classic like the 7-ounce filet mignon (medium-rare for us!), which you can get king crab Oscar-style for a serious flavor boost. But there’s also seafood vying for your attention here, from Ora King salmon, served with fondant potato, an orange reduction and green and white asparagus, to Alaskan king crab legs with a lemon beurre monté for dipping. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t include Mary’s Organic Chicken, a citrus-brined poultry lover’s dream served with cippolini onions, royal trumpet mushrooms, baby Brussels sprouts and garlic potato purée.

Crowd support makes all the difference when you’re taking the stage, because let’s face it, not everyone is talented in the singing department. But that doesn’t matter when you’re singing with a group of people who are also singing kind of, sort of on key. Consider a country crowd-pleaser like “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band or and alt-rock classic like 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up.”

Bartender dedicates decades to the bar he loves
For 25 years, Wally Lang has been a friendly face behind the bar of Rí Rá Irish Pub … many a Rí Rá Irish Pub. He joined the company in North Carolina in 1999, and trained to be a bartender. Then he proceeded to help open seven locations around the country, including the one in Las Vegas at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place in 2011, and it’s where he’s been bartending ever since.
“There’s a higher standard at Rí Rá,” Lang says. “One of the easiest things
to help a bartender or server is having a great food and beverage program, and they have that here. They execute it all brilliantly, every day.”
It’s also about tradition, too. The bar we photographed Lang at is an actual bar that operated in Ireland for generations and was reconstructed using the original materials. You’ll also find Lang behind the bar doing traditional pours of Guinness and dispensing his deep knowledge on Irish whiskey and the traditions and

Beat the Vegas summer heat with everything from cocktails to desserts
With Las Vegas heat in full effect, it seems the perfect time to introduce visitors to some of the best chilly options in Vegas. If you are looking for a cocktail, we recommend a milkshake! With National Ice Cream month occurring in July, and National Ice Cream Day on July 20, your milkshake might need a little extra oomph. At Holsteins Shakes & Buns in Downtown Las Vegas, you can enjoy a Bam-Boozled shake like the Donutella, a chocolate shake with coffee liqueur, Nutella and coffee, with a variety of tasty toppings like a mini donut! You can also get it without alcohol. Another great option for milkshakes is at Black Tap
Craft Burgers & Beer in The Venetian, a fun stop that looks out at the Strip. The restaurant’s CrazyShakes are pretty over the top and guaranteed to cool you off—the New Yorker is a strawberry shake with a slice of strawberry cheesecake perched on top, plus fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Other options here include the Brooklyn Blackout, a chocolate shake with two (!) brownies, the Cookie Shake, with a “cookiewich” and crumbled cookies (you can even make this one vegan), and the Cookies ’n Cream Supreme, with a cookies and cream sandwich and crumbled Oreos.
At Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet
Hollywood, you’ll find plenty of margaritas, one of the best being the margarita verde, with lime, cucumber and cilantro mixed with Cabo Wabo blanco tequila. It’s served on the rocks, and that provides excellent heat relief. And stress relief, too, TBH.
If you are looking for more meal-like options, head to one of the excellent sushi restaurants in town like Kusa Nori, an Asian restaurant in Resorts World Las Vegas that has a nice selection of nigiri and sashimi. You can also get handrolls and mochi ice cream if you are around for happy hour from 4-5:30 p.m. daily in the bar.
Venturing off the Las Vegas Strip? An unusual offering
comes from JINYA Ramen Bar in the trendy southern portion of the valley. The Chilled Tan Tan Men consists of thick noodles in a chilled chicken-soy broth with pork soboro.
Want dessert options (other than milkshakes)? Try the cookie trio with vanilla ice cream at Beerhaus in The Park at New York-New York. (Wash it down with an ice-cold beer. I admit I have done this myself.) Also at New York-New York is the hot fudge brownie sundae at America—it’s a classic. Cocolini gelato bar has four locations in Vegas along the Strip, including Miracle Mile Shops and The Venetian, and a cone here is a quick, delicious treat.
If you’re chilling the day away at Drai’s Beachclub at The Cromwell, check out the ice cream bars here. BuzzBar comes in a variety of flavors and is infused with alcohol. It’s a perfect way to cool down.

Featuring an array of replicas of ancient Egyptian items, this exhibit not only displays the findings of Howard Carter, but paints a complete picture of what life was like in the bygone society. Immersive and interactive elements like a virtual reality adventure make this exceptionally engaging for children, while insightful video elements and placards offer an in-depth experience for the historically curious.
For families with particularly young children, it might be hard to find a show that keeps their attention. Luckily Popovich Comedy Pet Theater (702.260.7469) at Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood will do just that. Gregory Popovich, his family and his menagerie of house pets put on a fascinating, funny and touching show with lightning-fast skits, perfect for short attention spans.

When something lasts a long time in Las Vegas, there’s good reason. In a city full of entertainment and dining options, becoming an institution means providing guests from all walks of life an exemplary experience that leaves them with a sense of satisfaction.
Gospel Brunch at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay is one such institution. Since its inception more than two decades ago, the all-you-can-eat buffet and live entertainment experience has been uplifting local artists and filling bellies with delicious food.
Though the word “gospel” refers to the teachings of Christ and the content of the show comes from the Christian faith, it’s important to know this is not an exclusionary event. Host Patti Pennington and a rotating cast of choir singers, quartet singers, soloists and instrumentalists seek to uplift anyone who joins for the morning gathering.

whoever,” says Pennington. “The good thing about our music and His music is it is universal. Everybody can relate to hallelujah, salvation and glory … And then the excitement that we bring in the show—we make you dance and laugh. So, it’s not just straight church.”
The truth in Pennington’s words is incredibly apparent the moment guests step foot in the venue, as there’s a welcoming sense of community and curiosity that fills the room almost as much as the irresistible scents of bacon and maple syrup. Then, when talented performers begin to belt spirited serenades from the stage, the impulse to join the revelry is undeniable.
“Music is medicine, music is life … So many people, especially nowadays, are going through so much. So their soul is yearning for maybe a song or maybe some words to inspire them, encourage them, or prepare what they want to say,
but they don’t have the exact words,” Pennington says. “That’s why I always say it feeds your soul, because whatever you’re yearning for, if you came there depleted, you’re going to leave so full. It’s full of joy, full of laughter, full of abundance, full of love.”
While Pennington and her crew feed souls, the House of Blues kitchen staff is hard at work feeding grateful patrons. Find an irresistible array of creole-inspired bites like jambalaya and chicken and waffles offered alongside breakfast classics like omelets and biscuits and gravy.
“I’ve had waffles before, but there’s something about the way they cook the waffles. It’s so amazing, they have a buttery taste,” Pennington says. “And the bacon … I don’t know where or how they cook this bacon, but (it must be) a certain way they cook it because it’s so freaking good.”
