YOUR INVITATION – TO THE GREATEST REVEAL OF A LIFETIME

A

client who booked his first ever yacht charter with us last year, someone who has since become a friend, was talking to me recently during a fun filled birthday celebration for a member of his family, about one of the greatest moments of his life. It was that yacht charter. He told me that never, in all the years of bringing up a young family, had they ever experienced the bonding, the adventure, the relieffilled disconnect from noisy, hectic day-to-day lives that those two weeks on board a 50M/164’ yacht in the Caribbean introduced into all their lives. “We ate well,” he told me. “We slept soundly, we swam, dived and jet-skied, played games, went hiking around the islands and had proper meaningful conversations lounging in front of panoramic sunsets. It was like the ultimate detox.”

Whether you decide to own the experience with the purchase of your first ever superyacht, as you will hear from one Owner in the pages to follow, or you prefer the care-free get-away experience of a charter, our teams are here to ensure you enjoy access to nothing but the very best of all that yachts, yachting and the world we live in, have to offer. Enjoy this edition of FUSE – we hope you find it truly inspirational. For those of you who have not yet planned your summer of yachting – our teams are ready and waiting. And for those of you who have – we wish you fair winds and following seas.

It was his wife who perfectly topped this heartfelt testimonial when she added: “It has opened up a whole new world for us.” For me, and each one of my 190+ team worldwide at Fraser, this is why we do what we do every single day. In FUSE, we try to encapsulate all that awaits you, your family and friends once you take your first step aboard another world.

SEIZE THE DAY I

n an era beset with uncertainties, our desire to grasp the best of this world is reflected in the rising demand for yachts and an appreciation of the superyacht life. Both sales and charter provide unique access to quality experiences with family and friends, exclusive engagement with our planet, and the time to reflect on what is important in our lives, for present generations and those to come. NEW BUILD AND PRE-OWNED SALES BOOM Worldwide market numbers of sales may have slightly declined in March 2022 compared to the last two record-breaking years, but pre-owned and new build orders continue to outperform, up +116% since records began. And in terms of value, 2022 has enjoyed the best first quarter of the past 13 years, producing €1,200 million in sales, a 4% increase on 2021 and a 46% increase on 2020.† Fraser, too, continues to outperform all years on record, representing Owners in the sale of their yachts and helping Buyers to secure their perfect purchase. In April 2022, the Fraser team announced the sale of a 34M/111’ yacht that, just three weeks prior, was presented to market for the very first time. If you are considering selling your vessel, now is the optimum time. The total value of sales in Q1 is up +103% on the average for the past 13 years. The greatest activity (in terms of volume of sales) is in the

24-40M/79’-130’ segment. It accounts for around 70% of all sales in any year and reflects the demand from first-time Owners who are new to yachting or upsizing from boating. Fraser’s performance – accounting for 35% of the total market value – is testament to the unique benefits clients worldwide win from working with Brokers who are specialised in all size ranges, from 24M to +100M (79’ to +328’). Find out more from our specialist Brokers about the market today and for an analysis of how our team can position your yacht to attract the right Buyer. NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY New-build demand remains strong. Consequently, finding available slots in key shipyards is challenging, though not impossible. There remain important opportunities that a consultation with your Fraser Broker can open: our team were proud, for example, to announce the sale of 65M/213’ Project YN254, the largest new build project by Royal Hakvoort to date, in January. And reflecting the breadth of our team’s reach, Fraser closed this year’s two largest yacht sales so far, 80M/262' TATIANA and a confidential vessel. If you are considering buying, your Fraser Broker gives you access to over 2,000 yachts across all size ranges, listed both publicly and privately, for sale today. There may be fewer yachts publicly available, but the quality of vessels correctly priced has not diminished, buoyed by the number of unannounced yachts that are

of booked charters, has also maintained popularity, with an emphasis on Croatia, Montenegro and the Greek islands (see page 10-11) as destinations that deliver life-affirming vacations.

CHARTER FEEDS APPETITE FOR ADVENTURE The desire to enjoy dream vacations with those you care for has never been stronger, fuelled by the #YOLO (You Only Live Once) phenomenon. Vacationers are choosing to venture further, for longer, seizing the opportunities that a luxury yacht charter delivers. At the time of going to print, the number of charter days booked by Fraser Brokers for 2022 was up +74% on the previous year.

Whilst Covid remains a factor, perfected protocols and best practice have significantly reduced risks throughout the world, with almost all sought-after destinations now open. The number of charter yachts available worldwide has reduced compared to previous years, but for all destinations the selection of yachts remains enticing, with guests booking an average of nine days per charter, a two-day increase on the previous standard seven days. Echoing the trends witnessed in sales and brokerage, the 3040M/98’-130’ size range is the most popular, accounting for 40% of bookings. We advise booking as far ahead of time as possible, especially if you have specific requirements for certain yachts, size ranges or facilities.

Among Fraser’s US clients, the draw of US/Caribbean destinations, such as the Leeward Islands (see page 12-13) continues to break records accounting for 27% of charter bookings. The Bahamas also remains popular, with a greater inventory of yachts available due to some Owners choosing not to cross the Atlantic. Explorer destinations, such as French Polynesia, are attracting increased interest, and Costa Rica is gaining traction following its decision last year to pass a new law to facilitate easier access to its 800 miles of coastline. Across the pond, the demand for European escapes to the Western Med, including the yachting hub of Monaco, remain high, accounting for 28% of charters. The Eastern Mediterranean, which makes up 27%

Yachting has long provided an unparalleled experience for Owners and Charterers alike, but now more than ever, as reflected in the data, the appetite to explore, relax and savour time together has never been greater. THE PERFECT FIT IT’S SOMETIMES BELIEVED THAT THE BIGGER THE BOAT, THE BIGGER AND BETTER THE EXPERIENCE. BUT DOES SIZE REALLY MATTER, OR ARE THERE OTHER FACTORS THAT COULD ELEVATE YOUR YACHTING EXPERIENCE?

J

ust as every yacht differs, the needs of every Owner and Charterer vary too. From large collections of toys and tenders for fun in the sun, to generous outdoor areas and spa facilities that invite relaxation, to a fast yacht below 60M/196’ that can drop anchor in the shallowest of ports, here’s what you need to know to find the right yacht for you.

+70M/+230’ Superyachts in the +70M/230’ size range tick many boxes thanks to the abundance of onboard space. Large sundecks with bubbling hot tubs, sprawling beach clubs with spacious spas and a collection of pools are usually features you can count on in this size range. Beyond amenities, volume is key. A longer yacht length complemented by huge internal volume means added bonuses from helipads to more dining areas. That said, greater length does not always equate to greater volume, with some 50M yachts offering comparable internal volume to yachts in the 70M size range. The 88.5M/290’ ILLUSION PLUS, for sale with Fraser, boasts a generous 3,642GT volume, which means it offers a 5,000nm range, a touch-and-go helipad and welcomes 16 guests. At 92.4M/303’, TATOOSH (for sale, page 22) has two helicopter pads and a 6,855nm range, ideal for guests wanting to heli-ski or cruise remote regions like Patagonia. And for the sustainably-minded who fancy venturing to Greenland with a reduced footprint, the ice-classed, Polar Codeapproved and Clean Ship certified YERSIN (for sale, page 24) is a high-end explorer with the lowest environmental impact of any yacht on the market today. Northern European-built yachts tend to dominate the upper size bracket where greater length and volume often means more room for cinemas, gyms and nightclubs. It’s for this reason that Oceanco-

built WHEELS (for charter, page 44) is one of the most popular familyfriendly charter yachts on the market. Measuring 76M/249' with a 13.5M/44’ beam, its seven decks include one of the best-equipped cinemas out there, a disco for partying the night away and a sundeck hot tub. On the flipside, a smaller draft provides greater opportunities to anchor in coves many larger yachts can only dream of getting close to.

60-70M/196-230’ While every Owner and charter guest benefits from seven-star service and exceptional standards of accommodation, some groups have difficulty deciding who should take the Master suite. A yacht in the 6070M range, such as 60M/196’ FORMOSA (for charter, page 46) solves that issue. FORMOSA features both a dedicated Owner’s deck and two main deck VIP suites, ensuring all guests feel prioritised. Special events you would like to hold on board, such as milestone birthdays or large-scale entertaining, will again influence your choice of boat. Most 60-70M/196’-230' yachts will sleep up to 12 guests with deck spaces large enough to welcome more guests for parties, but few are equipped to seat 60 guests for a gourmet lunch or up to 350 guests for events at quay (depending on the circumstances), which makes FORCE BLUE (for charter, page 45) a unique proposition. At a newly extended length of 70M/229’, FORCE BLUE is one of the most popular yachts in the Fraser charter fleet. A significant winter refit sees her present like new for the 2022 summer season, with an extended bathing platform, sprawling beach club and a redesigned sea-level lounge. The explorer’s 1,325GT volume gifts stand-out amenities that set her apart from other 70M yachts, with a hot tub, wine cellar, disco and one of the largest yacht spas ever seen.

THE PERFECT FIT

45-60M/147-196’

30-45M/98-147’

Your charter destination also hugely dictates your choice of yacht. An ice-classed hull is not a deal breaker when heading to the higher latitudes, but it will certainly help, along with a high bow, long range and autonomy at sea. And if dropping anchor in Portofino’s diminutive marina is firmly in your sights, not all large yachts offer a draft shallow enough. But 56M/183’ BABA’S (for charter, page 49), the largest Hargrave built to date, has two hot tubs and a draft of just 2.5M/8’, giving you greater access to where you want to go. She also has an excellent selection of tenders and water toys, including a new 13M/42’ Hydra Sport tender making nipping between bays super convenient.

With a reduced gross tonnage comes something many Owners and Charterers look for, especially if island hopping is on their wish list: speed. One of the newest yachts to join the Fraser charter fleet is 40M/131’ MRS D (for charter, page 55), topping 20 knots. Equipped with a revolutionary hybrid propulsion system for sustainable, silent cruising, MRS D is a competitive option in which to be seen but not heard this summer. Smaller and faster still is 35.2M/115’ SEDATIVE (for sale, page 41), which offers Owners a blistering top speed of 26 knots. The 34.5M/113’ OKSANCHIK (for charter, page 58), also enjoys an adrenaline boosting top speed of 26 knots, but at the heart of her successful charter record are the knowledgeable crew who create an onboard retreat guests can’t wait to return to. Something many Fraser clients love about owning a yacht in this size range is the closeness they develop with a long-term crew and the family atmosphere this can create on board.

24-30M/79-98’ It's easy to see why the most popular size range in yachting this year, accounting for 74 of the 158 yachts sold in Q1 2022, falls within the 2430M/79-98’ bracket. Keeping costs down yet accessibility high, smaller yachts more than hold their own, epitomised by 27M/88’ DAY OFF (for sale, page 43), which is in the top 30% of yachts by speed in the world, and 26M/85’ MOONSHADOW NOA (for sale, page 43), which has supersized deck spaces and Moonen build quality. For a wholly unique experience, 24M/79’ dedicated dive vessel U BOAT NAVIGATOR (for charter), enables guests to discover depths of up to 1,000M/3,000’ thanks to its two Triton submersibles and all the underwater exploration gear you could wish for. So, does size really matter? Not unless the boat that meets your individual list of charter must-haves or ownership prerequisites happens to be a big one. There are many other factors at play in ensuring you secure your dream experience...and your Fraser sales or charter broker is here to guide you every step of the way.

CYCLADES, GREECE WIND-SWEPT ROMANCE

W

ith their steady sea breezes, dramatic landscapes and natural harbours, the Cyclades are a haven for waterborne travellers. Conveniently positioned close to Athens, the location of Fraser's new Greek office, the 24 inhabited islands are as delightful as they are disparate.

DAY 1 KÉA Board your yacht in Athens and move out for the picturesque island of Kéa, where neoclassical houses replace the typical Cycladic white-washed, turquoise-domed buildings. Head for the hamlet of Vourkari to enjoy your first meal at starlit seafood eatery Strofi Tou Mimi, where the bay laps at the table. DAY 2 TINOS AND MYKONOS From Kéa, sail to Tinos for a post-breakfast hike across rugged terrain, before enjoying a 20-minute cruise to the windmill island of Mykonos. It enjoys a strong party vibe, but those in the know head for the scenic cave of Agia Anna, next to Kalafatis beach. Carved into rock and hanging over the sea, it’s home to the restorative Spilia Seaside beach club.

DAY 3 PAROS Today, head for the jasmine-scented island of Paros, prized for its Parian marble and fertile terroir. Founded in 1910, the family-owned Moraitis winery offers tantalising tastings from its ten-hectare estate, which conveniently neighbours Agioi Anargyroi beach and is just a short stroll from the Port of Paros. DAY 4 IOS Spend the fourth day of your Greek yacht charter on the island of Ios, where the northern winds in the summer months have created a kitesurfing mecca. The golden sands of Agia Theodoti beach sit off the beaten track. The sheltered bay suits swimmers, sunbathers and those looking to catch big air, all captured in one glorious setting. DAY 5 SANTORINI The volcanic island of Santorini offers spectacular landscapes and golden sunsets. The isle is dominated by a giant caldera that provides a deep and sheltered harbour and is identified by bright white vertiginous villages that soar up the cliff face. Drop anchor on the south side of the island to step foot on its crimson Red Beach, snorkel in the gin-clear sea and swim through myriad sea caves.

It boasts fish restaurant Omega3, a coveted celebrity haunt where diners feast on octopus shots and sea spaghetti, or sample straw ice cream at new sister venue, Cantina. Take a post-meal stroll through the medieval village of Kastro, where labyrinthian streets lead to the sheltered bay of Vathi. DAY 7 KITHNOS AND HOME In Kíthnos, crystal-clear anchorages shoulder the bay of Kolona’s two-sided beach that joins the mainland to the islet of Agios Loukas. No visit is complete without experiencing Dryopida village, built in a valley hidden from the sea. Savour Kythnos’ pasteli, a traditional sesame seed and honey confectionary, before re-joining the yacht to cruise to your disembarkation point.

WHEN TO GO: May to June and September to October WHY WE LOVE IT: Alluring Greek mythology, unspoiled nature and the freshest seafood every day.

LEEWARD ISLANDS, CARIBBEAN TROPIC WATERS

F

rom the regatta highlight of St. Barts to the post-colonial charm of Antigua, the mangrove-lined beaches of the soulful Leeward islands are a melting pot of culture, cuisine and Caribbean chic. Situated away from the trade winds, the 120-mile island chain calls out to sailors like a siren song.

DAY 1 ANTIGUA Join the yacht at Antigua’s Jolly Harbour Marina, where world-class diving and deep-sea fishing beckon. Snorkel with stingray at Mercers Creek Bay, spot nesting hawksbill turtles on Jumby Bay, then end your first day with a zesty dinner of smoked marlin carpaccio at Le Bistro.

14 / 13

DAY 2 NEVIS & ST. KITTS The twin volcanic islands of Nevis and St. Kitts are awash with plantation houses and rolling pastures, but the surrounding atolls are teeming with marine life, from Monkey Shoals to Coconut Tree reef. The Devil’s Cavern is a maze of sea caves begging to be explored, before watching the sun sink with Salt Plage’s signature mango cocktail at superyacht marina Christophe Harbour. DAY 3 ST. EUSTATIUS Set sail today for the Dutch-speaking island of St. Eustatius. Once buzzing with buccaneers, today it flies below the mass tourism radar and is prized by those who visit for its virgin rainforest and varied species of orchid. Narrow stretches of black, volcanic sand beaches deliver tranquil respite Caribbean style.

HOP AND DROP: CARIBBEAN

DAY 4 SABA Spanning 1,300 hectares, the Saba Marine Park is a scuba diving dream where vibrant coral, offshore seamounts and underwater volcanic mountains provide a seabed like no other. Take a dip to swim with dolphins and green turtles, and even spot the occasional hammerhead and whale shark. DAY 5 ST. BARTS Drop anchor in the yachting hub of St. Barts, Greta Garbo’s favourite Caribbean isle. In the glamorous Port of Gustavia – one of the most beautiful natural harbours in existence – dine on signature dishes at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, the Michelin-starred chef’s first Caribbean outpost, which opened in May 2021. DAY 6 ANGUILLA Head to Big Spring Cave on the island of Anguilla to set eyes on prehistoric petroglyphs. This is the low-lying coral island of choice to get away from it all, where secluded coves only reached by boat call for long lazy days spent diving from the aft deck.

DAY 7 ST. MARTIN Wake early on your last day to cruise to the dual nation of St. Martin/ St. Maarten. A smattering of epicurean haunts are scattered between deserted cays, but La Villa Hibiscus trumps them all with its personalised menu and mountain peak view, a memory to savour when homeward bound.

When we started the superyacht ownership conversation 20 years ago, my wife did the math and said, ‘explain the logic.’ But there is no logic. I’ve wanted to do this my whole life and it's gonna be cool!” SCOTT LAWLOR

16 / 15

MEET THE OWNERS SERIES: CORAZÓN

CORAZON FIRST-TIME SUPERYACHT OWNER SCOTT LAWLOR SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ON WHY SIZING UP TO 34M/112’ CORAZÓN IS SUCH AN EXCITING PROPOSITION.

S

cott Lawlor, new owner of 34M/112’ Sunseeker CORAZÓN, lives and breathes boats. He and his wife have owned vessels ranging between 7M/25’ and 18M/60’ for the past 40 years and have chartered yachts up to 36.5M/120’ for two decades. In February 2022, they moved to the next level and took delivery of CORAZÓN, their first superyacht, and the real estate businessman’s enthusiasm is palpable.

“I've always owned boats, but a superyacht is a totally different experience,” he says. “Everyone has things that resonate – a lot of my friends enjoy art and wine – but my one thing is stuff that floats. Making the leap into buying the kind of yacht that we used to charter is terrific.” The adventure began last summer when they listed their 18M/60’ Sunseeker for sale and started the search. “There wasn’t a triggering event as such. I just said to my wife, I think it's time,” he says. Their criteria were simple. No smaller than 33.4M/110’, no larger than 40M/130’, with room enough for their six children. “ You can get a good deal on an older boat in a rougher condition, but then you're looking at a project,” says Lawlor. “After Covid, the supply delays mean something that used to take 90 days to do up now takes more like six to nine months. Buying a boat in April that I couldn't use until Christmas didn’t appeal. So, we needed a boat in good condition, at the right price and the right size. It wasn't any smarter than that.”

ON WORKING WITH FRASER… We’ve always chartered our yachts through Fraser and it felt only natural to charter our own yacht through them. It’s always been a smooth and enjoyable process, and they’ve helped us out with ownership matters already. We decided to retain Fraser for Yacht Management too, and someone within the team knew of a Captain who was looking to move and gave us the heads up. And when we needed a crew member at the last minute, Fraser stepped in and helped us to secure quick cover at a moment’s notice. We’ve had nothing but good experiences chartering through Fraser.” SCOTT LAWLOR

With market demand at an all-time high and inventory selling fast, serendipity played a part. “There were two different 36.5M/120’ Benettis that I liked, but both times the boat was gone by the time I called the Broker,” he says. “At the 2021 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show we looked around a Sunseeker 34M/112’ and the Broker said, ‘we have another one just like it down the road.’ So, we left the show, drove straight to see the boat and she was just what we were looking for. We got lucky with CORAZÓN.” Sporting an extremely versatile layout, the family-friendly yacht also provides a good charter proposition, which was always part of the plan. “Chartering has a meaningful impact on costs,” says Lawlor. “It keeps the boat working, the crew make more money through tips, and I don’t want the boat sat around for 45 out of 52 weeks of the year. Plus, the market is certainly there right now.” Joining Fraser’s charter fleet, CORAZÓN (meaning heart in Spanish and Lawlor’s long-term nickname for his half Puerto Rican, half Ecuadorian wife) will be available to charter for the first time this summer. It’s undergone five weeks of refit work in preparation

18 / 17

(with larger works planned for September), including new teak decks, a new hot tub and overhauled mechanics and electronics. Interior furnishings have been replaced and the toy collection has been significantly “tuned up”, including a new tender, RIB, jet-ski and eFoil. “ You could catch any fish in the ocean with all the fishing gear we’ve acquired!” he says. “I'm not much of a fisherman, but I have two teenage sons and if you tell them we're getting up at 5am while it's still dark to go 10 miles out and catch a giant fish, that's as cool as it gets.” The newly recruited first mate doubles as a fishing expert and professional wakeboarder, and the rest of the six crew have gelled quickly. “We hired the first Captain we met,” says Lawlor. “The only challenge was he was used to captaining 200-footers and needed persuading to come aboard our 112’, but I persuaded him,” he smiles. “He's put together a wonderful crew of six, all from different countries who didn't know each other before they joined the boat. So far we've been very lucky.”

MEET THE OWNERS SERIES: CORAZÓN

Since taking delivery in February 2022 the family has enjoyed two one-week trips to The Bahamas, including a few nights in Albany, a well-known superyacht destination in New Providence. “They gave us a berth among the big-sized boats, all moored stern-to along the dock. At night they're lit up and I could see a 210’, 250’, 190’, 175’ in a line, then our 112’. When I returned to CORAZÓN my wife looked at me and said, ‘Don't you dare!’” he laughs. “She knew I was already thinking about our next boat, ideally one I can leave in the Med for the summer – but I’m getting ahead of myself!” For now, the plan is to home port CORAZÓN in The Bahamas, just a half-hour flight from the family’s South Florida home. They’re hoping to do as many three-day weekends as they can, as well as trips of one or two weeks. With the kids still in school, convenience and access is a key factor. That said, the option to keep the boat in Fort Lauderdale for the occasional cocktail party also appeals, as does heading to Nantucket or the British Virgin Islands for the summer. What isn’t up for debate is the overwhelming joy that yacht ownership delivers. “At least 10 people told me ahead of buying CORAZÓN that whatever I expected in terms of time and cost was wrong, it’s always more. And that's true,” he laughs. “But when it's your yacht, your crew, you can come and go as you please, and you provision it as you please, it's a different feeling from charter altogether. As soon as I step on board, I head straight to the flybridge. I’ve even slept up there a couple of times. It’s great, and I could stay up there the whole trip.”

YACHT MANAGEMENT FOCUS

NEW OWNERS:

GET THE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT YOU NEED IN 2021, FRASER SAW A 70% INCREASE IN NEW YACHTS SIGNED TO ITS MANAGEMENT FLEET, OF WHICH 20% WERE OWNED BY FIRST-TIME BUYERS. HERE’S WHY.

I

n the past two years, the superyacht industry has witnessed a surge in the number of first-time yacht Owners attracted by the freedom to enjoy experiences that only yacht life can provide. With sales spiking, Yacht Management gifts an ownership experience that is light on challenges and rich in quality time. Working with Owners and Captains - including Owners navigating the world of yacht ownership for the first time – a Yacht Manager will help to ensure an optimal resale value for your yacht, minimise operational costs and secure quality results from your crew. WHY DO OWNERS APPOINT A YACHT MANAGER? Superyachts are valuable assets that require careful management, from rigorous administration to employing a trusted crew. A Yacht Manager provides specialist support to ensure your yacht is wellmaintained, operated and administered every day of the year, ready whenever you wish to spend time aboard, gifting Owners the peace of mind to fully enjoy their time at sea. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN TERMS OF BUDGETING? Signing with a Yacht Manager who has the expertise and global network to manage your yacht efficiently and within budget ensures your expectations are not simply met but exceeded. Budgeting is an area often underestimated by first-time Owners. Where you plan to cruise, where the yacht will be home ported, unforeseen technical failures, and the cost of hotels and car rentals for crew during times of maintenance all affect the annual expenditure, but a key area of Yacht Management is meeting an Owner’s requirements as swiftly as possible while keeping the operational budget competitive. WHAT’S MY FIRST BIG OWNERSHIP DECISION? Finding a Captain to take charge of the yacht is one of the most fundamental decisions you will make as an Owner. Securing a Captain who you can trust and develop a rapport with is key. Crew recruitment falls under the Captain’s remit, and together with

20 / 19

Fraser’s crew placement arm, The Crew Network (TCN), your Yacht Manager will assist with the search and establish a third-party employment structure – the recommended route to safeguard the yacht from employment liability. Fraser Yacht Management Client Relations Manager Andrea Pitacco advocates Captains are present during crew interviews to ensure specific needs are met. HOW CAN YACHT MANAGEMENT ASSIST ME BEFORE I’VE TAKEN DELIVERY OF MY YACHT? When buying a new build, signing a yacht management contract during the construction phase helps to ensure operational and administrative processes are setup ready for when you take delivery. “Within Fraser, this includes setting up a dedicated bank account for the yacht and forecasting a 12-month spending budget so that Owners have a firm overview of costs from the get-go and can make strategic decisions for the year ahead,” says Pitacco. HOW MUCH SHOULD I INVEST IN MY YACHT MANAGEMENT? Fraser Yacht Management is tailored to a specific set of individual criteria for each yacht and Owner, such as length of vessel, number of crew and technical upgrades. There is no average cost in the world of bespoke, which is why the expertise and service provided by Fraser Yacht Management presents a tangible value for all Owners. The costs saved via professional Yacht Management cover almost every aspect of operations: expert crew recruitment reduces churn and recruitment costs, relationships with insurance brokers and underwriters mean preferential rates for Fraser Owners, and a worldwide network of suppliers and agents ensure discounts for our clients. When it comes to maintenance, Fraser’s technical department is closely involved to ensure that extra costs are minimised, and the work reflects your agreed budget. HOW INVOLVED DO I HAVE TO BE? Yacht Management is more than ensuring the smooth running of operations. It provides Owners – both experienced and new – a trusted point of reference and professional support. This means

WHAT DOES FRASER YACHT MANAGEMENT ENTAIL?

FRASER YACHT MANAGEMENT COVERS FIVE ASPECTS: — Y ACHT ACCOUNTING, such as budgeting, payments and financial reporting; — C REW MANAGEMENT, including employment contracts, terminations and administration; — T ECHNICAL MANAGEMENT, ensuring technical support for the Captain and chief engineer and the provisioning of spare parts; — S AFETY MANAGEMENT, which takes care of regulatory aspects, such as flag classification and regulatory compliance; — I NSURANCE MANAGEMENT, providing support with claims and, together with Fraser’s insurance brokers, securing some of the best rates in the industry.

Owners can be involved as much or as little as they like. Seasoned Owners tend to leave most decisions to Fraser’s round-the-clock inhouse expertise, though for many first-time Owners, the excitement of planning for the year ahead only adds to the enjoyment. WHAT MIGHT I NOT BE AWARE OF AS A FIRST-TIME OWNER? Any Owner, even experienced ones, will struggle to keep up with flag state requirements, which change yearly. “It’s easy to assume that owning a yacht is like owning a car, but the volume of maritime certificates and surveys that need to be regularly maintained are considerable,” says Pitacco. “Few Owners or Captains can navigate that without the assistance of a Yacht Manager.”

WHAT DOESN’T FALL UNDER THE YACHT MANAGEMENT REMIT? While Yacht Management at Fraser is a one-stop-shop that Owners and Captains can turn to for any assistance they might need, it is not a replacement for legal advice, says Pitacco. “For any matters relating to the owning company structure or legal representation, we defer to the Owner’s lawyer. We can offer advice, but always recommend that they speak to their lawyer.” WHAT MAKES FRASER YACHT MANAGEMENT A STRONG OPTION? Today, Fraser Yacht Management manages a portfolio of yachts for Owners worldwide worth over €4 billion ($4.5 billion). Fraser’s core team of 50-plus management professionals in Monaco and Fort Lauderdale ensure Fraser Owners and their yachts are covered on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond. “Fraser has been providing a management service for the past 25 years, and 20% of our fleet has been with us for more than a decade,” says Pitacco. “Our specialist teams manage over 110 yachts worldwide from 24M to over 120M (79' to over 393'). Managing a fleet of this size means we can secure significant discounts through MARCAS, an association of shipping companies that negotiates reduced rates through volume.” A high client retention rate and a matchless reputation in the industry is underpinned by the four-person dedicated first response team allocated to each yacht, with a single point of contact for the Owner, day or night. Virtually all skill sets are represented within Fraser Yacht Management across multiple sectors, from Captains, engineers, naval architects and shipbuilders to classification societies, oil and gas and accounting. So, whenever an Owner or Captain requires support, Fraser Yacht Management has it covered.
