The theme of the 2019 NAB Show is “Your story starts here.”

That’s a reminder that all of us who work in and around radio and new audio platforms ultimately are storytellers. We don’t have to work at a microphone to fit that description. The people who design, build, maintain, program, sell, manage, underwrite or promote radio are all helping to tell stories, whether that’s through words or music, news or entertainment.

The products in this guide are building blocks of storytelling in one way or another. The annual guide is a useful and compact reference intended for your pocket, purse or briefcase as you walk the exhibit floor.

This supplement to Radio World includes Product Previews from industry suppliers about technologies they will introduce or highlight in Las Vegas.

A pull-out map of the Radio/Audio area of the Las Vegas Convention Center is included at the center of this supplement.

Iyo, Your I/O Solution for AoIP AudioScience’s Iyo Dante is a 1RU cost-effective family of microphone/line Dante audio-over-IP (AoIP) interfaces aimed for your Audio I/O applications.

AudioScience has created 21 1RU rack-mount models providing 8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 16.0, 0.16, 32.0, 0.32 balanced analog audio inputs and outputs on 3.81mm terminal blocks, with 25 pin D and RJ45 StudioHub termination due in 3rd quarter of 2019. Each input accommodates microphone through line level signals with an input level range of -60 to +24dBu and +48V phantom power is individually switchable. Output gain level is electronically balanced with configurable levels of up to +24dBu. Whether you need an audio card or a network device, the Iyo box will fit your needs.

Comrex to Officially Debut New IP Audio Codecs, ACCESS NX Rack and ACCESS MultiRack at NAB 2019 At NAB 2019, Comrex will be debuting ACCESS NX Rack and ACCESS MultiRack, and will be showcasing EarShot IFB, Opal, ACCESS NX, and more.

ACCESS NX Rack incorporates almost 15 years of Comrex’s IP broadcasting experience and is a reinvented version of Comrex’s ACCESS rackmount codec. It features completely redesigned hardware, allowing for AES67, AES3 or analog audio I/O. NX Rack can connect to Wi-Fi and 4G modems, and supports a wide range of connection protocols and audio encoders. It’s driven via a new HTML5-based web user interface.

ACCESS NX Rack is compatible with all Comrex IP audio codecs and the Comrex FieldTap smartphone app.

For users who need to run multiple IP codecs at once, Comrex has created ACCESS MultiRack. ACCESS MultiRack is equivalent to five codecs, contained within a sleek 1RU chassis. ACCESS MultiRack is compatible with the entire family of Comrex IP audio codecs as well as the Comrex FieldTap smartphone app. ACCESS MultiRack features AES67-compatible I/O on all five codecs, along with AES3 and analog I/O on the first codec.

Now available for purchase, EarShot IFB is a hardware-based system that delivers live audio feeds to callers. EarShot IFB is designed to provide telephone-based live studio program and IFB audio to field-based remote broadcasts, like live sports broadcasts. Up to 30 callers can dial in and listen to the audio feeds - this makes it possible to replace up to 30 POTS lines with one simple box.

Opal transmits and receives audio by “waking up” the high-fidelity audio coding engine built into modern web browsers.

SportsCaster Simplifies Play-By-Play!

For the 2019 NAB, Henry Engineering introduces SportsCaster, a new product that simplifies the play-by-play audio of sporting event broadcasts and webcasts.

SportsCaster is the “missing link” that manages all aspects of playby-play audio. It mixes the announcers’ mics, controls and distributes headphone audio for announcers, producer, and camera operators, and provides an intercom for communication between everyone.

SportsCaster works with Henry Engineering’s Sports Pod announcer stations, and integrates all these audio functions in one easy-to-use unit. SportsCaster has inputs for 3 announcers, a Field Reporter, crowd mic, and other sources. There are dedicated outputs for Air, Field Reporter, and Camera operators. The unit provides comprehensive monitoring and intercom systems, so the producer can easily control everything from one place.

SportsCaster can be installed in a few minutes, eliminating the need for multiple mixers, headphone amps, distribution systems, and complicated wiring.

SportsCaster will be on display at the Broadcaster’s General Store booth at NAB, Booth #C1722 in the Central Hall. SportsCaster is now in stock!

Inovonics Unveils Six New Products at NAB 2019 Inovonics presents a new family of SiteStreamers called the SOFIA SiteStreamer Plus. It is like a super SiteSteamer with more horsepower and features. The compact SOFIA is just ½-rack width. The SOFIA has Analog and AES Digital audio outputs, as well as an AoIP. It allows up to 10 people to listen remotely to the audio stream simultaneously.

At NAB, Inovonics will be launching the first model — SOFIA 568 FM/HD Radio SiteStreamer Plus. It is the first FM/HD Radio monitorreceiver to display AE logos and pictures via a web interface.

Other SOFIA models will be introduced in 2019 to include: FM/RDS, DAB+ and AM. Inovonics is also launching a new line of INOmini Monitor-Receivers.

The current line of INOmini receivers will be phased-out over time to be replaced by the new models. The new receivers offer many new features:

• Larger LCD Display. Better resolution, Flashing Red Alarm message.

• Independently adjustable analog & digital audio outputs.

• Additional measurement metrics added for more information.

• Firmware is field upradeable via USB.
