MESSAGE FROM

GEORGE FISCHER President and CEO Dear Members, February is a month when we celebrate Valentines Day and honor our Presidents. It is also the month when Punxsutawney Phil emerges from the winter cold, every year, to see if he will see his shadow. Legend has it that if the creature, named after the Pennsylvania town, sees its shadow, that means six more weeks of winter. In anticipation of the woodchuck seeing his shadow, we have assembled numerous activities to welcome you to the Club and help make it to the Spring.

“ We have assembled numerous activities to welcome you to the Club and help make it to the Spring.”

Spend some time with friends and learn a new skill in this month’s Cocktails and Crafts which features greeting cards just in time for Valentine’s Day! Also, this month we are featuring the Parent Child Power 90 Tournament at our Tennis Center. Parents will have a chance to play with their child in a great fast-paced format. And speaking of tournaments, come out and support the men’s Colorado College tennis team as they host their first home match of the 2024 season here at the Club. February is Heart Month so plan to attend the February 29th “Lunch and Learn” being offered by Strata Med where you will learn approaches and techniques to mitigate the risk of cardiovascular disease from Drs. Habashy and Barber. Demonstrations of exercises and activities for the cardiovascular system will be given by Carissa Nelson and Shahid Rahman from Strata Fit and Chef Nathan will give an interactive cooking demonstration. Don’t forget that the newly renovated KC Grille is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with Laura Rupejko performing on Wednesday evenings. The Rocks Lounge is open Friday and Saturday evenings, 3:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. with Laura performing on Saturday evenings. And a special menu will be offered in the Grand View Restaurant for Valentines Day. I encourage you to review the Food and Beverage information in this Newsletter. Lastly, changes have been made to the property Rules & Regulations and the Bylaws. Please refer to the Member Portal for the most up-to-date information. Yours Sincerely, George Fischer President and CEO Fe b r u a r y 2 0 2 4 03

Executive Chef Nathan has been cooking up this excellent dish featuring three beautifully crispy enchiladas stuffed with roasted mushrooms, grilled zucchini, squash, and caramelized onions. Topped with cheddar jack cheese and a traditional red chili sauce. S I P of t h e M O N T H : $10 KIR ROYALE

Whether you are here to enjoy a beautiful Valentine’s celebration dinner or just a regular weekday lunch we will be offering a $10 special on the very classic Kir Royale for the entire month of February. WINTER GOLF I N F O R M AT I O N We have been doing our best to keep a normal 18-hole course rotation in play until we transition entirely to the winter course. Winter guest rates are in effect and do not include the cart fee. •

Please make sure your have a tee time, walk ups are very difficult when we are only untilizing 18-holes. Please do not expect to play if you do not have a tee time.

Please call ahead for frost & weather delays (719-636-2520).

Frost/weather delays or closures will be emailed via Jonas to all members with tee times on the day of play.

It is recommended there be a maximum of 2 carts per group during the winter course months. The golf course benefits from less cart traffic during the winter months.

The range tee is limited to the mat area on the South end of the practice tee.

Range balls are located in the golf shop until spring. When practicing only, those members not on the range club will be charged $6 per bag for their range balls. Range balls are included when playing golf.

Make sure you are repairng ball marks and filling divots with sand mix provided.

IN OUR

COURT EYE CONTROL IS EVERYTHING

In all racquet sports eye control is everything when pertaining to contacting the ball correctly and keeping your body position correct. Most errors occur from our eyes looking ahead of our contact point thus causing us to make contact incorrectly on our racquet. Try focusing on watching the ball to your padel or racquet and keeping your eyes on where the ball was after contact, ensuring that you keep your head very still before and after contact. If the eyes begin to look ahead of contact or look to where you want to place your shot our entire body will begin to lift out of our stance causing the ball to either pop up or go into the net. By focusing on the ball contact your racquet this will keep your body aligned with your shot.

HEART HEALTH From Dr. Michael J. Barber Strata Med Medical Director As a Cardiologist, I recognize we all live in a world that’s seemingly switched on all the time providing little space to relax and just breathe. Work, family obligations, financial pressures, and the general fast pace of life cause many of us to experience anxiety and stress resulting in a mind that races, that’s unsettled, restless and uncontrollable. All that stress, obviously, is bad for the body and impacts everything including our cardiovascular system contributing to: • • • • • •

High blood pressure Irregular heart rhythms Damage to your arteries Higher cholesterol levels Coronary artery disease or atherosclerosis, and A weakened immune system

While there are many anti-anxiety medications available, they’re often perceived as crutches to help get through the day and most come with side effects. Natural approaches such as meditation, acupuncture and relaxation techniques help calm the mind, focus the breath, allow acknowledgement of the good things in our lives and the world, and help us let go of negative thoughts. Meditation and acupuncture are probably the most common and effective natural techniques used to manage the causes of cardiovascular disease and potentially lower the risks of future complications.

PASSIONATE PAIRINGS: CREATING A WEDDING MENU THAT IGNITES THE SENSES Your wedding day is a celebration of love, a moment when two souls unite to embark on a journey together. What better way to tell your unique love story than through a carefully crafted wedding menu that not only tantalizes taste buds but also ignites the senses? Infusing personal touches into your menu can transform your wedding feast into a culinary masterpiece that reflects the essence of your relationship. Select dishes that hold sentimental value, representing milestones, shared memories, and inside jokes. This not only makes the dining experience more personal but also adds an extra layer of meaning to the celebration. P I C T U R E D A B OV E : H U S B A N D A N D W I F E , S A L A N D C A R LY

In addition to the savory delights, pay attention to the beverages that will accompany your meal. Craft special drinks that complement the flavors of your chosen dishes and add an extra layer of sophistication to the dining experience. Whether it's a signature cocktail named after a significant moment in your relationship or locally sourced wines that showcase the region where your love story blossomed, these thoughtful pairings can elevate the entire dining experience. A passionately curated wedding menu is not just about the food; it's a sensory journey that allows your guests to savor the essence of your love.

3 FIVE SELF-CARE TIPS FOR THE GARDEN OF THE GODS BRIDE As you prepare to say "I do", it's essential to ensure that you not only sparkle in your gown but also radiate a natural glow from within. At Strata Well, our brides can choose from a variety of services that will prep their skin for the big day. Here are five self-care tips we recommend doing before walking down the aisle. 1. DRINK UP: COMBAT DRYNESS Colorado's high elevation and dry climate can be harsh on your skin. Consuming 6-8 glasses of water daily and the best way to hydrate your skin from within. 2. GLOW UP WITH A HYDRAFACIAL Lock in moisture and achieve that dewy, photo ready, radiant glow. This treatment is one of the best ways to prep your face before your wedding day makeup!

I still pinch myself to think we now own it." - Mackey
