Golf Industry Show Makes Return to San Antonio For just the second time, the Golf Industry Show was held in San Antonio, Texas this February – and it was the Show’s first time using the recently completed Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. While the format of the Show was similar to previous years, it was certainly a new experience and environment for Show attendees. The week kicked off with the annual Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) golf tournament and education. The trade show Opening Ceremony began Wednesday morning with the show concluding on GCBAA MEMBERS GATHER AROUND THE GREEN OF INSIDE THE Thursday night with the Closing Ceremony featuring ROPES FOR THEIR GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AT THE Saturday Night Live celebrity, Darrell Hammond. GCBAA GOLF INDUSTRY SHOW. was heavily involved in this year’s show with their annual activities. Association staff and volunteers arrived early to start building the Inside the Ropes golf hole feature in Hall A of the Convention Center. Inside the Ropes covered 20,000 square feet and highlighted sod and other golf course features giving the area the look and feel of a finishing hole at a major golf tournament. Monday of show week the GCBAA Board held their dinner with special mentions of gratitude for the GCBAA Certification Board of Governors, the GCBAA Foundation Board of Directors and the outgoing and incoming officers of the Association. Tuesday the GCBAA Board, along with several committees, held their meetings while other GCBAA members participated in the GIS education offerings. The Tuesday night GCBAA General Membership Meeting, sponsored by LASCO Fittings, Inc., was a unique experience for our membership. The meeting was held Inside the Ropes with everyone standing on the green. The GIS exhibit floor was laid out in such a manner that an airwall could be closed allowing final touches to be made to the trade show floor all while GCBAA members and guests were able to utilize the Inside the Ropes area for the meeting and opening reception. Incoming and outgoing board members for both the Association Board of Directors as well as the Foundation Board of Directors were welcomed and thanked at the General Membership Meeting. The group also congratulated GCBAA Certified Builder & Irrigation Contractor, Heritage Links, on their Charter Membership. A review of the state of the association for 2017 and 2018 6 President's Perspective was given by GCBAA Executive Director, Justin Apel. Partnerships with Caterpillar Inc., Sunbelt Rentals, and Profile Products as well as the introduction of the new Wacker 7 Executive Director Notes Neuson program were discussed and finally a check was presented by the Wadsworth 8 Foundation Update Golf Charities Foundation. Before concluding the meeting, Paul Cope and Ashley 8 New Members Wilkinson introduced the Mike Roach Memorial Scholarship for turfgrass students attending the Horry Georgetown’s Technical College in Myrtle Beach. Before the meeting adjourned, 18 Developer's Guide GCBAA staff surprised Paul with the attendance of his family and a celebration of his contributions over 50 years in the golf industry. It was a truly remarkable surprise and so 24 Allied Associates fun to be a part of!

At 6:00 p.m. sharp the doors opened and the Opening Reception began. Throughout the evening, GCBAA honored 2018 Don Rossi recipient Mr. Ken Melrose. Unfortunately, Ken was not able to join the group so accepting the award on his behalf was a familiar face to the Association, Rick Lohman with The Toro Company. Rick had a chance
