Heroes Hockey Challenge A Nation Needs Its Heroes

Not every amazing idea turns into a successful reality. But with perseverance and a lot of hard work, the concept of combining two Canadian icons - Canada’s national sport of hockey and the world's finest soldiers - to create a fundraising event in support of our military and their families came to fruition in 2012. Conceived in 2010 by Glenn Cumyn and refined by the original partners and Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) Foundation, Heroes Hockey Challenge (HHC) shines the spotlight on some of this nation’s greatest heroes for the benefit of Canada’s unsung heroes. Now a series of charitable hockey fundraising events which take place annually in communities across Western Canada, the inspirational Yellow Ribbon Gala Dinner and NHL Alumni vs. Canadian Forces veterans hockey game have become “must-attend” events for fans of all ages. The PPLCI Foundation is proud to partner with the Edmonton Garrison Military Family Resource Centre for this year’s HHC in Edmonton, with net proceeds from the event shared equally between the two organizations to support their programs and services.

Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Foundation Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Foundation (PPCLI Foundation) is a registered charity with a mandate to provide support to soldiers and their families. Funds raised by the Foundation have been used to: • • •

The Foundation also promotes the efficiency of the armed forces of the Crown, and funds and carries out activities and programs to establish and preserve monuments relating to military service by Canadian soldiers and service personnel.
