Iget a lot of pitches from publicists, and I cannot open all of them, especially when they come from an unfamiliar source. Still among the hundreds of emails I receive each day, sometimes something random jumps out at me. So it was with the subject line for a new children’s’ book devoted to advocating for the trades. I love the trades. I’m a high school dropout (because you have to join ballet companies when you are a teen). While working in the theme park and museum industry I met many successful people who hadn’t gone to college, and also people whose college degrees were in tangential fields to their careers. Finding your work life, now more than ever, takes looking at it from many angles. College is an important path for many, but it’s not the only—or even best-- path to success, either from a financial or satisfaction standpoint. College is also not just about getting a job. Example: a music degree can lead to many paths. So can an engineering degree. I’ve personally had an unorthodox career path so from experience I’m a fan of the roads less traveled. I know a lot of people in this industry who can say the same.
This is the long way of explaining that I opened that email thinking I would be interested in this book and might even want to take up the offer of an interview with the author. I was getting way, way ahead of myself as it turns out, not expecting on any planet that the book would turn out to be called “What Does Your Daddy Do?”
My personal experience caused me to believe that the gender gap in AV was mostly a matter of catching up. That we were long past the point of talking to children about work as a Daddy’s world. .
It may well be a widespread belief that work is not a gendered thing, and this book was just taking up a narrow viewpoint. But it seems children can still get the wrong impression on the breadth of their options. Ironically, this book seeks to broaden horizons and also constrains them; that made me think about the mixed messages that can still be out there for girls and women. Because I’m a writer I think words matter (maybe more than they do). Life brings enough natural limits that we will discover, accept, or overcome for ourselves in due course. So I just ask myself, what careless limits am I helping to impose on others?
This is clearly a sincere book from an author who self-describes his passion for working with his hands—something that he says saved his life and allowed him to have the live he loves. A father of two, he’s made a big investment in making the younger generation aware of all the career options they have in addition to college and to encourage them to follow their own path in life.
I did ask the author why the unhelpful title? He said that this was a first in the series and there would be a “What Does Your Mommy Do?” book in the next couple of years. He explained the book was based on his son’s experience being asked what his daddy did (he’s an electrician). I understood the framing was personal to him and at the same time, I wondered whether there’s more we can do with words to err on the side of inclusion and reduce old-fashioned language and assumptions. More importantly, beyond parsing language, it’s the action that counts. Thanks to all of you who advocate in our industry for inclusion, both those helping to create the opportunities and those seizing them.

CASE STUDY / CONFERENCING AND COLLABORATION
Triovest is a fully integrated commercial real estate advisory and capital firm. With eight corporate offices across Canada and a team of almost 600 people, Triovest manages 430 properties across the country equating to 41 million square feet.
Recently, the company completed its own Triovest River Landing East Tower office building in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The 13-story, 180,000-square foot East Tower has an AV system design that allow clients to seamlessly connect and present using their own devices within multiple custom-designed meeting rooms. One of the most unique aspects of the project was the need for flexibility within the spaces. This meant accommodating people and their preferred laptops and devices.
“We designed the space so tenants could bring their own devices and use the software they had on those computers for video confer ences, while integrating with all the equipment located in the rooms,” shared Scott Muhl beier, CEO for Calgary-based systems integrator Teatrx, Inc.
operations to IT and interior designers and contractors. The rooms incorporate intuitive technology so people can walk in with a laptop and connect. Each room was automated with a custom-designed user interface specifically designed for the Triovest rooms, making pre sentation, videoconferencing, and teleconfer encing activities easy to navigate.
The Teatrx team incorporated a Bose solu tion consisting of the EdgeMax loudspeakers, ControlSpace digital signal processors, Power Share power amplifier as well as the Control Space EX-UH USB to Dante under-table box within the meeting spaces. For the large execu tive meeting room, just five loudspeakers were needed to cover the entire room. Muhlbeier also recognized the importance of the Bose focus on supporting popular soft codex options for video conferencing and cloud adoption. Integrating with third-party microphones was key for far-end participants, as was the Bose DSP and PowerShare amplifiers.
“We really liked the footprint of the Pow erShare amps. We also liked the cost and that we could easily integrate it into the whole solu tion,” states Muhlbeier, who used a centralized compact rack design.
For more case studies, visit svconline.com/the-wire.
Teatrx collaborated with all the stakeholders, from development and
The room technology is both readily avail able yet designed with unobtrusive undertable boxes and accessible through a variety of retractables, including USB, HDMI, and Ethernet connectors. Teatrx incorporated Mini DisplayPort and USB-C; if users need to convert from an HDMI signal to one of these ports, they can use one of the in room adaptors — eliminating the need for people to carry contingency adaptors with them. The USB cable is also retractable, keeping the tabletop real estate clear for collaboration. The con nector variety allows users to connect quickly and share content, but also charge mobile devices or laptops without hunting for outlets, dongles, or jockeying for priority. There are no complicated steps to resetting the room equipment or logging out.
“Bose had the sales rep and the pre-sales engineer both on site to help us and make sure we commissioned the system properly. I think that that’s the way that the world should be. I think customer service has been forgotten in some industries and the client was impressed Bose came out to the project site.” from the wire

and bullhorns. For surveying and precise topographical data gathering it can carry a Riegle large laser and a high-resolution cam era. The motor arms can be folded inward to fit in tight places for ground transport and quickly spread outward and ready for flight. A payload of just over 40lbs. can be flown for ten minutes at speeds up to 37mph. Operat ing in the 2.4GHz band, the system can trans mit for control as far as half a mile. This can serve to get heavy loads over road washouts and other obstacles. For increased reliabil ity, two separate frequencies can be used for control simultaneously. The geofence capa bility keeps the craft within the desired area and interchangeable battery packs allow it to return to the air quickly with fresh power after landing.
For those who like to plan a flight and then let the drone do its thing, the Skydio 2+ can make autonomous flights with ease while tracking moving objects or flying to a spe cific destination. While flying manually, the user can rely on the vehicle to sense and avoid obstructions both on the ground and in the air. Its two collapsible omnidirectional antennas can operate in the 5GHz band at a range of nearly four miles, shooting 4K/60 video and
12MP stills for up to 27 minutes. The camera has such dynamic range that its 20mm lens can see into shadows and bright sky with no trouble. The onboard micro-SD storage can handle up to 256GB for plenty of images and video while manual photo controls allow pre cise exposure and interval settings. The oper ator can use the joystick controller, hands-free Skydio 2+ Beacon or, for short distances, an iOS or Android phone.
The Walkera T210 drone features the new WK-V8 intelligent voice controller that allows realization of intelligent voice somato sensory control. The vehicle’s flight attitude will closely follow the user’s hand actions and voice commands transmitted through a sin gle-hand controller. Bucking interference and communicating on 4G signals, the T210 can range up to nearly two miles and fly for up to 31 minutes. The new T210 app presents a sim ple interface that can appear on mobile devices connecting on WiFi. The system makes possi ble time lapse photography through 4K shoot ing and H.264 encoding. Video is smooth with the 85-degree ultra-low distortion wide-angle lens. The guidance functions enable the drone to fly circles around a moving object that it is accompanying, and it can fly to waypoints and
demonstrate intelligent return. After its GPS positioning has been initialized, the T210 can be launched by simply tossing it into the air as it takes over and smoothly flies away.
A hexacopter that retracts its landing gear to allow 360-degree panning with no obstruc tion is only as far away as the nearest Yuneec H520 drone. It also features an integrated 7in. touch screen on the controller, 3-axis gimbal, hot-swappable cameras, remote cam era settings, nearly 2-mile range, and 5-rotor failsafe operation. The smoothness of its multi-rotor flight enables the vehicle to use long focal length lenses so that the craft can get its 4K/2K/HD video or 20MP still images at safer distances from the photo target. The H520E/520 Hexacopter and the ST16S/E remote control communicate directly, so there is no involuntary data transfer to manufac turer servers. Team mode lets two operators share control so that one can concentrate on flying the vehicle while the other handles photography and video. Yuneec DataPilotTM software system enables users to efficiently and consistently create orthomaps, 3D scans, or crop data imagery, and flight plans can be transferred to the vehicle via email, thumb drive, or micro-SD card.

KILLER INFLUENCE
Kenny Kaiser sets the technical tone on stage and in the studio

On The Killers’ Imploding The Mirage stadium tour, front of house engineer Kenny Kaiser leaned into the GSL PA system from d&b audiotechnik’s flagship SL-Series. At roughly the same time, his Dolby Atmos music production facility— co-founded with Sammy Hagar and Forrest Lawrence—opened in the Bay Area with Focusrite components and Martin monitors.
For Imploding the Mirage, the GSL system was provided and supported on tour by Capi tal Sound, now part of Solotech UK Group. As long-standing clients of Capital, the band’s sound team was able to draw on the company’s continuing investment in d&b systems to spec ify an extensive GSL/KSL setup for this major tour.
“The first time I used the SL Series was at a festival in Memphis,” says Kaiser, who works closely with monitor engineer Marty Beath on all aspects of the band’s touring sound spec. “We just turned up and used it, and I was floored – it was awesome.”
Planning ahead, the pair worked with Solo tech to finalize the system design for The Killers’ 2022 stadium tour. That design has main hangs of 16 x GSL8 and 4 x GSL12 cabinets left and right, plus 10 flown SL-SUBs per side and 14 x GSL8 and 2 x GSL12 left and right for side arrays. On the ground are SL-GSUBs, stacked six-wide and two-high, their arrangement of 21” speakers extending the system’s characteristic cardioid pattern control down to 30Hz. “Low end is always an issue in stadiums,” says Kaiser, “but the con trol here with the flown subs and the G-SUBs, it’s just great. I’ve been impressed by the evenness of the coverage,” says Kaiser. “Compared with pre vious d&b systems I’ve used, [the GSL] sound is smoother, more uniform.”
For delays, the smaller KSL8 is deployed in hangs of 16 cabinets per side. All arrays are flown in compression mode, but smaller KSL8 arrays can be rigged from roof structures where needed, in tension mode to save weight. “With the SL-Series, d&b seem to have nailed the concept of quick rigging,” says Solotech’s Robin Conway.
SVCONLINE.COM | DECEMBER 2022 | SVC 23
“Speed of deployment is a huge factor—it’s so safe to fly, especially in compression mode.”
“The team arrives on site about 3pm, and it’s always up, checked and verified in three hours,” Kaiser adds “In terms of tourability, I’d give it ten out of ten—honestly.”
Kaiser and Conway both confirm that setup and optimization with d&b’s ArrayProcessing software is straightforward. Conway says, “It’s a powerful system that does throw a long way. And with ArrayProcessing, that takes care of the frequency response front-to-back. It means the system tech can focus on the finer details and how the arrays interact with each other.”
As with all the SL-Series, the GSL employs a combination of cardioid techniques which result in the rejection of energy to the rear, meaning a more comfortable working environ ment onstage – as well as lower off-site sound emissions. Kaiser comments, “The back end is quiet and it’s really clean on stage, which makes life easier for everyone. Marty can get his mix out without fighting, so everyone’s happy. And when everyone else is happy, I’m happy!”
As if he were not busy enough with an international stadium tour, this summer Kaiser co-debuted Work ing Title Recording Studios in San Mateo, CA, a new breed of music pro duction facility and one of only a handful of Dolby Atmos-certified studios in the Bay
Area. Kaiser’s partners in the venture are Sammy Hagar, and his associate Forrest Lawrence, a noted mixer and system technician.
Kaiser says mixing in the immersive, three-dimensional Atmos environment is the next step for music across applications for music, commercial, and corporate produc tion work. “Since the pandemic lockdown, everyone is looking for a new experience,” he says. “It’s going to be here for a very long time.” As well as his acclaimed mixing skills, Kaiser also brought some other things to the venture — key components from his inven tory of Focusrite Red and Focusrite RedNet products. These included the Focusrite Red 16Line 64-In/64-Out Thunderbolt 3 and Pro Tools | H compatible audio interface and Focusrite RedNet MP8R eight-channel mic pre. He also added his unusual but effective studio-monitoring choice: a full Atmos 7.1.4 array including C8.1T overhead speakers, CDD8 surround speakers, and CDD10 main speakers, all from Martin Audio and well matched with the Dolby Atmos SPL and EQcurve specifications.
The Dante network and Focusrite products completely cover the facility’s two control rooms and four tracking/recording spaces. “I was talking to Forrest, and I said we can run one mic line on Mogami XLR cabling for $180, or we can get 128 channels over a
thousand feet of Cat 5 cable for a fraction of that,” recalls Kaiser. “And we don’t have to be punching so many holes in walls.”
Kaiser says the Focusrite Red 16Line units have become the studio’s go-to con verters and act as the I/O between mic preamps and the studio’s Pro Tools systems as well as the main control room’s SSL Sigma console. The Focusrite MP8R moves around the facility in its own rack as needed. “We have that as a floating mic pre that we use in four recording rooms — two regular live rooms, a loading dock room which we also use to track in, and a front room that we use for either guitars or if we have some body that has a small project coming in,” he explains. “I’m able to patch whatever I want to patch and it’s all on one screen,” he says. Combine that with what Atmos can do with music — we’ve had about 15 demos with artists and record-label people, and we’ve seen two people actually cry when they heard it — and you literally get goosebumps hearing it. It’s that amazing. And Focusrite lets us do that.”
“To get the infrastructure going with a tra ditional analogue way of thinking, it would have been three times as expensive. Just being able to have these units and not have to worry about conversions – just plug in a Cat 5 cable and get to work – there’s so much money and time saved.”

ELEVATED EXEC BRIEFING ROOM
Boston’s AVH Technology Partners tackled a new Executive Briefing Center (EBC) in the corporate headquarters of a major New England-based software developer. The goal for the center was to stage compelling presentations for inves tors, informative daily briefs for staff, and engaging training sessions for end-users. To that end, the EBC is a vibrant space that not only fulfills the needs of the client today but also meets the collaboration demands of the future.
“The client is very creative and wanted to push the envelope in every thing,” notes Steve Grace, AVH President. “Featuring a large LED video screen, spatial audio and theatrical lighting, the EBC can synchronize video content with acoustic and lighting effects. This is a space with capabilities seldom found in corporate environments.”
The space includes a lobby, meeting rooms and boardrooms—all designed to make an impression. The EBC is where potential clients— typically executives and decision makers for large corporations--are
brought to discuss contracts worth millions of dollars. The technical impressiveness is particularly important as the contracts are for com plex software development and the capabilities of the EBC could help mean the difference in securing a contract.
When AVH began the search for equipment that could deliver what the client wanted to achieve in the EBC, they turned to the Analog Way Aquilon C, says AVH Vice President Collin Hogan, who designed the system. “We needed seamless switching, complex videowall pro cessing, Dante audio, 12G SDI, and true 4K HDR 4:4:4. Aquilon C offered everything--and in one box, which simplified our schematics tremendously.”
Part of Analog Way’s LivePremier family of products, Aquilon C is a fully modular and scalable 4K/8K multiscreen presentation system and videowall processor. In the EBC, a 16 x 12 Aquilon C drives an approxi mately 12 x 7-foot 0.9 mm Planar LED video screen that features an easyto-use, browser-based Crestron control system. Mike Valadao of Devine Technology Partners in Canton, Massachusetts integrated and installed the Aquilon for AVH. Aquilon can seamlessly switch, scale and window to any output creating multiple layers of content and PIPs on the main screen and other displays. At the same time, the latency from input to output is low enough to support videoconferencing. In the boardrooms, Cisco speaker bars are combined with Lightware matrix switchers. This combination provides extra inputs and flexibility but keeps the standard Cisco control interface the client is accustomed to in their facility.
Overall AVH Project Manager Ed Hondzinski points out that the

The client wanted two cameras from the same perspective, but at different heights. AVH worked with the architect to design a custom doorway that supports an upright and inverted camera. The lenses were positioned at seated and standing eye heights. The front section of the desk (below left) is removable to provide the option for a more casual open layout. There are hidden disconnect points inside the wall cabinet to ensure aesthetics are maintained when removed.
AND COLLABORATION
EBC is currently using just a small portion of the system’s capabilities. But there are big plans for what’s to come.
“This was our first project which required the ability to integrate with Unreal Engine and a full spatial audio system,” reports Hogan. “Analog Way has crazy capabilities, so it’s not a stretch for them.” The spatial surround system is meant to make the space more impactful, engaging and impressive. It differs from typical surround sound in that can be manipulated in real time. The client is also developing various media with combina tions of video, surround audio, and lighting. These clips may be triggered automatically as someone enters the room, turns on a light switch or makes a touchpanel selection, or it can be triggered from a control room. An example would be, as people enter the space a sound wooshes around them and pulls their attention toward company logo illumi nated on the floor and then to the emerging video wall content.
One future plan is to experiment with Unreal Engine, utilizing real time telemetry data from PTZ cameras to manipulate sound and lighting. An example of this would a presenter walking around the room. As the camera follows them, the presentation audio and illumination would track as well. The camera’s auto-tracking ability could also be engaged to further automate this effect.
System control can be performed in an on-site control room with a touch
panel and preview monitors or in the EBC itself with a desk and simple, automated GUI, which makes operation “very approachable for the day-today user,” notes Hogan. “Analog Way has really come into its own in the last decade and is outclassing others in the same space, especially in regard to LED video,” says Grace. “The company has made huge strides.”
“Aquilon jumped off the page to us,” adds Hogan. “The cost of Aqui lon was similar to other processors but a mile ahead in features and performance.”
Challenges in the space were many. Among them, the ceiling was made of 2” thick felt panels in a herringbone pattern. “We needed to figure out a way to microphone the audience without penetrating the panels and not interfere with the aesthetic too much,“ Hogan explains.
“Biamp TCM-1’s fit in the 4” gaps between the panels and all but disap peared in the ceiling. This solution satisfied the architect aesthetically, but also provided great audio coverage.” The team encountered similar challenges with the speaker and camera mounting (see drawing).
Supply chain issues persist in all industries in the post-COVID world, and AVH designed the EBC at a time when everyone was unsure of equipment availability. “The whole project was based around a product that had to be built in and delivered from Europe, but Analog Way saved the day by providing us with a spare system of theirs in the US that got the EBC up and running until the unit we ordered arrives,” says Grace.
“The client has told us how happy they are with the EBC and with how beautiful the LED video screen looks with its windows, transitions and navigation,” Hondzinski says. “They’re very proud of the space.”

AERO COLLABORATION
To better prepare students for the real-world challenges of communication and control of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), California Polytechnic State University deployed a state-of-the-art communication system at their Autonomous Flight Laboratory (AFL).
The intent of this program is for students to get hands-on, ears-on experience using industry-standard communications infrastructure, explains Associate Professor, Dr. Paulo Iscold. The focus is to teach aerospace engineering students how to operate communication systems and work as a team efficiently and productively in a ground control station.
Learning how to foster fluent communications between the ground and autonomous aircraft (with onboard standby pilot) is mission criti cal. “Our ground station is one of the most important parts of this labo ratory for introducing students to how to talk on intercoms. That’s why we selected Clear-Com,” Iscold said. Moreover, because Clear-Com is the preferred system by the top, large-scale UAS programs, it’s a natural choice for a training environment. “With our Clear-Com system, stu dents aren’t just talking to the aircraft, they’re talking to others inside the control room, learning to work collectively on the same problems.”
Aerospace engineering students accrue a wealth of technical knowl edge during their studies. Still, the finer points of communication sys
tem design and operational protocols – Simplex vs. Duplex, Partyline vs. Point-to-Point communications, and even general comms discipline – aren’t typically taught in similar programs.
“The analogy I use is that we teach students how to be musicians, but never let them touch the instrument,” Iscold says. Here, the aim is to teach students to use their ‘instrument’ instinctively by not only rehearsing for future ‘performances’ using flight simulators, but essen tially putting them ‘on stage’ with manned airplanes. “With simula tions, we can pause, take our headsets off, and ask, ‘How can we improve? How can we be more efficient?’ With airplanes, there’s no pause button. It’s for real.”
The aim is to provide practical experience using the tools graduates will encounter in real-world operational environments. They’ll learn to brief test pilots and view and analyze data in real-time; these are soft skills Iscold says aerospace engineers “rarely learn in school and instead have to develop during their professional lives.”
Dr. Iscold would know. While studying at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil, Iscold designed and built his first airplane, the CEA-308, which set four world records with the International Federa tion of Aeronautics as of 2010. That was followed by designing and con structing two more record-setting race planes, the CEA-309 Mehari and the CEA-311 Anequim. Since 2008, Iscold has also participated in Red

Bull’s Air Race Championship. Most recently, he served as Team Tacti cian for the US-based ‘Team Chambliss,’ where he developed solutions and procedures that have become the standard to beat in the competi tion. In short, he lives and breathes aviation.
In designing Cal Poly’s system, Iscold visited multiple ground sta tions in Southern California, working closely with Clear-Com rep resentatives to choose components and implement the system. Built from the ground up during Summer 2022, the ground station portion of the AFL features a Clear-Com system comprised of an Eclipse HX matrix intercom system frame (with an E-IPA high-density IP interface card), four Iris Panels, multi ple CC-400 headsets, and LQ Series IP Inter faces for connectivity.
Additionally, the lab will incorporate ClearCom’s Agent-IC Mobile App and Station-IC Virtual Desktop Client to provide students with remote connectivity. Given that the program serves 120 students annually, and only ten students can occupy the lab simul taneously, remote connectivity is a powerful and necessary asset. While students rotate in and out of the lab, the capabilities provided by Agent-IC and Station-IC allow those not physically present to listen, learn, and under stand the language and flow of proper com munication by way of a “fly-on-the-wall” perspective.
“Our ground station looks like what you’d see in NASA or Space X rocket launches,” Iscold said, “with engineers sitting in front of displays as data rolls down their screens, communicating with each other, the flight director, and air traffic control. We need to teach students how to handle all that com munication simultaneously, so the flexibil ity Clear-Com provides was a defining factor for us.”
The integration of an HCI license on the matrix makes the system even more sophis ticated than many actual ‘working’ stations. “We’re using one intercom on multiple fre quencies and changing frequencies on all the other control stations. That flexibility – and the ability to integrate Clear-Com with other components in the ground station – was very important to us.”
Ultimately, Iscold believes there are other benefits to Cal Poly’s adoption of ClearCom as a teaching tool. Namely, proving the
CONFERENCING AND COLLABORATION
value of deploying similar, real-world solutions to other educational institutions. “If we’re not exposing students to the reality of the work, we’re not doing a good job. Communicating like this requires discipline and methods that aren’t necessarily natural for anyone.”
Dr. Iscold sums up: “They need to learn the work, and to fail; not catastrophically, but in a protected environment. We believe that if our students have these skills when they graduate, they can hit the ground running.”

The NF-2S features simultaneous 2-way conversation capability and noise cancellation circuitry, and supports the use of headsets, making it ideal for use in a wide range of locations. The system also provides smooth conversation with natural sound quality covering a wide voice band.
SENNHEISER TEAMCONNECT INTELLIGENT SPEAKER
Audio conferencing for groups of up to ten has moved up to a new level with Sennheiser’s Team Connect Intelligent Speaker, set for Microsoft Teams Rooms. No need for laptops or tablets, as the speaker can identify all voices and even transcribe the meeting automatically. Microsoft Cortana voice intelligence responds to voice commands for operation of its seven beamforming microphones. This model is Microsoft Teams Certified and includes a 3-meter cable. With its 200HZ-14kHz (±6dB) frequency response, the omni-directional speaker radiates perfectly natural sounding voices.
SONY SRG-X40UH
Built for almost any collaborative or conferencing space, the user-friendly, remotely controlled SRG-X40UH matches high-quality images with simple installation. The sensitive 1/2.5-type Exmor R CMOS image sensor captures highquality 4K images with very little noise, even in dimly lit environments. Day/Night function automatically switches between Day mode (full color) and Night mode (black & white). Users can create better FHD images, thanks to overs ampling from the 4K sensor. The 40x zoom in FHD or 30x in 4K gives you crisp close-up shots, thanks to Clear Image Zoom technology. Meanwhile, a horizontal viewing angle of approximately 70 ° supports bigger and wider spaces. A pan angle up to 170 ° of rotation covers a bigger space with fewer cameras. The camera can be desk or ceiling mounted. Simple UVC or HDMI connections support easy integration; USB Video Class (UVC) provides smooth video communication. PoE+ support and VISCA/VISCA over IP control command support remote operation and power through a single LAN cable.

BROADFIELD DISTRIBUTING
Broadfield Distributing is a family owned and operated distributor that has been servicing thousands of resellers in the pro video marketplace for the past 30 years. We have grown with the changes in the indus try, and now we are pleased to offer hardware and software systems from more than 40 manufacturers and thousands of products in stock, ready to ship, from our large distribution center in Long Island, NY and our brand new location in West LA, California.
BDIWEST OPENS TO BETTER SERVICE WEST COAST DEALERS
Broadfield is growing. In October, 2022 Broadfield opened a new CA distribution center to support our West Coast dealers better by strategically placing the products they need at BDI West. We will immediately focus on how we can better support the vibrant production community with storage solutions from SanDisk Profes sional, LaCie and more; camera solutions from RED Digital Cinema, Panasonic and a full selection of PTZs and of course the live production and streaming products that our dealers and integrators demand.
WE UNDERSTAND THE PRODUCTS WE SELL.
Our expertise in this area is undisputed. No other distributor has the product knowledge or technical support that we do. When you buy from Broadfield, you get to leverage our product expertise. This makes you a better supplier to your customers and helps you sell more products and grow your business.
WE UNDERSTAND THE MARKETPLACE.
As our industry grows and matures, there are more and more choices for you to make. Not only can we tell you about what products are available today, our strong partnerships with our vendors give us a peek into the future. We can help you plan your marketing and sales promotions in advance, allowing you to grow your business and be more profitable.
VIDEO PRODUCTION AND EDITING IS OUR ONLY BUSINESS.
We don’t treat our products as SKU numbers or the flavor of the month. Our number one goal is to see the marketplace grow while protecting your profit margins. You won’t find us dumping products into the chan nel to offset poor sales in other product segments.
WE HAVE THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE INDUSTRY.
We have the people and systems in place to make sure that you always look your best to your customers. Let’s face it—in business, things don’t always go as planned. When this happens, you can count on Broadfield to do everything possible to help you make and keep the sale.

Value added services are often overlooked when choosing a distributor. Most dealers and system integrators see their distributor as a mere ordering portal where stock or price are the primary consideration. Why not sign on with a distributor who estab lishes a relationship designed to mutually benefit both parties? Why not create a rela tionship that’s akin to the one you’ve estab lished with your own customers? Since 1992, TecNec Distributing has delivered all of this and more.
ONLY AVAILABLE FROM TECNEC
TecNec carries many exclusive brands. Why does it matter? We are able to control the sales channel on your behalf enforcing MAP policies and sales protection on registered bids. This ensures you the highest possible margins and no undercutting. We are here to be your partner in business!

Whether it’s SMPTE Camera Cables for a stadium integration or elegant panel work for a Fortune 100 boardroom, we’re your complete source. Take advantage of our free panel builder app to create all your metalwork needs.
