For over a century, All Hallows High School has been dedicated to providing an exceptional education that enriches the lives and inspires the minds of our students here in the South Bronx. As we approach the future, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in our 115-year history, with the opportunity to adapt and enhance our offerings by embracing coeducation. Here’s why we believe this change is both necessary and beneficial for our school and the broader community.
1. Catholic Grammar School Closures: Several Catholic grammar schools in our area have closed due to changing demographics and economic challenges. This has left a gap in quality educational opportunities for families seeking faith-based education.
2. All-Girls School Closures: Similarly, the closure of all-girls schools has reduced options for families. By becoming coeducational, we can absorb some of this demand, providing continuity for families dedicated to a faith-based education.
1. Expanded Curriculum: Coeducation will allow us to broaden our curriculum, introducing programs that cater to a wider range of interests and talents.
2. Improved Extracurricular Activities: A coeducational environment will enhance our extracurricular programs, from sports to arts, creating more dynamic and competitive teams and enriching the overall student experience.
3. Strengthening Community Ties: Embracing coeducation aligns with our mission to serve the community. By adapting to the changing needs of our area, we reaffirm our commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive education.
There are inherent benefits of diverse learning environments. Coeducational settings foster collaboration, mutual respect, and prepare students for real-world interactions where men and women work together. By going coed, All Hallows will offer a more holistic educational experience. Our students will benefit from a curriculum enriched by diverse perspectives, preparing them better for higher education and the global workforce.
All Hallows High School believes that transitioning to a coeducational model is a strategic and necessary step to ensure our school’s longevity and relevance. It honors our 115-year tradition by evolving to address current educational and community challenges, as well as enhancing the educational experience for all students. Together, we can build a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment that prepares students for a diverse and interconnected world.
What an incredible year we had in 2023-2024, marking the completion of our 114th year! As we enter our 115th year as a college preparatory institution, we remain steadfast in our commitment to preparing our students academically, mentally, and spiritually. I am thrilled about the exciting changes ahead. Our 115th year promises to be transformative one for our school as we are excited to announce that we are going CO-ED.
As we embark on this new journey, we are dedicated to instilling character and integrity in our incoming freshmen, welcoming them to a nurturing environment where they will be equipped to tackle the complexities of the world. With the same
unwavering commitment, we aim to empower our seniors with the tools they need for success. We invite you to discover how All Hallows is pioneering in this evolving landscape, leading the way in developing future leaders. If you are interested in learning more, please complete our interest form. You can also request a private tour or sign up for a shadow day to witness firsthand how leaders are nurtured at All Hallows.
We are small, we are safe, and we are successful. Our 114-year legacy stands as proof. Should you have any questions regarding the admissions process, I am here to assist families in making informed decisions. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

For the coming school year, one of our goals is to increase participation in some of the new, incredible academic opportunities we offer at All Hallows.
For many years, taking an AP course was the only way for students to earn college credit during high school, but now, through our partnership with Modern States, any student who is interested can enroll in a course, complete the coursework at their own pace, and take a CLEP exam to earn college credit–for free!
Another academic distinction that All Hallows offers is for qualified students to earn the New York State Seal of Bi-literacy, which becomes part of their transcript and diploma and may lead to many other opportunities–and All Hallows is currently one of two Catholic schools offering this honor.
The arts are also very close to my heart, and I am thrilled with the way that our music program, particularly our band, led by ETM Teacher of the Year Alfredo Hernandez, has impacted the culture of All Hallows in a very short time. I would like to see that program continue to grow, and I would love to bring an art course into the curriculum in the future.
Ms. Holly Oddo Vice-Principal of Academics hoddo@allhallows.org
As Campus Minister of the All Hallows community, my role will be to provide opportunities for daily prayer and prayer services, the Celebration of the Eucharist at Mass, and the preparation of students to receive Baptism, First Confession, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Mr. Dennis Figueroa is the Director of Campus Affairs within the Campus Ministry Office. His role will be to organize retreats for the students and faculty, along with organizing the students’ Christian Service Hours. There will be opportunities for “Community Service” where students go to non-profit organizations to offer time and help in the community. There will also be opportunities for “Church Service”for students to attend Communion Prayer Services in the Chapel before school, and for praying the Rosary at times after school. My goal as Campus Minister is to strengthen our Catholic identity as a faith community. This will be done by providing opportunities for more prayer, Scripture, Mass, and the reception of Sacraments for the faculty and students. Jesus Christ is the heart and soul of our school, and He is present in the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel. All our activities and actions will be rooted in this great gift, and the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts and minds of our faculty and students.
Along with my Campus Minister duties, I also have responsibilities as a Christian Brother, and Religion Teacher. I look forward to working with our community to instill in our students an authentic spiritual life.
May God continue to bless all of you with His Grace and Peace,

All Hallows High School is pleased to announce that it has been selected as an Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) school - a partnership between Amazon and Edhesive to improve access to computer science education in communities currently underrepresented in the technology field.
According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, by 2020 there will be 1.4 million computer-science-related jobs available and only 400,000 computer science graduates with the skills to apply for those jobs.
Amazon and Edhesive are partnering to address this gap by sponsoring teachers and administrators who demonstrate this need and are committed to bringing computer science to their school.

Our students maintain this outdoor space by watering, pruning, planting seeds and sprouts for hundreds of specimens: tomatoes, radishes, squash, cabbage, broccoli, okra, onions, and eggplant. Our students have also dedicated one corner of the area to create a medieval monastic herb garden, complete with sage, parsley, thyme, lavender, and rosemary.

Alfredo Hernandez, music teacher at All Hallows High School has been named the 2023 ETM Music Teacher of the Year. Mr. Hernandez works at All Hallows High School joining our ranks as a full-time faculty member last fall.
All Hallows High School hadn’t had a music program for decades until they partnered with ETM.
Mr. Hernandez joined the school in 2021 and quickly built a comprehensive music program impacting all students. Mr. Hernandez serves as the All Hallows’ Music Technology teacher as well as the Director of the All Hallows’ Modern Band. Through the music programs that he created, Mr. Hernandez has taught students who have never played an instrument, and he has inspired them to find their musical talents. The Hallows’ Band performed at Josh Groban’s Find Your Light Gala this past April and performed the national anthem at a Yankees game in June 2024.
For nearly three decades, Paul Fontana has held the role of moderator of the All Hallows Players, leaving an indelible mark on our school community. Over the years, Mr. Fontana has seamlessly woven the arts into the very fabric of our school. His commitment to fostering the artistic spirit among our students is evident through a range of remarkable accomplishments, from performances of classic plays beginning with Henry V to a recent performance of Macbeth. Through an array of talent showcases throughout the school year students are given an opportunity to demonstrate their creative talents through diverse forms of expression from spoken word performances to magic shows.
Mr. Fontana has fostered invaluable partnerships connecting our students to performances and exhibits beyond the walls of All Hallows. We have partnerships with The Acting Company and Theatre Development Fund (TDF). Through TDF and the Wendy Wasserstein Project (also known as Open Doors) our students have access to Broadway productions and exclusive backstage access with performers. It’s been two decades since we brought our first cohort of All Hallows students to a Broadway show accompanied by our esteemed mentor and award-winning stage director Scott Ellis. In recognition of his dedicated service to the school, Scott was rightfully bestowed the Edmund Rice Service Award.

The All Hallows Media Arts program is a cornerstone of our integrated technology curriculum. Led by Mr. Cabán, who brings over 30 years of video production experience, we offer students a hands-on, results-driven experience that emphasizes media literacy, time management, and both critical and creative thinking skills in a dynamic production environment where ideas are shared, and common goals are achieved.
We’re committed to taking our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) program to new heights through video production and live-streaming. Our students will gain essential skills, transforming computers and mobile devices into tools for change and shifting our students from passive content consumers to active content creators.
I have been part of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of New York for over a decade. I have coached countless sports across various levels and led another high school program to championships in the GCHSAA, and I am excited to do the same for All Hallows.
The athletic program’s mission is to see to it that all individuals associated with All Hallows Athletics realize their fullest potential, have a positive effect on society and have a lifelong desire to learn through participation in athletics. As a program, we will undoubtedly challenge our student-athletes physically so that they can perform at their best but we will also challenge their mental fortitude so that they may be equipped to deal with the pressures of life.
I am aware of the rich traditions and countless accolades that All Hallows Athletics has achieved during its long history. It is my goal, with your help, to build on those achievements and add to those championship banners in our gymnasium. GO GAELS!
