Amicus Brief(s) Snell v. Walz

The Fredrikson team of Devin Driscoll, Mary Heath and Sarah Theisen represented the Minnesota Public Health Association as an amicus supporting the State in Snell v. Walz, a challenge to the governor’s authority to declare a peacetime emergency in response to a publichealth emergency like COVID. The team worked hard to produce a detailed, thoughtful and comprehensive brief that was well received by the client and the courts. The Minnesota Supreme Court ultimately sided with the state and affirmed that the Emergency Management Act granted the governor the authority to declare a peacetime emergency during a public health crisis.
