Get ready for a fun-filled week in Vegas! In addition to our already stellar offerings in entertainment, food, nightlife, attractions and so much more, we’ve added and updated a few things to make your stay that much more memorable.
The city’s newest dayclub, Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand, comes courtesy of Tao Group Hospitality (which has several other similar venues up and down the Strip) and has a special twist: DJ Kygo, who helped come up with the concept, is kicking off his first-ever daytime residency there. And as you’ll discover, that’s only the beginning of the fun in store (“Sway This Way,” p. 24).
One of the Las Vegas Strip’s best free offerings, the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, has updated its seasonal display with Glam Menagerie: A Surrealist Summer, and you won’t want to miss it—it’s the perfect spot to get some great selfies (“Endless Summer,” p. 38).
If you love table games, good news! Planet Hollywood just opened its all-new PH Poker Room, and it’s absolutely gorgeous (“Shuffle Up and Deal,” p. 16 ).

Prepare to Be Moved
Dance the night away with this talented troupe
Timeless, the Jabbawockeez’s show on the Strip, may clock in at just 90 minutes, but in that time you lose all sense of time as you watch the performers defy physics with their bodies.
The group first moonwalked into the spotlight in 2008 when it won MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, but its story actually started in 2003, when founders Kevin Brewer and Joe Larot envisioned a group where the art, not the artist, took center stage. The now-iconic white masks and gloves were the result—a visual unifier that transformed eight distinct dancers into a single, fluid entity. What many don’t realize is that those signature masks weren’t just a stylistic choice. In a dance world obsessed with individual stars and personalities, the Jabbawockeez made the radical decision to literally hide everyone’s faces, creating a democratic approach to performance where every member could be the lead dancer.
After their ABDC victory, the group toured internationally, performing everywhere from small clubs to massive arenas. It’s shared stages with artists like Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars, appeared in major films including Step Up 2: The Streets and even performed at the NBA All-Star Game. Its influence extends far beyond dance—it has inspired fashion collaborations, video game appearances
and a generation of masked performers across multiple entertainment genres. (To get an idea of its reach, check out its Instagram page, which features the group vibing with actors, comedians and other dancers.)
In Timeless, that vision has evolved into a acclaimed multimedia experience that features cutting-edge technology, including projection mapping, LED walls and interactive elements that transform the entire theater into the dancers’ playground. With more than 2,000 performances and counting, Jabbawockeez has become a Vegas institution.
What makes the group stand out from other Strip entertainment is its uncanny ability to connect with every audience member, even behind the masks. The troupe’s faceless style lets you see yourself in the performance, whether you’re a lifelong dancer or someone who does TikTok dance challenges in secret.

Back Stronger Than Ever
Songstress returns to the Las Vegas Strip to perform hit songs with a fresh sound
We’ve sure missed Kelly Clarkson since she’s been gone from the Las Vegas stage. Her exclusive 2023-’24 residency at Planet Hollywood, Chemistry… An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson, was a sold-out success, drawing fans in for a raw, emotional and unforgettable performance. Now the Grammy Award-winning superstar is back with a brand-new show, Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions—The Las Vegas Residency, at Caesars Palace. The limited engagement goes through November.
“I’m so excited to be back in Vegas,” said Clarkson in a news release. And it’s easy to understand why. Las Vegas gives her the perfect stage to do what she does best: connect with an audience. Performing at The Colosseum, a space known for its iconic residencies and great acoustics, she brings her big vocals and relatable honesty into a venue that feels surprisingly close-knit for a 4,000seat theater.
Since winning the first season of American Idol at only 20 years old, Clarkson has become one of music’s most iconic and recognizable voices. With more than 25 million albums and 40 million singles sold, she’s topped nearly every Billboard chart, from pop, dance and country to adult contemporary. Along the way, she’s picked up three Grammys, four American Music Awards, a slew of MTV awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Writing and performing music you love just because you love it, with people that you respect and admire … is what High Road Records is all about,” she said.
Her debut single on the label, “Where Have You Been,” was inspired by a scene in the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building, when Martin Short’s character asks Meryl Streep’s, “Where have you been?” Clarkson turned that line into a song about finally finding the love you’ve been searching for, and knowing enough to recognize it when it arrives.
For Clarkson, this residency isn’t just about the hits; it’s about sharing the journey behind them—the heartbreak, the growth, the joy. Studio Sessions is a chance to hear the songs you love, told by the voice that lived them, in a way you’ve never quite heard them before. – Genevie Durano

Nuclear Revelations
An iconic figure now has a name, thanks to this Las Vegas historian’s relentless research
It’s hard to imagine a spectacle that could top showgirls and Sinatra in 1950s Las Vegas, but the Nevada Test Site, where nuclear weapons testing produced fascinating mushroom clouds viewable from casino rooftops, drew curious visitors to the city in droves. Atomic Museum Vegas offers a deep dive into this part of Vegas’ storied history, and it recently unveiled a new exhibit centered around Anna Lee Mahoney, more famously known as Miss Atomic Bomb, whose likeness was widely recognizable but whose identity remained anonymous until historian Robert Friedrichs solved the mystery.
What prompted your 25-year-long search for Miss Atomic Bomb’s true identity?
When they were building the museum, they talked about using that photo for marketing purposes. I thought it would really be neat if she were still alive and we were able to contact her, have her come to the opening and let her see how important that photo has been for the development of Las Vegas. Unfortunately … she had passed away before that decision was made. So it’s not 25 years (gone to) waste, but it’s nice to have the recognition finally documented and out there.
Why is it so important that this figure has a name?
I thought that her family needed to know. Unfortunately, she had no children. She was married, but her husband had passed away a few years before her. In doing the research, trying to track her down, we were looking at combinations of names … We lucked out when we were working with a combination and found a cousin’s daughter. The mother and the daughter are still alive, and I had included the pictures in the letter that I sent, explaining the fact that we were trying to get an identification on her … She unfortunately didn’t have any (pictures) and I asked her, what was her maiden name? That’s when everything broke loose. That’s when we got her birth certificate, we got her Social Security record, and on the Social Security record, another name associated with that number was Lee Merlin (her stage name).
When that dam burst, I’m sure that was an exciting moment. Oh, yes. When you have no name other than a stage name … that still doesn’t get you anything, you know? So we really were lucky. I did a presentation (at Atomic Museum) on the different iterations of Miss Atomic …
and at the end of the lecture, I always would say, “Now, are you ready to help me find out who it is?” And lo and behold, there was a DRI (Desert Research Institute) employee that was sitting in the back of the room. She immediately went upstairs and started searching, and she found an obituary that indicated (Merlin) had been a showgirl at the Sands Hotel … and that struck a bell for me. That one comment would lead me to who her dance instructor was … who identified that she was in California at the key time period where Lee Merlin was popping up in news articles and photos as being there … and she was registered as a voter with her stage name. It was just pure coincidence that I had asked that question.
Can you recall seeing Miss Atomic Bomb used widespread, or was this one marketing instance that just took off?
Actually, they didn’t use that photo in the first press release. They used a different one, and it was a small picture in one newspaper. Then they went out with this one, and that’s the one the public went crazy over ... And the other issue is that this is such a controversial picture. People have written articles on it and said that she was nude, except for the mushroom cloud. You can see the swimsuit, but people’s imagination just ran with it, and that is considered one of the 100 best photos ever taken. –Em Jurbala

Enjoy classic and contemporary games at this hopping hot spot
Strip hotels are full of bars and lounges, each with their own unique spin and offerings. One of the newest, and easily one of the most enjoyable to date, is The Cove Bar & Arcade at Treasure Island, an all-in-one destination directly across from the Mystère theater that not only features great cocktails and sports viewing, but some of your arcade favorites. There’s no end to the fun to be had at this 7,367-square-foot space. Bring the kids (all children under 14
must be accompanied by an adult) to enjoy simulations of golf, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, rugby, lacrosse and much more, as well as virtual reality games like King Kong of Skull Island. There’s also air hockey, claw machines, champion shuffleboard, Jet Pong (arcade-style beer pong), foosball and classic arcade games like Pac-Man’s Pixel Bash. Perhaps the biggest draw here is duckpin bowling. If you’ve never tried this alternative to classic bowling, it’s
a very challenging variation, featuring shorter and lighter pins, meaning strikes are more difficult.
Add in 19 high-definition televisions, eight video poker stations and a great beer and cocktail menu and you’ve basically found your new party headquarters. However, fair warning: Once you enter, you may never want to leave. –Ken Miller

is redefining the seafood experience on the Strip
By Ken Miller
It’s simply amazing how much of a seafood mecca the Las Vegas Strip has become. Sushi restaurants dot all of Southern Nevada, our fish houses are some of the best in the West, and caviar service is right up there with some of the best locations in the world.
For a superb example of all of this and much more, it doesn’t get better than Aqua, Shawn Hergatt’s magnificent restaurant that’s constantly rewriting the rules about what makes a seafood experience memorable.
The ornately designed space creates a welcoming feel, with room for those who want to enjoy themselves at the bar or large groups who want to dine in comfort seated in plush booths or at extended tables. Make sure to take advantage of Hergatt’s incredible signature cocktail menu, with some truly unique concoctions fashioned for every palate. Vodka lover? Try the Espress Yo Self, an oh-so-sweet sip featuring St. George’s vodka and coffee liqueur and salted caramel. How about tequila fans? The Paint the Town Red is danger-
Asparagus salad
ously drinkable with Flecha Azul, lime, mint and grenadine. And gin fanatics will flip for two powerful potables, both made with Botanist gin: Tokyo Treat, which gets its flavors from melon, lime and coconut cream (seriously, yum!); and the tropical-tinged Island in the Sun, with orange, pineapple and passion fruit.
The caviar portion of the menu here offers everything from Kaluga to Golden Osetra Special Reserve (choose between 50 grams or 125 grams depending on your group size), all served with homemade blinis, crème fraiche and chives. Pricey? Sure, but this is Las Vegas and you’re here to splurge, right?
Now that your taste buds are primed and ready, you’ll want to begin your journey proper with one of Hergatt’s high-end appetizers. Shrimp toast is pure bliss, served on brioche with crème fraiche and caviar sauce, while crab cakes are perched on frisée salad and sprinkled with espelette and accompanied by a citrus and wasabi
aioli. For a really decadent app, head straight to the Hudson Valley seared foie gras, served with cherry tartare, cherry coulis and brioche.
Mains here are surf and turf at its absolute finest. Most of the steaks are from Allen Brothers and range from a wagyu tomahawk to prime ribeye. Seafood options include kataifi scallops with asparagus, coconut green curry and kaffir lime, lobster spaghetti pomodoro with San Marzano tomatoes and Parmigiano-Reggiano, and uni
by
risotto with king crab, uni and gold dust. If you want to go more traditional, check out the filet branzino with citrus relish, caper brown butter and microgreens, or Chilean sea bass with potato espuma, hon shimeji mushrooms and chili oil. Whatever you choose, don’t forget the amazing sides, from a wild mushroom ragout made with heavy cream, brandy, beef jus and olives, or sautéed asparagus, served with sherry vinaigrette, crisped Parmesan and espelette.

It’s literally a cool experience at all three Minus5 Icebar locations
of wearing a parka or faux fur coat and gloves. Stepping inside any of the Icebars is such a cool experience (yes, literally and figuratively!) as you’ll spot all manner of ice (90 tons of it!) from the walls and seating to the sculpture and glassware. The company procures the clearest ice possible, created by a special process that removes all air bubbles, and all the ice sculptures start off as 250-pound blocks of ice that are then carved by professional ice carvers. Return visits are a must, as all three locations refresh the sculptures and themes quarterly. Each Minus5 Icebar is designed with playful sculptures and interactive scenes; gloves will be hard to keep on because you’ll constantly want to conduct photo shoots so the folks back home can check out such a cool Las Vegas experience. Fun for the whole family is welcome from opening till 9 p.m.; after 9 p.m. each location is 21+.
“There is no time limit at Icebar, and
we often see guests vying for longest stay, but I’d say our average guests enjoy the Icebar for 45 minutes to an hour,” says Blake Nightingale, Minus5 Icebar general manager and marketing director. “We provide all the gear to keep you warm, as well as keep each bar full of so many ways to engage and entertain within the experience, that many don’t realize just how long they’ve lasted. … Our founder discovered the concept cruising around the globe and instantly knew that Las Vegas was the perfect place to literally bring the coolest bar to the Strip! Our goal is to bring a truly unique and immersive experience to Las Vegas with unbeatable hospitality and great value. I believe we should be on everyone’s itinerary because we accomplish all that in the coolest and freshest way we know how!”

Winter’s coming! OK, so it’s always winter inside all three Minus5 Icebar locations—The Linq Promenade, The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. Frosted Berries
When you first walk in, you’ll discover an ode to the Arctic, with pictures set in ice of animals and scenery native to that part of the world. As you explore, check out the re-creation of the Zoltar Speaks game, made completely of ice, from the movie Big. There is a section tucked away that takes guests under the sea with floating jellyfish everywhere. There is a Viking ship you can sit in, decorated with Viking swords and flags. Take a pic while sitting on a throne
made of ice with a giant bear carved into it. And the coolest feature of this Icebar is the new vintage arcade section with images of old-school games, Nintendo controllers and an actual video arcade machine set in ice, on which you can play games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Dig Dug.
Our cocktail pick: Frosted Berries, a light and fruity cocktail made with Skyy vodka, peach schnapps and white cranberry juice.
MINUS5 ICEBAR AT THE LINQ PROMENADE (702.586.8925)
The largest of all three locations, this Minus5 Icebar has a ton of cool activations. The minute you walk in, you’ll be greeted by a very Vegas-y display with slot machines made of ice and a roulette wheel and cards set in ice. Any fans of horror movies? Don’t skip taking photos with the ice display dedicated to horror movies with ice carvings of characters like Pennywise and Leatherface. Fans of music festivals? Check out the DJ booth and speakers set in ice, trippy rave-like graphics and a TV displaying videos of festivals from around the globe. The mock fireplace with a giant tiki head made of ice is perfect for a group shot and check-in for your mission to Mars, with space-inspired ice carvings including a huge spaceship. A bonus of this Icebar is its lounge-like space right outside along the Promenade, perfect for people-watching and enjoying another cocktail.
Our cocktail pick: Arctic Sunset, a fruity punch of Bacardi dragon berry rum, pineapple juice, lemon lime soda and a grenadine float.
Each location has a unique bundle experience that really builds in value to experience all three Icebars. Combine an ice experience with a yacht rock show at The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian or with The Booze Cruise cocktail experience at The Linq Promenade. The Fire and Ice Package gets you an Icebar experience, access to 1923
Prohibition Bar and daiquiri cocktails, as well as a couple of take-home souvenirs. When something lasts a long time in Las Vegas, there’s good reason. In a city full of entertainment and dining options, becoming an institution means providing guests from all walks of life an exemplary experience that leaves them with a sense of satisfaction.
Gospel Brunch at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay is one such institution. Since its inception more than two decades ago, the all-you-can-eat buffet and live entertainment experience has been uplifting local artists and filling bellies with delicious food.
Though the word “gospel” refers to the teachings of Christ and the content of the show comes from the Christian faith, it’s important to know this is not an exclusionary event. Host Patti Pennington and a rotating cast of choir singers, quartet singers, soloists and instrumentalists seek to uplift anyone who joins for the morning gathering.
“He’s a universal god. We don’t put Him in this box, which makes Him be presented to everybody, whomever they chose to (worship), whether it’s Allah, whether it’s Catholic, whether it’s

whoever,” says Pennington. “The good thing about our music and His music is it is universal. Everybody can relate to hallelujah, salvation and glory … And then the excitement that we bring in the show—we make you dance and laugh. So, it’s not just straight church.”
The truth in Pennington’s words is incredibly apparent the moment guests step foot in the venue, as there’s a welcoming sense of community and curiosity that fills the room almost as much as the irresistible scents of bacon and maple syrup. Then, when talented performers begin to belt spirited serenades from the stage, the impulse to join the revelry is undeniable.
“Music is medicine, music is life … So many people, especially nowadays, are going through so much. So their soul is yearning for maybe a song or maybe some words to inspire them, encourage them, or prepare what they want to say,
but they don’t have the exact words,” Pennington says. “That’s why I always say it feeds your soul, because whatever you’re yearning for, if you came there depleted, you’re going to leave so full. It’s full of joy, full of laughter, full of abundance, full of love.”
While Pennington and her crew feed souls, the House of Blues kitchen staff is hard at work feeding grateful patrons. Find an irresistible array of creole-inspired bites like jambalaya and chicken and waffles offered alongside breakfast classics like omelets and biscuits and gravy.
“I’ve had waffles before, but there’s something about the way they cook the waffles. It’s so amazing, they have a buttery taste,” Pennington says. “And the bacon … I don’t know where or how they cook this bacon, but (it must be) a certain way they cook it because it’s so freaking good.”

There’s no end to the fun to be had in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a destination that attracts people who like a good adrenaline rush. Whether drawn to table games, nightlife excursions, dining adventures or indulgent shopping sprees, there are more highs for a Vegas visitor to experience than time to enjoy them all. For connoisseurs of altitudinal adjustments, a Vegas visit is an opportunity to cross a few items off bucket lists.
The Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York is the thrill ride most associated with the skyline of the Strip. Traveling at speeds of up to nearly 70 mph, The Big Apple Coaster does not disappoint when it comes to traditional expectations of modern rail rides. It’s famous for its 180-degree “heartline” twist-anddive feature and 203-foot drop. It goes without saying that a Nathan’s hot dog or slice of pizza should follow a Big Apple Coaster ride rather than precede it. There are many views of the Strip from on high that are best experienced rather than described, but hurtling at top speed through New York-New York’s skyline keeps people coming back to the tune of nearly 1.5 million riders per year. And its accompanying arcade is a wonderland of some of your favorite midway-style games.
The highest of the Vegas challenges is the High Roller at The Linq Promenade, one of the world’s biggest observation wheels that’s

become the No. 1 can’t-miss midStrip experience. Sturdy construction assures a safe 30-minute ride that reaches a height equivalent to nearly two football fields laid out vertically and reaching into the sky. The 360-degree view of the Las Vegas Valley is incomparable, whether rota-
tions are made nighttime or daytime. Less observational and more adrenalizing is the FLY LINQ Zipline, the Strip’s only zipline attraction and best option for getting groups of up to 10 careening at the same time. For visitors who don’t like their feet to be very far from the ground, The

Linq offers virtual reality attractions that simulate whitewater rafting, a haunted elevator and a roller coaster. Hardcore zipline fanatics are already cognizant of AREA15, where visitors zoom across the length of the venue’s nerve center The Spine on Haley’s Comet. It’s slightly less intimidating than ziplining from an altitude of hundreds of feet above The Strip, and provides a you-arethere introduction to the immersive

experiences inside the attraction, including Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart and an array of virtual reality options.
Liftoff awaits outside of AREA15, providing a view of the Strip from the west side as it elevates small groups of strapped-in adventurers (and their drinks obtained at nearby Liftoff Lounge) more than 100 feet into the sky. The 10-minute sojourn provides a good time to strategize an approach to iconic indoor theme park Adventuredome at Circus Circus.
Even if you and the family have been here multiple times, Adventuredome is constantly updating its exciting lineup. So in addition to classics like Canyon Blaster and El Loco (which must be experienced again and again before a truly informed opinion worthy of posting online can be developed), enjoy the all-new 6,000-square-foot SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride, as well as upgraded rides like the Twistin Tea Cups, go karts and kiddie swings. Meanwhile, NebulaZ and Sand Pirate can capture the attention of family members for whom roller coasters may be too intense. A rock climbing wall, 18-hole mini-golf course and arcade games can round out an Adventuredome visit.
And just across from Adventuredome is The Garage, which offers the immersive “Birdly” virtual reality experience, neon mini bowling alleys and simulators that let you play golf, soccer, baseball, dodgeball and much more. And for those who like to test their accuracy, there’s also “Axe It Up,” where you throw axes in games like Tic-Tac-Toe, Bottle Crush and Duck Hunt.

Robbie Felice’s pastaRAMEN combines Italian and Japanese cuisine
Food may be fuel, but dining out should be an experience. At least that’s how chef Robbie Felice sees it, which is why he developed pastaRAMEN, a pop-up Japanese-Italian fusion dining concept at Bar Zazu inside Resorts World Las Vegas. (But hurry—it’s only until July 12! )
The concept originated as an invite-only omakase experience that would spring up in nonconventional venues like hair salons and other hole-in-the-wall spaces, which intentionally created a bit of uncertainty, exclusivity and adventure before diners even sat down.
Paired with pastaRAMEN’s delicious dishes, HEAVENSAKE
the pop-up’s spirit of fusion by featuring blends that have been composed by French cellar master Regis Camus in collaboration with well-respected Japanese sake breweries. You’ll try the brand’s Orange Label that Camus created with Urakasumi brewery, the Label Azur, a junmai ginjo, and other delights.

“We’re building up that feeling inside you before you even meet me, before you even hear about the food, before anything, you already have this feeling in you that we were able to create,” says Felice. “That’s really what I wanted to do. So then taking a step further as I didn’t want you to be showing up at a restaurant … I wanted people to be like ‘Yo, why is it saying I’m going to a hair salon?’ Why? Because I’m actually feeding you at a second-story hair salon in Soho in New York City.”
Felice categorizes his food as “Wafu-Italian,” which is not necessarily a new concept, as the fusion cuisine was popularized by chefs in Japan who sought to create classic Italian dishes with traditional Japanese ingredients and techniques. Felice, though, is largely responsible for popularizing these blended bites in the States.
“When I was in culinary school, RESORTS WORLD LAS VEGAS pastaramen.com
Felice’s meals quickly grew popular with exclusive engagements in cities like Miami, Los Angeles, Seattle and Montclair, N.J., with reservations becoming coveted opportunities for foodies. With high demand came the opportunity to expand, and Las Vegas quickly became the perfect market for such a venture.
“I have such a love in my heart for Las Vegas. I feel like it’s like where I really found myself, culinary-wise,” Felice says. “I really got introduced to the whole food scene … and Nicole Brisson was like my culinary mom.”
Brisson, executive chef for Bar Zazu, attended a Montclair pop-up and quickly regarded the meal as
I told myself I will never dabble in any sort of Asian cuisine. I thought it was so intimidating between the language barrier, and all the new ingredients and all the new styles of cooking,” he says. “But obviously wanting to become something bigger than I already was, I knew I had to go into it. I did a lot of training and teaching myself.”

“the best of 2024,” inviting Felice to bring his talents to her home turf.
“We’re not just going there to do the omakase again,” Felice says. “We’re doing a full restaurant popup, and to have a space as cool as Bar Zazu, it kind of blows my mind every day that it’s the space that we’re doing it in because I think it fits pastaRAMEN so well.”
