2022 Cape May County Woman of Achievement

Denise Beckson serves as a Vice President of Government Affairs and Human Resources with The Morey Organization, Inc. dba: Morey’s Piers in the Wildwoods, New Jersey. In this capacity, she oversees the Corporation’s Government Affairs and Human Resource Division.

She has spent 30 years in the amusement / theme park industry, dedicating much of her career to Morey’s Piers. She worked her first summer at Morey’s Piers at the age of 14. Some years later, but still driven by her core commitment to excellence, she serves as an executive-level member of the management team responsible for business operations.

Denise is active and passionately involved in the industry-at-large. She is an officer on the New Jersey Restaurant & Hospitality Association Board of Directors and serves on the New Jersey Amusement Association Board of Directors. Denise is a Senior Associate for Ellis & Associates and is a Director for their International Safety School. She is also actively involved in the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), where she has previously served on the Board of Directors. Denise currently serves as chair of IAAPA’s Global Government Relations Committee and North American (NA)

Government Relations Committee; she also currently sits on IAAPA’s Governance Committee and NA Advisory Committee. Denise is the past chair of IAAPA’s Global Education Committee and is a former member of the Executive Finance Committee and Strategic Planning Committee.

Denise frequently shares her expertise as speaker at industry conferences throughout the country and internationally; and she is frequently featured in and interviewed for publications and media outlets, including Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, National Public Radio, Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier Post, Atlantic City Press, World Waterpark Magazine and IAAPA’s Funworld magazine.

She regularly advocates at both the New Jersey State House and Capitol Hill for issues of vital importance to the amusement industry: the Department of State’s BridgeUSA Program, Minimum Wage, Minor Labor Laws, Healthcare, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Ride Safety, to name but a few.

Denise obtained her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and her graduate degree from American University.
