Welcome.....
Dear Team,
Welcome to the first edition of LSH Matters for 2025!
As we step into the new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our achievements and the exciting opportunities ahead. 2024 was a year of resilience, teamwork, and progress. We navigated challenges, delivered strong results across our business, and continued our commitment to delivering excellence for our customers.
Looking ahead, 2025 will bring both opportunities and challenges for the UK automotive industry. Economic conditions remain fluid, and the sector is evolving rapidly with new regulations, shifting consumer trends, and the growing focus on electrification. Overcoming challenges will require innovation, agility, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. We must stay focused on our key priorities:
• Strengthening our new car and fleet business – particularly with BYD, where we have a huge opportunity to expand.
• Driving profitability in used cars – improving margin and stock turn.
• Enhancing aftersales absorption – ensuring we optimise service, repair, and parts performance.
• Maximising efficiency in every area of the business – focusing on smart cost management and operational excellence.
As a team, we will continue to have open discussions on how we tackle industry shifts and seize new opportunities. Your insights and contributions are invaluable, and I encourage you to stay engaged in shaping the future of our business.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Let’s make 2025 a year of progress, success, and growth together.
Kind regards,
Vaughan VaughanBlackman

BYD Bury Opens

We are thrilled to share that our brand new BYD dealership is officially open in Bury, right in the heart of the Millgate Shopping Centre.
The high-tech experience store showcases the full range of BYD models, with five cars on display and test drives of all models available from the centre.
Current models include the BYD ATTO 3, a spacious C-SUV, BYD Dolphin, an agile and versatile electric hatchback, BYD Seal, a dynamic and intelligent saloon, BYD Seal U, the ultimate family car, and BYD SEAL U DM-I, an all-new plug-in Hybrid SUV for families.
Angela Tierney, Shopping Centre Manager at Mill Gate Shopping Centre, said: “We are thrilled to welcome BYD Bury to our shopping centre. We look forward to showcasing the brand’s cutting-edge vehicles and making electric motoring more accessible for our shoppers.”
Mark Taylor, Head of Business, BYD Bury, said: “BYD provides exceptional value and is committed to making electric motoring accessible for all. Our new Bury store will provide an outstanding experience for guests to see and test-drive the full range of amazing BYD vehicles.”
This is just the beginning of an electrifying journey for our team and the local community.

Our Tamworth transformation is nearing completion.

The extensive redevelopment has created two new showrooms, one for Mercedes-Benz and one for BYD. Externally, the building incorporates modern design features, ensuring a blend of landscaped areas to embrace the location.
The renovated facility now has two state-of-the-art car sales showrooms, along with an upgraded external used car sales area, updated servicing and repair workshop, and valeting facilities.
The BYD store showcases the full range of models, with four cars on display and test drives of all models available.
Five models are on display in the new Mercedes-Benz showroom, where the latest Mercedes-Benz design philosophy has been implemented to create a premium and sophisticated environment for customers to enjoy.
A designated private handover bay enables customers to enjoy a personalised experience when they collect their new vehicle. We have also created additional customer parking, and a convenient service drop off and collection area.
Mercedes-Benz of Tamworth and BYD Tamworth will provide professional aftersales care and outstanding servicing with a dedicated MOT and four-wheel alignment ramp. The upgraded 14 ramp workshop also includes six EV ramps, vehicle charging, and new valet bays, enabling Tamworth to become an EV site for all service, warranty and repair work.
The whole team have done a fantastic job, and we would like to thank everybody involved for their contribution. Keep your eyes peeled because once we open to the public, we’ll be hosting two launch events, one for Mercedes-Benz of Tamworth, and one for BYD Tamworth. Invitations will be sent to customers, as well as colleagues who can invite family and friends along to see the new facilities.
International Women’s Day
8th March 2025
Accelerating Action for Equality
As we celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, this year’s theme ‘Accelerate Action’ is a powerful reminder that progress towards gender parity is moving too slowly.
According to the World Economic Forum, at the current pace, it will take until 2158 - five generations from nowto close the gender gap. In an industry driven by innovation, it’s time to speed up change, ensuring equal opportunities for women in automotive and beyond.

At LSH Auto, 29.4% of colleagues identify as female.

Inspiring Women in Automotive
Last month, Tracy Ellam and Nikki Leonard had the opportunity to attend a Women in Automotive event, hosted by Autotrader at the AllBright in Mayfair, London. It was an inspiring afternoon filled with meaningful discussions, insightful ideas, and valuable best practices centered on all things automotive. One of the key takeaways from the event was the powerful reminder that “people buy from people.” Building trust and genuine connections remain essential in our industry. Approximately 50% of drivers in the UK are women, highlighting the importance of the customer experience for women, with conversations addressing how dealerships can better cater to female customers. A particularly eye-opening insight came from a recent study revealing that one in two women find a visit to a car dealership boring. This underscores the need for us to continue improving how we engage with all customers, creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment.
As you know, we hosted three networking events as sponsors of Women of the Year which brought approximately 150 women into our Stockport and Birmingham sites in 2024. By creating these welcoming and engaging experiences, we’re not only breaking down barriers for female customers but also positioning ourselves as a brand that truly values inclusivity. Industry research highlights that many women find car showrooms intimidating or daunting to visit, with a 2023 survey revealing that 95% of female respondents felt overwhelmed by the amount of information provided by sales staff, and 93% expressed disinterest in learning about different types of car technology. These insights reinforce the importance of initiatives like ours, which aim to create a more engaging and comfortable environment for female customers.

By inviting female attendees into our spaces in a relaxed and supportive setting, we’re helping to change perceptions and ensure our showrooms feel approachable to everyone. The positive feedback from these events has highlighted the value of fostering connections and making customer experience a priority. We hope that many of the women who attended will share their positive experiences with friends, family, and colleagues - encouraging more women to consider us for their future car purchases and servicing needs. These events also showcase our company as a great place to work, strengthening our employer brand and attracting potential future employees.
Off the back of this, we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be introducing some exciting initiatives to attract more female colleagues and customers to LSH Auto. We hope these initiatives will inspire our female colleagues to explore the breadth of opportunities available in the automotive industry and feel supported as they navigate and excel in their careers.
By learning from women who are paving the way and championing their roles within the industry, we aim to empower our team members to reach their full potential. Together, we can make a meaningful difference, not only for our customers but also for our colleagues. We’re proud to champion women in automotive and look forward to seeing how this initiative grows and develops in the months to come.
Our next Women of the Year Event is on 3rd April in Birmingham

JANUARY
Everybody meet Luna!
DECEMBER

The Mission Christmas van for Cash for Kids Manchester certainly did the rounds at LSH Auto. The team made an outstanding effort to collect new toy donations at all three of our Manchester sites. Together, we were able to create a magical Christmas for children in need across Greater Manchester.
Christmas Jumper Day was taken to the next level this year at Mercedes-Benz of Stockport in an effort to raise funds for The Christie Charity.
Luna’s parents, who are valued customers of ours, shared with us that Luna is an enthusiastic admirer of former England Lioness footballer Jill Scott and one of her wishes was to have her football signed by Jill.
Given Jill is one of our close friends and an ambassador of LSH Auto, we took the opportunity to facilitate a special meeting for Luna at Jill’s café Boxx 2 Boxx Coffee located in Northenden, Wythenshawe, where Jill very kindly signed Luna’s football. To say Luna was happy would be a huge understatement.

Energy savings in the 12 months to December 2024:
LSH Auto UK Ltd Energy Reduction Programme

The above is due to the installation of solar panels at Birmingham and Stockport, and LED lighting in high usage areas. 2025 should see a further reduction in spend due to the installation of solar panels in Tamworth.

Fuel Costs
In April 2024 we started the process of moving our Fuel Card supplier from Allstar to UK Fuels, this was fully transitioned by the end of June. In addition to the 2% discount on fuel costs UK Fuels offered us, we increased our focus on the purchase of expensive premium fuels & over 25 litres.
Our cost per litre in the 6 months to June 2024 £1.14, compared to £1.29 in the same period in 2023 which equates to a saving of £22,000, in 6 months! We appreciate your support during the transition and focus on restricting premium fuels for AMG models only.
Health & Safety
Thanks to everyone for the engagement in the SHINE training modules that needed to be completed in Q4, resulting in our compliance score increasing to 67%. Our objective is to reach and maintain this above 80%, so please ensure that you complete the allocated training course within the two-month timescale.
The focus for January and February has been the newly released Sexual Harassment Awareness courses for colleagues and managers. Recent legislation changes place a duty on employers to risk assess and take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of our employees, contractors and customers. It’s really important for us all to understand this subject and that we have a “zero tolerance” approach. Our Sexual Harassment policy is also available on Blink.
At the time of writing this article, the completion statistics were 55% for both courses, please complete the course before the end of February.

Compliance & IT
Enhancing Data Security and Sustainability with Varonis and SharePoint
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and data security, we are excited to share the progress of our latest initiative to better manage and protect our digital assets, mainly the vast amount of data and information we hold.
Implementing Varonis for Enhanced Data Security
Recognising the critical importance of data security in today’s digital age, we have integrated Varonis into our systems which improves:
• Data classification, governance, and security
• Monitoring, protecting, and managing our data (using advanced tools)
• Our ability to identify sensitive information, control data access, and detect potential threats in real-time
This proactive approach not only secures our data but also ensures compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Data Classification & Data Governance
Varonis uses sophisticated algorithms to classify data based on its content and context. This allows us to:
• Prioritise and protect our most valuable information assets
• Identify sensitive data such as personal identifiable information (PII) and intellectual property
• Apply appropriate security measures and mitigate risks effectively
Data governance is a key component of our strategy. Through automated processes, we can ensure that only authorised personnel have access to specific data sets, reducing the likelihood of data breaches and unauthorised access.
Migrating to SharePoint for Improved Collaboration
In tandem with our Varonis implementation, we are migrating our physical file servers to SharePoint’s cloud-based platform which offers a centralised and secure environment for storing, sharing, and managing documents.
This transition not only aligns with our sustainability goals by reducing our reliance on physical storage but also enhances our ability to share documents in a secure way.
Implementing a Data Retention Policy
A crucial aspect of our project is the development and implementation of a data retention policy. This policy outlines the guidelines for:
• How long data should be retained
• When data should be securely disposed of
• Managing our data lifecycle more effectively
• Minimising storage costs and reducing data clutter
Environmental and Economic Impact
• Reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint associated with data storage
• Optimise our IT resources
• Reduce costs
• Improves our economic sustainability
We look forward to sharing more updates on our progress and the positive impact of this project in future newsletters. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our mission of excellence in data security and sustainability.
