When the tables turn in your home

One sunny afternoon, after a hectic day, I met a young lady in my office, looking sad, haggard and miserable. I had hardly uttered a word when she snapped: “I give up!” That moment, I knew the day’s job had just begun.
What about you? How is life with you, sweet, smooth, exciting, interesting? Yes! I can imagine your urge to react to this unrealistic answer of mine. Perhaps the journey to your place of destiny has been really rough and stained with all sorts of challenges. Have you been beaten, battered and betrayed? Does it appear that you’re a disaster going anywhere to happen? I doubt if I’ve creatively captured the ugliness of your situation.
The baseline, my dear, is that life is neither fair nor unfair to anyone. Whatever a man plants into it is what it gives in return. Take into cognizance, therefore, that to a large extent, it is your perspective of life that moulds and shapes yours. Life, though a constant phenomenon, is designed with times and seasons, ups and downs. Many a times, it offers some complex issues that are difficult for one to handle. What then is the way out of such situations? My first counsel to you is that you avoid comparing your situation with your neighbour’s. Remember, you are different people with separate destinies. Besides, your high tide may be your neighbour’s low season.
Since the days of Adam, God has never created a perfect condition for man. If He does, man may be irrelevant to life. Perhaps your season of roses has changed to chaos; do understand that the journey of life, like any normal road, is full of hills and slopes. You may now be ascending the hills of life, exerting much strength and energy; bear in mind that it is an essential criterion for attaining your peak in life, if you do not quit. Unfortunately, as life would have it, you may need to first descend, in preparation for ascension. Going up is tough, compared to sloping, which occurs easily. Thus, your tough time may just be your process of ascension. Hard as it may be now, you are going up.
In spite of all the obstacles and
slopes in a journey, they should not stop you from reaching your destination. Don’t be bitter. Holding on to grudges against another has a way of destroying an individual, and breaking marriages and homes. Talk about it and let it go. During a counseling session with a couple, Kunle and Bunmi, we soon traced the root of their 3 year marital problems to the day Kunle slapped his wife, who, ever since, held a grudge against him. The story soon turned around for good when they discussed it and forgave each other.
Perhaps you are presently the bread winner of your home; do not despise your husband in his low estate. Instead, be his help meet. Support him, and hope for a change. It might just be his low season; he will surely rise again, if you stand by him rather than ride over him.
Are your dreams for your children waning? Are you being forced to pull your children out of their dream school because the fees are not forth coming? The destiny of each child of yours is in God’s hands and not in any man’s. Just guide them in the way of the Lord, and they will fulfill their destinies. (Proverbs 15:16; 17:1.) KJV
Delay is not denial. You may be married for years, and yet have no child. Bitterness won’t bring them. God requires of you, a positive and prayerful attitude. Get your inspiration from the story of Hannah, who though wanted a son, was, at the proper time, blessed by God, with Samuel-a prophet.

manage every of your life seasons. “In the day of prosperity, be joyful, but in the day of adversity, consider: Surely God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.” (Eccl. 7:14) KJV
So, beloved, don’t give up. Do not focus on that problem of yours. Instead, see Christ in the storm, with faith in your heart that all will be well. He has allowed it for a purpose. He’s the master chess player. Therefore, in His time, He will make all things beautiful for you. Cheers!
