Day 38: The Greatest Among You
Scripture: Matthew 23:11-12 (NIV)
"The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled..."
Song: Contemporary Gospel – “Make Room” by Jonathan McReynolds I find space for what I treasure… I make time for what I want. I choose my priorities—Jesus, You’re my number one.
Reflection:
The call to justice is a call to servanthood. We are not called to rise above others, but to stoop low and lift others up. That’s kingdom greatness. That’s Christ-likeness.
Prayer:
God, help me to let go of my ego and make room for Your way. Teach me to serve first, love first, and follow Jesus in humility. Amen.
Day 39: Into the Garden
Scripture: Luke 22:42 (NIV)
"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."
Song: Hispanic Christian Song – “Cristo, Yo Te Amo”
Spanish: Cristo, yo te amo, No hay nadie como Tú.
English:
Jesus, I love You, There is no one like You.
Reflection:
Gethsemane is where the cost of justice becomes clear. Jesus wrestled in agony, but chose obedience. This is the path of justice—not always easy, but always holy.
Prayer:
Jesus, when the road gets hard, give me strength to choose Your will. Let me not run from the work of justice, but run toward it with grace. Amen.
Day 40: The Cross and the Cry
Scripture: Luke 23:46 (NIV) "Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' When he had said this, he breathed his last."
Song: Negro Spiritual – “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?” Were you there when they crucified my Lord? Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble…
Reflection:
The cross is the intersection of suffering and salvation. Jesus died an unjust death to bring eternal justice. The cry from the cross echoes today in the cries of the suffering. Will we be there—will we respond?
Prayer:
Crucified Lord, I will not turn away. Help me to carry the cross of justice with love, to stand with the suffering, and to never grow numb to injustice. Amen.
Holy Saturday Reflection: The Silence Between
Scripture: Lamentations 3:26 (NIV) "It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."
Song: Contemporary Gospel – “Gracefully Broken” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard Here I am, God, arms wide open… Pouring out my life, gracefully broken.
Reflection:
Holy Saturday is the in-between. The silence. The waiting. And yet, even here, God is moving. Justice work is often slow and quiet. But trust—resurrection is coming.
Prayer:
God of the waiting, meet me in the silence. Strengthen my faith when I cannot see the outcome. I trust You are still at work. Amen. Week 6 Complete (Days 36–40 + Holy Week)
