TRANSFORMING SCHOOLS
Little Leaders: Promotes leadership and innovation in students to solve problems through programming.
Teacher Innovation: Implementation of new educational strategies through fun and experimentation, with a focus on developing 21st century skills.
Chess: A Game of Strategy: Designed to build problem solving skills and good decision making in participating students.
Improving Strategic Leadership Skills: Training of directors focused on implementation of Strategic Action Plans aimed at institutional, school and teacher training improvement.
The importance of delegating “ The training on strategic corporate management taught me that the director must delegate responsibilities to the teachers, trust them and work as a team so that the school can provide a quality education to all. I found out how important it is for the leader to say “let’s do it" and support the teachers at all times.” Zorayda Núñez, participant in the strategic corporate management workshop and Director of the Divino Niño Jesús School. I am my father’s teacher! Marcos Urreola is twelve years old and is in the fifth grade at Los Guarumos School. Having an XO has helped him immensely in his classes and it has also improved his relationship with his parents. Marcos was a child who did not like to read. However, with access to an XO Laptop, he has improved his reading levels using the construction memory game and the storybook database. Marcos has taught his parents how to use the computer. He now shares with them what he learns in his Spanish and Mathematics classes, including stories, sentences and math operations including addition, subtraction, and multiplication. 14
