Criminology on the other hand stands on its own. Application of criminology is what denotes criminal justice while the study of crime describes criminology.

Criminology Perspectives The ultimate objective of criminology is to find out the main factors of happening crimes, and find the sensible techniques of alleviating crimes.

Classical Perspective This precept looks at the principles and ideas of criminal act using these frameworks: ●

The choices and actions of people lie within their own discretion When doing any crime, individuals reasonably weigh the cost against the benefits and do whatever it takes to evade pain by seeking pleasure Crime can be minimizes by imposition of punishments which must be directly related to the actual crime To curb crimes, the authority must act quick and precisely when imposing punishment

Positivism It denotes that apart from seeking pleasure and avoiding pain, there are other things contribute to criminal acts which could be either internal or external and beyond human control. This school of thought was the very first to study human behavior scientifically and this propelled criminology as a scientific discipline.
