1.1 Day 1: Lille Everybody came together at the school about 8.15h. The coach arrived at school on 8.30h. After a ride of a hour we passed the border of Belgium and France. From then on we had to drive about 20 minutes before we arrived at the shopping center , nammed Euralille , in Lille.

(Picture: van Euralille)

4

When we were out of the bus, our teacher explained a few rules. From there we went to the railway “Gare Lille-Europe”. In the railway we get a quarter to look around.

(Picture: railway Lille-Europe)

When we had explored the railway we went to a park around the railway. The park was called “Parc Henri Matisse”. We walked about in the park for a half hour. After the walk in the park we made an accompaniment walk with the teacher.

(Picture: Parc Henri Matisse)

5

Around noon we were on Place du Générale de Gaulle were we get free time to 3pm. When we could walk around in Lille we went again to the shopping center and ate there in the Quick. Afterwards we went to the shopping streets in the town. We drunk also a cola on the pavement of a café.

(Picture: La Déese)

When we came together again on Place du Générale de Gaulle we got a short briefing from our teachers. When everything was explained we were totally free to chose what to do untill Saterday evening.

6

First we went to Le Furet du Nord on Place du GĂŠnĂŠrale de Gaulle. This is a huge store with 7 floors where you can buy dvd's, cd's, books, magazine's and so on. We shopped about 2 hours only in this store! When we came outside the store, we decided to look first after a hotel because we sold many things. A little bit furhter from the square we founded hotel Carlton in rue de Paris. This was only a few minutes away from the plain.

7

When we booked a room for one night only we went to look after a restaurant because we started getting hungry.

We decided to walk around in the town looking after a restaurant that pleased us. After only 10 minutes we came at restaurant Le Square. Our dicision was made in a few minutes, this was the restaurant where we should ate something!

After our dinner we made the dicision to drink something and went back to the hotel because our first train to London left the railway at 7.42h. When we came back in the hotel, we went to the fitness room. After a hour of intensive fitness we drunk something in the bar and went both to our rooms where our alarm should start making some noise about 6am.

8

1.2 Day 2: Londen At six o’clock we got up. After the breakfast we went back to our rooms where we get prepared, took our backpacks and went to the railway. We arrived about 7.20h at the railway. We had to get our tickets and then we could go to the platform to get the train to London. Our train arrived in Lille at 7.42h. We get on the train and took a sit. When we were a few minutes on the train we decided to think about what we should do that day in London. After a little time of thinking we looked in different brochures and pointed the place we would visit out. When we pointed our plan out and had written everything on a piece of paper we arrived at 8.26h in London Waterloo International.

(Picture: Waterloo Int.)

9

We had also searched for a hotel while we were on the train. We’ve chosen for The Bridge Hotel. When we were out of the railway we’ve took a cab to the hotel. We drove via Waterloo Road to Bourough road 30 where our hotel took place.

(Picture: The Bridge Hotel)

When we booked our rooms and get our backpacks in our rooms we’ve took off to Hyde Park. We’ve took the metro in Railway Borough to Hyde Park Corner. We’ve walked around for at least three hours to see everything and took some Pictures. When it was nearly at noon we’ve decided to eat in Hyde Park.

10

When we had our lunch we went through Saint James Park to London Eye. After a little walk we reached London Eye. Because it was short after noon there were a lot of people because the view was perfect now. But both of us wanted to do this so we took place in the row. After about three quarters shoving on it was our turn. The ride took about 30 minutes. It was worth to wait and we had a view over Buckingham Palace, Wembley Stadium, Waterloo Station and many other things.

(Pictures: Londen Eye)

11

De next place we visited was the Tower Bridge. When we were out of London Eye we went back to railway Waterloo where we got our metro to railway London Bridge. Because of the good weather we walked aside the water to tower Bridge.

(Picture: Tower Bridge)

We walked over the Tower Bridge and took some pictures. Then we decided to drink something in a local pub. After about a half hour relaxing we went to the museum Madame Tussauds. In this museum you can find different waxworks of famous people. In here we looked around for about a hour and took some pictures.

12

We wanted also to visited the Wembley Stadium, but this was to far away from the center of London. And we hadn't eaten yet and had to get back to the hotel. Because we couldn't find a good restaurant in the neighbourhood of the museum we took the metro back to the hotel and eat something there. After dinner we went both to our own rooms and took a refreshing shower. We came together in a room to decide what we should do that Thursday. After we looked in some brochures, we decided to go to Bristol. We looked on the Internet after the hours for the train.

Our train should arrive at 8:43h in the railway and should arrive in Bristol at 10:07h. We also talked about the things we wanted to see that day. Because we had to get early out bed, we went to our rooms to sleep.

13

1.3 Day 3: Bristol At 06:45h our alarms got off and with a big smile we get out our beds. We prepared to take off. About 07:10h we ate an a English breakfast. About 07:45 h we went to the lobby were our backpacks were waiting for us. Then we got off to Railway Londen Paddington with the taxi. When we arrived in the railway we went to the information point where we asked information about hotels in Bristol. When we founded the correct platform, where our train was already waiting.

We looked for a quiet place in the coach and looked for a hotel in Bristol. Because we were really early out of bed and had a few hard days, we did a fast nap.

14

When the train arrived in Bristol we decided to go to the Bristol Marriott Hotel. This was about 20 minutes away from the railway so we took a cab. We put our backpacks in the rooms and went to the Bristol Cathedral. This was about 10 minutes away from the hotel. But it couldn't really interest us, so we went to a supermarket and bought some sandwiches and a drink. We took place on a bank in the sun.

(Picture: Bristol Cathedral)

After then we went to Saint Mary Redcliffe church. Fist we made a tour around the church because we thought it had a special construction. After we took some pictures of the outside we went in the church.

15

We should very pleased if we had a guide for a tour in the church, but because it was very busy there were no guides available and it should take a hour before somebody was free. So we bought a guide-book with some information and history about the Saint Mary Redcliffe church.

(Picture: St Mary Redcliffe church)

We walked around for a hour and half, then we went to the harbour where we could ate something in The Harbour side, this wasn’t far away from the SS Great Britain, a ship we wanted to visit.

16

(Picture: SS Great Britain) On the ship we walked around for another three hours because it really interested us. We took many pictures, as well in as up the ship. The ship ware very big with many information on board. Because we walked around here for a long time we could visit only one sight instead of the two we planned. So we decided to go to The Corn Exchange because the Clifton Suspension Bridge was far away from the city-centre. Fist we walked around in the quarter itself, afterwards we went to the marker square. This is the old centre of the old city.

17

(Picture: The Corn Exchange)

We took the cab back way to the hotel because it was a few kilometres away. We drunk some Guinness in the bar and looked in the brochures, looking for which city we should visit tomorrow. We choosed for Birmingham.

18

(Pictures: Bristol Marriott Hotel)

We should take our first train at 09.39h, so we should arrive in Birmingham at 10.57h. We hadn’t notice any sight we could visit because we wanted to walk around in the city for a day and look to the sights we wanted.

19

1.4 Day 4: Birmingham Because we were very lazy that day, we rung for room service and asked for a breakfast with some champagne. After the breakfast we went to the railway where we took our train.

Because we were four days underway now, our backpacks weight a lot fewer, so we could walk around with our backpacks. So we hadn’t to search for a hotel first and started directly with our excursion.

The first thing on our road was Victoria Square, this is the centre of the city. Around the square you can find a lot of old buildings. We took some pictures and sat on a bank. We wanted to visit one of the buildings, but because we hadn’t the permission we could only see it from the outside. After our tour on the square,

20

we drunk something on the pavement, it was very hot that day and surely with our backpacks.

(Picture: Victoria Square)

After about a half hour we went further on through the city. After a few minutes we came by the town hall. It’s a masterpiece of the Victorian architecture. We couldn’t go in the town hall because they were renovating. The Town hall should open again from 8 October.

(Picture: Town hall)

Not far away from the town hall is the most visited square, Chamberlain square. On the square you can find many statue’s of famous people like James Watt. You can also find the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on this square. So we

21

decided to visit that, because there was a lot of time left. Because we couldn’t take pictures inside the museum, we only have one of the outside.

(Picture: Chamberlain Square)

After we had everything seen, we booked a room in The Stay Birmingham hotel and ate there our dinner. Later in the evening we went to the bar were we drunk some thing. Our latest day came closer, we had decided to go to Canterburry and Dover, where we should take the train back to Belgium.

22

1.5 Day 5: Canterburry – Dover At 06.45h we were in railway Birmingham New Street to get our train to Canterbury East. We took our train that early because we should travel for more then three hours and otherwise we shouldn't have much time to explore Canterbury and Dover because our train to Belgium set off at 16.41h When we arrived in Canterbury, we went to the cathedral. But before we visited the cathedral we had a drink in a pub near the cathedral. Because we had visited this place a few months ago with our school, we knew the our way through it.

(Picture: Canterbury Cathedral)

When we came out the cathedral it was already 11.45h. So we decided to look after the old town gate and took a picture.

23

You can't really walk around for long here, because there wasn't much left of the original building. From here we took the cab to Dover. When we arrived in Dover we went first to look at the white cliffs. We walked around for a bit and took some pictures on the side of the street and one from the seaside.

When we were ready with the pictures, we went to our last sight of our vacation, this was Dover Castle. We had only 2 hours left to catch our train to Brussels!

24

When we arrived in the castle, we get a guided tour. The guide showed us the most beautiful places of the castle. From here we enjoyed the lovely view over the sea. We bought something little to eat and get a cab for the last time to a railway.

We hadn't to wait for our train, if we had arrived ten minutes later... Our train should be gone! While we were on the train we ate something, talked about the most funniest and beautiful times of our week and write them down as a sort of diary (which you are reading at the moment to be correct). After we changed into another train in Brussels, we arrived after five days in Sint-Niklaas. From the railway we went home and should be sleeping in our very own bed.
