footprint among biofuel producers in the sugar industry.
In line with its commitment to environmental care, Providencia implemented the fuel alcohol or anhydrous ethanol production program in 2005. Today, it is not only the company in the sugarcane agro-industry sector that produces ethanol with the lowest emission factor, but it is also the only sugar mill producing organic alcohol.
Fuel alcohol is a renewable fuel that is directly mixed with conventional gasoline to reduce carbon emissions and improve octane levels.
In 2016, under the ISO 14064-1 standard, a sectoral methodology was established to measure the environmental impact of alcohol fuel. Since then, companies in the sector, including Providencia, began measuring their carbon footprint. This measurement is certified annually by ANCE (Association for Standardization and Certification), a Mexican organization specialized in product certification.
According to the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME), while gasoline in Colombia has an emission factor of 2,300 kg/m³, Providencia's alcohol emits only 352 kg/m³, making it 85% less polluting.
The carbon footprint measurement is conducted annually and by business units. is the entity responsible for certifying, compiling, and delivering the information to the companies.
According to the Sugar Cane Research Center in Colombia, the average carbon footprint of the sector in the production of anhydrous alcohol is 473 kg/m³. Providencia is 121 kg/m³ below this average and 428 kg/m³ below the
Before distribution, with 2% to 2.5% pure gasoline, ensuring its exclusive use for gasoline oxygenation. Wholesalers, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission mix the alcohol with conventional gasoline to reduce the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.
Providencia has refined this process to now have the alcohol with the lowest carbon footprint in the sector, contributing to improved air quality and climate change mitigation.
produces its fuel ethanol from cane syrup, taking advantage of its high sugar content. Through fermentation, filtration, and distillation, anhydrous alcohol is obtained with a purity of 99.9%. This production process ensures a high-quality product with a low environmental impact.
At Providencia, we are proud that the academic quality of our institution continues to grow, and the results of the most recent Saber 11 test confirm this.
This time, Santiago Velasco, an 11th-grade student achieved a score of 426 making him the top ICFES student at the school and in El Cerrito; four other students also scored above 400.
Additionally, six students received perfect scores of 100/100 in mathematics, social studies, English, and critical reading.
Beyond these excellent results, it is important to highlight that our bilingualism level continues to improve, which will soon help us achieve our goal of becoming a national bilingual school.
We are also proud to have increased the overall average by 37% over the past nine years, demonstrating that our commitment and sustained efforts are bearing fruit, providing more opportunities for the students' future.

At the recent meeting with our Cane Suppliers at Providencia, held on September 12 of this year, we had the opportunity to share updates from the sector and convey our higher purpose: "We inspire a better, sweeter, and more sustainable world." We strengthened the bonds of trust that connect us with our suppliers, who provide more than 60% of the raw materials we use.
The event which was attended by 290 people was key in reinforcing open and transparent dialogue with them. Additionally, we reaffirmed our commitment to sustainability through
one of the actions we enthusiastically carry out to ensure that children and young people in the sector receive a quality education that enables them to achieve their dreams and build a better future.
