A very warm welcome to Decanter’s first-ever Singapore Fine Wine Encounter.
We are thrilled to bring the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter back to Asia after a five-year hiatus. The Asian market holds immense importance in the global wine landscape, and we are especially excited to share this exceptional tasting experience with Singapore’s sophisticated and knowledgeable wine community for the first time.
Over sixty outstanding wineries from around the world are presenting their wines in the Grand Tasting alongside three sensational masterclasses and one unique opportunity to taste Gold, Platinum and Best in Show winning wines from the Decanter World Wine Awards.
We therefore hope, and trust, that you will be inspired and delighted by the wines on show today and take this unique opportunity to meet the people behind each wine and learn more about the regions.
As always, we would like to thank each and every producer for raiding their cellars and for flying in to present their wines in person. We would also like to thank our loyal sponsor, Riedel Wine Glass Company, for their valued support in supplying this event with the perfect glass for the occasion.
We hope you will share your favourite moments and photos from this weekend by taking part in our X and Instagram competition. This will give you the chance to win a pair of tickets to our next ASIA event in 2025. We look forward to seeing your photos from this weekend; please tag @Decanter using #DecanterFWE

THE DWWA JUDGING PROCESS
97-100 POINTS
97-100 POINTS
3
BEST IN SHOW
The competition culminates in a final tasting of Platinum winners by the Co-Chairs where the ultimate accolade of ‘Best in Show’ is given to the finest wines of DWWA.
PLATINUM
An outstanding and memorable wine within its category.
95-96 POINTS 90-94 POINTS
A high-quality wine of excitement and personality within its category.
86-89 POINTS
A well-made, sound and satisfying wine within its category.
2 STAGE 1
In the second round of judging, a panel consisting of Co-Chairs and Regional Chairs re-tastes all of the Gold winners to guarantee consistent quality, potentially downgrading some to Silver and awarding Platinum medals to the best wines.
GOLD, SILVER & BRONZE MEDALS
In the first round of judging, Regional Chairs oversee their respective panels, settle any score discrepancies and re-taste all Silver and Gold winners for consistency.
Co-Chairs then re-taste all wines scoring 94 and abovefor final endorsement. Silver winners are therefore tasted at least twice, but up to three times, and Gold winners three times. This rigorous process ensures that each wine is reviewed thoroughly.
A competition is only as good as its judges, and the Decanter World Wine Awards prides itself on recruiting the world’s greatest wine palates, including merchants, sommeliers, critics, wine writers, educators, Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers.
We recruit judges who have an intimate knowledge of a specific region, which we believe is crucial in order to recognise typicity and quality. All wines are tasted blind as part of our unique and specialised judging process.
CATEGORISATION FOR JUDGING
The success of Decanter World Wine Awards rests on its unique judging process with wines evaluated on a regional basis in carefully organised flights by country, region, colour, grape, style, vintage and price band to ensure wines are judged against their peers.
PRICE BAND A: up to £14.99 (value) PRICE BAND B: £15 to £24.99 PRICE BAND C: £25 to £49.99
BAND D: £50 to £99.99
BAND E: £100+

Introducing the new Riedel Veloce collection Looks and feels handmade!
RIEDEL VELOCE is a new, impressive development based on state-of-the-art technology The glass is specially developed at Riedel's Weiden factory and enables us to draw stems that are the equal of those made by hand by a master glassmaker.
The base, with a diameter of 100 mm, is a new standard for large glass shapes and is the maximum that can be produced by machine. With the weight considerably reduced, the perfect balance and feel suggests a handmade glass.
Maximilian Riedel selected the Italian name "Veloce", meaning "fast", in reference to the modern machine technology that makes it possible to bring a glass that is handmade, in so many aspects, onto the machine and produce it quickly and in large quantities.
RIEDEL VELOCE is the perfect glass for wine connoisseurs, a modern glass with impressive balance and feel
