Meet the Cast! Introducing Lou & Anita Williams

Lou & Anita 2011 Hello, we are the Williams. I am Anita, your new editor for "The Marquee," and I am married to Louis. We joined FUMCWP in the fall of 2009 as newlyweds but were both previously long-term members of Asbury United Methodist in Maitland, FL. Having lived in central Florida for over 25 years, we have quite a history in the area and have been active members of the community. We have one son, David, and three grandchildren, who provide us with lots to do in our spare time. Lou has been a member of the Moose Club since 1985, a layman clergy for Florida Hospital, and a Stephen Minister/leader. He volunteers as a docent for Orlando History Museum, Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, as well as helping Bicycle Blessings and serving as an usher for worship on Sunday. I will retire in October from FIS, a financial software company, and I look forward to more time to dedicate to helping others. I am a former member of Altrusa International, American Society of Training & Development and the Maitland Rotary Club, where I have worked with many charitable organizations and projects. We both love traveling, reading, gardening making new friends in our Act II organization. We also believe that we should try to share our life with others and try to get out of ourselves to live the full life God intended. "The great use of life is to spend it for

something that will outlast it." - William James. This section will highlight members of our congregation to help us get to know each other better. We welcome your suggestions of members to introduce. Contact the editor, Anita Williams, at delphi50@embarqmail.com .

~~~~~~ Act II Christian Book Study - "Wild Goose Chase" Sunday at 11 a.m. Based on Mark Batterson's book "Wild Goose Chase" Led by Dr. Michael Kormanicki This eight -week book study will address our endless effort to discover the will of God which is often confusing and complicated. Celtic Christians called the Holy Spirit An Gedh-Glas, or "the Wild Goose," a name that hints at His mysterious nature. Please enjoy reading the following excerpt from this important book which propels us to what we can and should be if we allow God's Spirit to be all He can be in our lives. "A part of us feels as if something is spiritually wrong with us when we experience circumstantial uncertainty. But that is precisely what Jesus promised us when we are born of the Spirit and start following Him. Most of us will have no idea where we are going most of the time. And I know that is unsettling. But circumstantial uncertainty also goes by another name: adventure." Join us Sundays at 11a.m., starting September 18, MFLC Room 313 For information: call Janet Hays at 407.687.4221 To register: call the church office at 407.644.2906
Prayer I Believe......or Do I? Mark 16:14 - 16 " Later He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table and He upbraided them for their lack of faith and stubbornness because they had not believed those who saw Him after He had risen....The one who believes and is baptized will be saved. "
FYI
MODERN-DAY SLAVERY IS A PERSISTANT EVIL in our city, in our state, and in our world. How does slavery continue to affect lives today? How can Christian faith help us confront and eradicate slavery? People all over the world are being bought and sold as slaves - even in our own city. Carol Welker works with awareness of this terrible crime. For informaiton on how to help Carol, call her at: 407-920-6455.
