To banish anxiety from a future completely reshaped by AI, it’s important to create new relevance rather than extending yesterday’s, according to digital analyst, author and visionary Brian Solis. He urged people to allow themselves to be disrupted, and to look at AI not with the limitations of an expert, but with the eyes of a child open to all possibilities.
As part of his ISE 2025 Opening Keynote speech yesterday, Solis suggested setting up a daily exploratory prompting practice to rewire the brain to collaborate with AI, rather than fight against it. “We need a mindset shift to be able to see the future differently, to take AI and let it inspire us to actually think outside of the box and explore the world of the unknown.”
imagine what the future looks like,” said Solis.
“Where AI becomes magical is when you expect the unexpected, where you don’t know what’s on the other side of the prompt, and you keep prompting it until you come up with something that is just incredible.”
Those waiting for someone to tell them what to do with AI are on the wrong side of innovation, he warned. With its consumerisation, AI is the first technology that cannot be put in a “business as usual” box.
“What makes this moment so special is that there’s no playbook for how to integrate AI in our work. You get to
In the subsequent ‘Future Panel Discussion: Visions of tomorrow’ session, Solis was joined by moderator Josephine Watson, managing editor of lifestyle at TechRadar; Sarah Cox, founder and MD, Neutral Human; Fardad Zabetian, co-founder and CEO, Kudo; and digital artist Quayola, as they shared their tech visions and predictions for the world of tomorrow.
Cox described the next decade as one of accelerated communication. “Beyond providing improvements to existing technology, AI will accelerate the speed at which we receive information and personalisation to some would say a scary level, but the digital-first generation will be the first to accept this, which I find exciting.”

driving growth and innovation. Kalmanowicz said: “For corporations to stay at the cutting edge of technology is hard... So in order to supercharge technological innovation big product companies have been looking to shift into software.”
Sachse said it was important to consider “how differentiated is the core value proposition of the product platform? How does it sit in the broader market in a relatively crowded ecosystem?”
Articulating to the right audiences, diversifying product offerings to meet customer needs and the strategic benefits of scale were also highlighted.

While most of the technology issues of smart buildings have now been solved, large corporate occupiers struggle with truly making use of their numerous advantages, according to Dr Matthew Marson, managing director, EMEA Advisory, JLL Technologies. He kicked off the Smart Building Summit yesterday by sharing some insights from his new book, The Smart Building Advantage, Unlocking the value of smart building technologies.

AV providers encouraged organisations to connect, collaborate and commit to a greener future during yesterday’s AVIXA Xchange LIVE session ‘Ask the Experts: Sustainable AV: How sustainability triples your tech bottom line’. Speakers Thomas Serbruyns, VP strategic initiatives & sustainability; Barco; Kelly Bousman, SVP, ESG and sustainability, AVI-SPL; Jon Reeves, founder and managing partner, TAD Associates; Althea Ricketts, vice president, corporate initiatives, Shure; and Kathryn Gaskell, director, eco-design & regulatory, Legrand AV, affirmed there is now high demand for customers to understand a product’s life cycle and environmental impact.
“For a lot of them, the USS Enterprise has landed, but there’s not really anyone in the business that knows how to fly the starship,” explained Marson. “And, even if they did, it’s almost like they didn’t believe the information that the data was delivering, so despite the investments they made, they aren’t trusting the information they are getting.”
Marson urged the corporate world to make a link between the smart building systems they have invested in and the core business processes to make it happen.
“The size of the prize is often grossly underestimated, we have trapped a lot of value within the kit that, with the right answers and matching business processes, can generate a lot of economic value.”
Requesting traceability proof from manufacturers can ensure sustainability measures are met, said Gaskell: “Those transparency documents are giving you solid information. Make sure they are at your disposal.”
Bousman concluded that the industry-wide mission for sustainability is “all about free, competitive collaboration… the importance of a shared purpose and the importance of a purpose to share.”

Franco Zaghini, director of business development, MA Lighting and Laurent Ostojski, senior legal counsel, L-Acoustics, detailed the detrimental effect of counterfeit culture in a talk yesterday on the Live Events Stage.
Ostojski addressed safety concerns and highlighted that “L-Acoustics distributors, integrators and rental companies are facing competitors offering fake products at much lower prices”.
Zaghini also noted issues with software updates and readability: “If a piece of counterfeit fails, the company who supplies the counterfeit also fails,” he said.
Host Stew Hume, editor, TPi Magazine, called for a “rallying cry to solve the problem”, with joint action across industry categories.
Zaghini ended the discussion with optimism: “The market is becoming more mature and refusing more counterfeit products. I believe the market is growing, it’s maturing and there is more hope for the future.”
PPDS has partnered with True Performance to bring mission-critical control to a new range of Pantone colour-certified 4K and 8K Philips dvLED displays, all produced in Europe.
True Performance develops LED technology and processing systems, and the partnership extends PPDS’ offering for high security and highly sensitive mission control environments. Last year, True Performance became the first dvLED provider to be Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated, certifying and ensuring colour accuracy.
Extending PPDS’ portfolio of TAA-compliant, military-grade secure displays, the new Philips True Performance dvLED systems include both panels and controller, with resolutions up to 7680x4320, 240Hz frame rates, advanced greyscale and colour fidelity, plus near-zero latency.
Jeroen Brants, global product director dvLED for PPDS, said: “For this new range we are augmenting the already proven benefits of our Philips Unite LED line up with functionality from True Performance to create a brand new total solution. The production in Europe makes it even more compelling, with our global product managers and technical support based here,
and many of our customers requesting a made in Europe solution and TAA compliance. And, of course, the colour accuracy that can now be achieved makes this ideal for our partners needing that perfect brand representation, for instance with Oracle Red Bull Racing.”

Now you can build affordable live production and broadcast systems with SMPTE-2110 video! Blackmagic Design has a wide range of 2110 IP products, including converters, video monitors, audio monitors and even cameras! You get the perfect solution for integrating SDI and IP based systems. Plus all models conform to the SMPTE ST-2110 standard, including PTP clocks and even NMOS support for routing.
The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters have been designed to integrate SDI equipment into 2110 IP broadcast systems. The rack mount models can be installed in equipment racks right next to the equipment you’re converting. Simply add a Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter to live production switchers, disk recorders, streaming processors, cameras, TVs and more.
Conforms to the SMPTE-2110
Blackmagic 2110 IP products conform to the SMPTE ST-2110 standard for IP video, which specifies the transport, synchronization and description of 10 bit video, audio and ancillary data over managed IP networks for broadcast. Blackmagic 2110 IP products support SMPTE-2110-20 video, SMPTE-2110-21 traffic shaping/ timing, SMPTE-2110-30 audio and SMPTE-2110-40 for ancillary data.
Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters are available in models with RJ-45 connectors for simple Cat6 copper cables or SFP sockets for optical fiber modules and cables.
Using simple Cat6 copper cables means you can build SMPTE-2110 systems at a dramatically lower cost. Plus copper cables can remote power devices such as converters and cameras. There are also models for optical fiber Ethernet.
One of the biggest problems with SMPTE-2110 is needing an IT tech on standby to keep video systems running. Blackmagic 2110 IP converters solve this problem because they can connect point to point, so you don’t need to use a complex Ethernet switch if you don’t want to. That means you get the advantage of SMPTE2110 IP video with simple Ethernet cables, remote power and bidirectional video.
NovaCloud, NovaStar’s management platform for LED service providers, has just received a raft of updates, including more precise status reports, a more user-friendly GUI and a new API that allows it to be extended more easily and used with third-party software and hardware.
Kirk Guo, marketing manager, Europe BU, NovaStar, said: “At first, NovaCloud was just for use with NovaStar products, but now thanks to the API it can be used with many third-party products. Every customer can add secondary elements or add other software or systems via the API.”
There are two key elements to NovaCloud, Vnnox Care and Vnnox Media. About 60% of NovaStar’s global LED users are now using NovaCloud to monitor more than 10 million screens. –
With a rack depth of 276mm from front to rear rack rail, case manufacturer Sinora is bringing its heavyduty injection moulded protection to shorter devices
with the launch of four new short design racks in 2, 3, 4, and 6U variations. The new racks adopt the same impact-resistant X design construction as their bigger siblings.
Also making ISE debuts are two space-saving accessories available across Sinora’s entire range of 2, 3 and 4U racks. Both its mesh-pocket inserts and wireless microphone insert enable users to store up to four handheld transmitters and provide additional storage options in the lid without adding bulk.
Sinora says all three developments are about providing the same robust protection in less space. Michael Murza, sales/business development manager, Sinora, explained: “We developed the new racks especially for customers with shorter equipment, and our new inserts give customers more storage space for smaller items like leads and microphone, in the exactly same footprint as before.”

Sound specialist Sonos is demonstrating its new Arc Ultra home cinema product with Sound Motion technology in Hall 2.
According to Dick Mooijman, VP revenue and strategy, EMEA at Sonos, Arc Ultra is the first product to incorporate audio transducer technology from Dutch company Mayht that was acquired by Sonos in 2022.
“Transducer technology was reinvented from the ground up, where, instead of the classic magnetic cone and rubber
around it, they are now putting bass in a much smaller form factor, meaning less energy consumption, fewer rare earth magnets in there and, as a result, a cleaner sound in place. The first time we have put that in one of our products is Arc Ultra,” Mooijman said.
He added that Arc Ultra is positioned as Sonos’ hero product in the home theatre category and comes with Dolby Atmos 9.1.4 sound quality. – anne morris www.sonos.com
Making its global debut and featuring as the LCR in its demo room in Hall 7, the CRMSQ from Alcons Audio is a modular two-way column loudspeaker intended for use as a vertical array system. The CRMSQ is the latest addition to Alcons’ CRMS cinema reference systems.
Designed to be stacked vertically, the modular scalable column array system can be adapted to meet the needs of different room sizes. It features 12in pro-ribbon MHF drivers with 6.5in woofers with Alcons Active Coil, and delivers constant directivity in the horizontal plane at 80° or 110°. The company says when combined with its symmetrical acoustic design, the patented horizontal constant directivity of the RBN HF drivers offers coherent horizontal pattern control, widening the stereo sweet spot regardless of audience seating.
Tom Back, managing director, Alcons Audio, said: “At ISE we are showing how this technology is integrated in our fixed installation media. It is especially good for larger rooms that need a high capacity, high output, or longer throw because you can take out the effect of acoustics of the floor and the ceiling, so there is greater intelligibility over distance.”

Dana Corey, senior vice president and general manager of global sales at Avocor, said the company is now on a journey to evolve its offerings and access new spaces within the education and enterprise markets.
“We’re not going to new markets, we’re just getting into
different verticals,” Corey said.
Avocor has traditionally focused solely on interactive displays but is now expanding into non-interactive displays with its new K Series.
While Corey conceded that the category of non-interactive displays is large and somewhat crowded, “the pie is so big out there that even if we get a piece of it, which we know we will, it’s still very significant”.
He also noted that the offer of non-interactive products can act as a door opener to its existing interactive products, and vice versa.
Avocor may be a late entrant to the non-interactive market, but it now has the backing of Taiwanbased AUO, which acquired the company in 2024. “They make most of the glass behind all these things, so we’re part of that value chain,” Corey said. – ANNE MORRIS www.avocor.com
On the Live Events Stage in Hall 6, TPiMagazine editor Stew Hume (pictured, right) chatted to Adele’s production manager Paul English about sustainability at the pop star’s record-breaking August 2024 residency in Munich, encompassing concerts and an immersive festival experience. “We sold the ticket with free public transport and in the end, our carbon footprint compared to doing a show in 10 different cities was 41% less by doing it in one place,” said English. More than 730,000 people from 170 countries came to the Munich exhibition grounds to see Adele perform in a purpose-built pop-up arena. “In the timeframe that we had, we pulled off something incredible,” said English. “The massive bonus was that most of the technology we used was off the shelf.”
A multipurpose series of collaboration displays boasting “best-in-class touch performance and value” has been launched by Sharp NEC Display Solutions.
The Sharp LM Series of mid-size interactive displays is designed for small
meeting spaces and interactive signage applications. It features pen-on-paper writing using infrared touch technology, out-of-the-box collaboration, and high brightness 500cd/sqm panels in 43in and 55in sizes.
Daniela Dexheimer, product manager, collaboration technologies, Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe, said: “It has an intuitive home screen launcher with preinstalled apps for whiteboarding and wireless screen sharing. It comes with the latest Android SoC 14, but for users preferring Windows OS we can insert an OPS (Open Pluggable Standard) PC or they can connect a notebook via USB-C.”
Besides being suitable for group learning and higher education focus rooms, the displays can also be used as interactive retail displays, wayfinding systems in shopping centres and to deliver immersive experiences in museums. The LM Series displays will be available from March 2025.

Expanding its CM ecosystem with a raft of global debuts at ISE, British audio console manufacturer Cadac is running two CM-J50 mixing consoles through its new CM-RT12 optical MegaComms network router for the first time. It’s a debut outing too for both the CM-DF64 optical Dante bridge and CM-RT12 router.
Wholly designed and manufactured in Britain, and with a processing capacity of up to 3,072 channels, a single CM-RT12 can connect up to 12 MegaComms units to form a single unified audio system, comprising any combination of CM-J50 consoles, CM-SR stage racks, or CM fibre bridges.
The CM-J50 console’s GUI facilitates routing via the CM-RT12, with settings stored directly to the console’s show file. Cadac says the independent Ethernet network enables dynamic routing, allowing each console to control up to 96 inputs per scene from a pool of 728 inputs, with routing available to 712 outputs.
Clément Farèniaux, export sales manager at Opus, said: “People are still very attached
to induction loop technology, but installation can be complex. We wanted to remove these constraints with a plug-and-play system that both supports induction loop users and futureproofs accessibility with Auracast. It makes it easy for installers to make facilities more accessible.” – kevin emmott www.opus-technologies.fr
James Godbehear, director of marketing and operations, Cadac, said: “This system is both hugely powerful and hugely flexible. With dual connectivity and power, the router can handle over 3,000 channels and users can choose whichever input goes to whichever output dynamically, on a scene-by-scene basis.” – kevin emmott www.cadac-consoles.com

Following the success of his mesmerising Arborescent projection mapping experience on Casa Batlló on 1-2 February, and the presentation of Promenade on the Fira’s South Access Welcome Screen yesterday, digital artist Quayola takes to the stage this afternoon to deliver the ISE Creative Keynote.
Quayola’s work is a testament to the transformative power of AV technology in the creative arts. His keynote will explore the creative journey behind the Casa Batlló projection mapping, a project that seamlessly blends artistic vision with cutting-edge technology to create an immersive experience.
He explained: “My keynote presentation at ISE 2025 will explain the inspirations and methods which shaped Arborescent. For me, the creation process is as significant as the final piece, often serving as a documentation of my journey. Discussing the crucial relationship between the physical and digital worlds in my art, I will share insights from my unique expeditions to capture natural phenomena, which inspire my digital creations. By showcasing examples of my work, both digital and physical, I aim to illustrate the seamless
transition between these realms. Additionally, I will touch on my explorations in sculptures, robotics and other artistic endeavours,
emphasising the importance of technology in enhancing and expanding creative expression.”
Quayola also presented his artwork Promenade on the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via’s South Access Welcome Screen yesterday evening, providing both the citizens of Barcelona and ISE visitors with another chance to witness his extraordinary creative talents in action.
He added: “Promenade is part of this ongoing exploration about observing nature through machines, and somehow trying to experience nature with the strange help of these different pair of eyes. So in different projects there’s different strategies of how I go and make these observations, and I think Promenade was quite a particular experiment, where there was a combination of drones and lidar scans. It’s also connected to Arborescent, and I think it was a nice counterpart to that work.”
Quayola’s Creative Keynote will take place at 15:30 today in room CC4.1 begins at 18:30 this evening. It is free to attend.

CEDIA Annual Meeting
Florian Rotberg, managing director, invidis consulting
By David Davies
During a period of unprecedented change in so many parts of the AV business, it seems entirely logical that the 2025 edition of the Digital Signage Summit (DSS) – being held today in room CC4.1 – will take a deep-dive into several of the trends and technologies currently ‘disrupting’ the digital signage industry.
From ePaper to new advances in LED, the summit will “look at how digital signage is being impacted by all these new technologies, as well as what it means for integrators and vendors in terms of changing their offerings and business models to address the changing needs”, says Florian Rotberg, managing director of invidis consulting and co-curator and host of DSS alongside his invidis consulting colleague Stefan Schieker.
In keeping with the anticipated artificial intelligence theme present at many ISE summits and meetings this year, AI will be a key topic at DSS. A session entitled ‘Prompting Signage – How AI is disrupting digital signage’ will feature speakers including Tina Tse, co-founder & advisor, Pantheon Lab and Craig Francis, digital signage partner manager, Google ChromeOS, discussing the opportunities and influence of AI on digital signage. Then, in ‘The Next Frontier – digital humans and generative AI in retail digital signage’, speakers including Pantheon Lab co-founder and CEO Ivan Lau will explore real-world examples of AI-powered virtual shopping assistants, personalised product recommendations, and interactive brand ambassadors.
‘One of the great things about DSS is that it’s very compact… and it gives people a very useful update about all the latest trends affecting our business’
“We’re already seeing how generative AI is changing the industry in terms of creating and translating new content and being able to localise it with different information and artwork,” says Rotberg. “But what’s also interesting is how AI is allowing integrators and customers to really analyse the data they get through the systems, as well as enabling the hardware.”
CYBER CONCERNS
Cybersecurity is also prominent in the DSS programme, acknowledging its steep rise in importance as approaches to system design and connectivity
have shifted. “Ten years ago, digital signage was a siloed installation and wasn’t usually connected to any backend systems, so security wasn’t a big issue,” says Rotberg. “But today that has completely changed and digital signage, like other systems, is fully connected to everything in the backend, meaning that all relevant data is more or less connected to the digital signage. It means that digital signage now has the same security requirement as an enterprise resource planning system, so the software and integration have to be fully certified and you have to make sure there are no security issues.”
Discussing this subject in ‘Navigating Cyber-Security Risks in Digital Signage’ will be speakers including Jeff Hastings, CTO of BrightSign, and Jason Cremins, founder and CEO of Signagelive.
Sustainability is also set to be a recurring topic of this year’s event, with Visionect sales & marketing project manager Magdalena Bogatinovska among the speakers in a session on ePaper (EPD) – the energy-saving, high contrast technology that is widely expected to have a transformative effect on the area of the market requiring non-video content.
Noting that an EPD system can typically run on the same battery for two years, Rotberg predicts that “ePaper will be a game-changer. Currently it’s only available in sizes up to 40in, but in the next few years that will likely go up to 70in or 80in. Also, prices are still very high, but we expect those to come down fast, so there’s a lot of potential.”
With Rotberg and Schieker set to outline the latest data about the industry in their introductory session, ‘Managing Signage:
Breaking the rules of digital signage’, the scene is set for another edition of an event that traditionally draws one of the largest summit audiences at ISE.
“One of the great things about DSS is that it’s very compact, at under four hours, and it gives people a very useful update about all the latest trends affecting our business – and at the start of the year, too. I think those are some of the key reasons behind its continued popularity,” concludes Rotberg.
Digital Signage Summit runs today from 10:3014:10 in room CC4.1.

Across the ISE showfloor, leading audio manufacturers are showcasing cutting-edge amplifiers, custom installation products and home theatre solutions that combine superior sound quality with modern functionality.
Q Acoustics (CS370) is introducing the E300A, a ceiling-mounted hi-fi amplifier that doubles as the hub of a smart home ecosystem. Offering the convenience of Amazon Alexa voice control, this amplifier pairs with in-ceiling or in-wall speakers. With WiFi capability for multi-room audio, support for music services such as Amazon Multi-Room Music, Apple AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect, plus Bluetooth 5.2, the E300A provides flexibility for retrofitting installations. Additional features include a 60-minute fire rating, eliminating the need for a fire hood, and audio input for TV sound integration.
From Hansong (1E700), the ZDA-8120 is a new category of product that aims to redefine the custom installation and home theatre market by merging AVR processing power
with the flexibility of a CI streaming amplifier. The ZDA-8120 features Dolby Atmos and DTS, supports multiple input types – RCA, HDMI ARC/eARC, USB and more – and allows up to four simultaneous streams. This combination of advanced functionality and ease of installation highlights its versatility in both home cinema and custom audio environments.
Lyngdorf Audio (2J800) has expanded its custom installation lineup with the launch of the DW-1 and DW-10 in-wall woofers, which the company says deliver powerful, precise bass in a shallow form factor. New in-wall speakers, including the compact D-6, extend Lyngdorf’s range to 12 different in-wall and in-ceiling speakers for media rooms and home theatres. Demonstrations in Hall 2 feature the FR-2 floor-standing speaker, and the flagship D-60 in-wall speakers and BW-20 woofer in the PrimeTheater home cinema.
Last year, Shure introduced the Microflex Wireless (MXW) neXt 2 microphone system at ISE. Since the launch, the two-channel wireless system has been widely awarded and embraced by numerous organisations worldwide. This year, Shure further expands the MXW neXt portfolio with Microflex Wireless (MXW) neXt 4- and 8-channel versions – offering even more functionality and flexibility to corporate enterprise and higher education environments. IT managers and AV professionals have access to enhanced capabilities that cover small to extra-large rooms and multipurpose spaces. In addition to handheld, wearable and boundary microphone options, MXW neXt 4 and 8 feature an additional gooseneck transmitter option and modular networked charging modules, along with Designer 6 software integration and exceptional audio performance in a range of user-friendly form factors. It is scalable to up to 80 channels.

AV specialist Atlona is showcasing a USB-C and HDMI switcher for learning and meeting applications.
The Omega Series AT-OME-SW21-TX is a 2×1 switcher and HDBaseT transmitter with USB-C and HDMI inputs, and mirrored HDMI and HDBaseT outputs. It comes with the ability to send 4K video, plus embedded audio, control and USB 2.0, over distances up to 100m.

As we move through 2025, the video conferencing ecosystem continues to evolve, driven by technological advancements and changing work patterns.
Futuresource Consulting’s latest market report provides a comprehensive analysis of the trends shaping this dynamic market. Let’s take a look at five key stats and developments shaping the video conferencing landscape.
NEARS 4 MILLION
We expect global video conferencing volume to have approached 4 million units by the
end of 2024, up from 3.79 million units in 2023. This 5% year-on-year growth is primarily driven by meeting room cameras and video bars.
Our forecasts show that global market value will have surpassed $5.1 billion by the end of 2024, up from $4.9 billion in 2023, as enterprises continue to invest in technology to support hybrid work patterns.
The divide between bring your own device (BYOD) and room system deployment methods remains a hot topic. While BYOD requires lower initial financial investment and reduces the need for user training, room systems offer ease of use through one-
Taking to the floor for its ISE debut, the CM38 is a high-performance, biamped floor monitor from US manufacturer 1 Sound.
Described by the company as delivering a “punchy, tight sound with incredible high frequency articulation”, it is an IP55-rated,
touch ‘join meeting’ functionality and better management of meeting room equipment. We expect competition between these two approaches to continue, with each method having its own benefits and drawbacks.
Logitech remains the largest single manufacturer of video conferencing peripherals, accounting for 21% of global volumes during the first half of 2024. This success is primarily due to the popularity of its MeetUp video bar. HP Poly takes second position, while Yealink takes third.
Artificial intelligence continues to be a buzzword within the AV industry, but enterprises are
struggling to define what AI really is and why they should invest in it. In addition, the economic climate in 2024 was not conducive to the growth of innovative technology, with manufacturers consolidating their existing product portfolios.
Companies are also hesitant to invest in AI for video conferencing until its true value can be realised. There is a general feeling of having to wait and see how AI evolves in the coming years.
As we look ahead, these trends highlight the ongoing transformation of the video conferencing market. Enterprises are navigating the complexities of hybrid work, balancing cost and functionality, and exploring the potential of AI to enhance their video conferencing experiences.
full-range concert monitor with a bandwidth down to 60Hz.
Standing only 8in tall with a maximum SPL of 130dB,
the CM38’s progressive horn design enables it to push its high frequency farther upstage while maintaining a controlled dispersion pattern that narrows with distance. Especially suited to live performance and touring applications, the CM38’s passive cardioid design cancels out about 8dB of mid-low frequencies on the sides and behind the speaker in its off-axis response, resulting in a cleaner sound environment past the monitor and off-stage.
In addition to custom colours and natural wood finishes, the 1 Sound Custom Shop has added metallic finishes for loudspeaker cabinets and metal plating for metal grilles. Metal plating can use materials such as chrome, brass, gold and nickel.

Joe Andrulis, executive vice president of corporate development, Biamp
The pro-AV office market paradoxically has become both more simplified and more complex during the past decade. On the one hand, emerging technologies such as AI and unified communication platforms are helping to streamline the process for installing, provisioning, managing and then using the AV equipment that has become mission critical for day-to-day business, from conferencing bars and room scheduling tools to digital signal processors.
On the other hand, with the growth and maturation of hybrid work, integrators, AV specialists and IT leaders are forced to manage an ever-growing and increasingly complex ecosystem of connected AV devices. A recent survey from real estate powerhouse CBRE found that 92% of clients utilise hybrid work, cementing it as the most
dominant form of work worldwide. Consequently, AV assets are increasingly distributed across a variety of geographies and scenarios, from the traditional office to the home and practically anywhere in between.
To wrangle this complexity, Biamp launched Biamp Workplace – a cloud-based software platform that empowers everyone along the AV value chain to oversee and manage their AV systems from a unified dashboard accessible anytime, anywhere. Integration of such software will require a mindset shift for all, but the rewards are unmistakable. IT or AV professionals will be able to provision AV assets more efficiently and manage a product’s entire lifecycle seamlessly, and the end user will reap an improved overall experience. As we look forward, we believe unified platforms that further streamline and simplify AV system management and operation will be a key focus for manufacturers and end users alike.

While meeting room microphones thrived, other segments faced mixed results. Meeting room speakerphones experienced a slight dip, ending 2023 with a market value of $344 million. Similarly, conference phones saw an 8% decline in volumes and a 6% decrease in revenue. These shifts reflect a broader move towards feature-rich alternatives, such as advanced speakerphones and video conferencing systems, which offer greater flexibility and functionality.
Office-based headsets, on the other hand, experienced modest volume growth, surpassing 37 million units. However, market value declined by nearly 6%, as budget-friendly wired solutions gained traction amid tightened enterprise spending.
Despite the challenges, we’re optimistic about the future of audio conferencing. We expect stronger growth to resume in 2025, driven by evolving workplace models and increased stability in enterprise operations. One key driver will be the integration of AI-powered features, which will include features such as natural sound optimisation and automation, all designed to enhance flexibility and productivity in hybrid work environments.
Above all else, what we are seeing is that audio conferencing is no longer just a standalone necessity. It’s an integral part of comprehensive workplace strategies. Companies are recognising its potential to foster better communication and collaboration, creating workplaces that are more connected and efficient.

Belgian loudspeaker manufacturer Audiofocus has unveiled Eliz 210, a compact, versatile line array series targeted at rental companies, performance venues and houses of worship.
With more than 40 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of professional cabling for the broadcast, telecommunications and multimedia industries, Barcelona-based connectivity expert Percon has brought its new range of fibre products to ISE this year.
The local company is shining a spotlight on two new fibre cables; firstly, its two- and four-channel HMA expanded beam single-mode and multimode cables are assembled with tactical military cable and are available with or without metallic armour.
Secondly, Percon is introducing its MTP/MPO cabling assemblies with military tactical cable and helicoidal metallic armour. The assemblies are only 6mm in diameter and are available with 12 or 24 fibres. The company says these cables comprise compact metallic connectors reinforced with a plastic case that makes them suitable for use in harsh outdoor environments, and their IP68 rating ensures protection against dust and water.
www.percon.es
Like other recent Audiofocus releases, Eliz 210 employs V mounted twin 10in Tetracoil double voice coil LF transducers for enhanced low-end performance, precision control, faster impulse response and improved transient handling. The LF design is complemented by a next-generation 4in titanium diaphragm HF compression driver, selected for its linearity and mid-band clarity.
The 90°x8° dispersion of each Eliz 210 cabinet can be adjusted to 70° using the M-Flexion system of custom 3D printed magnetised ABS horn plugs. These horn plugs can be inserted and removed without tools, allowing the same Eliz system to be quickly tailored to the coverage requirements of different spaces, or to manage reflections from hard surfaces.
Alongside the biamplified Eliz 210, Audiofocus also offers a self-powered Eliz 210a variant with integral Class D amplifier and the ability to remotely monitor and control the system using its SCiO management software.

It was an incredibly ambitious turnaround for such a massive and complex production.”
Deans cites the ATEM Constellation 8K’s ability to not require inputs to be referenced or locked to a specific resolution or frame rate
as hugely advantageous when dealing with gameplay feeds. “Additionally, the switcher’s ability to work with the embedded audio signals of its video inputs is a big deal when it comes to esports and gameplay capture,” he noted. Featuring a circular stage, the space incorporated 12 custom PS5 gameplay pods, each equipped with video, audio and network systems to capture player action. Furthermore, a dedicated caster studio hosted live commentary, while a co-streamer area allowed five Twitch creators to stream with alternative styles, using streamlined production setups with access to the main broadcast’s gameplay and camera feeds.
That workflow relied on DeckLink Duo 2 capture and playback cards for ingest into vMix Software to operate an all-in-one software vision mix, while a Blackmagic Videohub 40x40 12G SDI video router was employed to distribute the host broadcast signals to all five co-streamer setups.
Rob Stevens, esports technical producer and broadcast engineer, is delivering a technical showcase on the tournament delivery from 11:15-11:45 in the Esports Arena today.

Available in two flavours, RME’s 1U rackmount M-1620 Pro converts 16 analogue linelevel signals to and from MADI, ADAT, and either Milan or Dante network technology.
The M-1620 Pro D integrates 64-channel Dante connectivity, providing direct links to other audio devices via standard Ethernet switches. If redundancy is not required, the device can act as a switch and allow daisychains of several Dante devices. Users can record and playback up to 64 channels of I/O on a computer using Audinate’s Dante Virtual Soundcard.
The Milan-certified model transmits and receives up to 128 channels at 48kHz (96 at 96kHz and 64 at 192kHz)
with fixed latency across a deterministic network. It reveals its status and configurable options to controllers using the open IEEE 1722.1 (ATDECC) standard and is compatible with the new Milan Manager. Meanwhile, the unit’s newly developed front panel combines LED level meters with two headphone outputs for monitoring. The M-1620 Pro also boasts dual network and dual MADI connections, along with a monitored DC input in addition to its internal AC power supply, alerting the user when an issue arises to ensure seamless operation.

BLACKMAGIC DESIGN | STAND: 4R500
An acquisition, control and delivery solution from Blackmagic Design has recently been used on the UK and European leg of Glass Animals’ Tour of Earth, delivered by independent video technology company 80six.
“With the creative concept for the tour already established, our job was to bring this vision to life on stage through the LED screens,” said Jack James, co-founder and director of 80six.
The core setup across the different stops of the tour included a fleet of Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 cameras utilising SPMTE fibre chains positioned around the stage and front of house, accompanied by several PTZ cameras and Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2s for close up and low angle shots.
“We paired the URSA Broadcasts with UHD-
Digisuper 90 and HD22 parfocal lenses which were able to maintain focus while zooming in and out. Likewise, the remote camera control functionality and comms integration of the URSAs further added to the ease of operation,” said Samuel Siegel, racks engineer, 80six.
Video, power and comms to and from the cameras relied on more than 150m of SMPTE fibre cable running to a portable production unit backstage, built around the ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K live production switcher and an ATEM Camera Control Panel for remote camera shading. Signal management employed the Blackmagic Videohub 40x40 12G router and multiple HyperDeck Studio
4K Pro broadcast decks for recording, while a Blackmagic MultiView 16 built into the PPU rack aided with video monitoring. – JO RUDDOCK www.blackmagicdesign.com
